lol, are they really distinguishing between "good" and "bad" guys in this though? For me, "good" v "bad" tended to be "whichever side of the lead on this episode/arc". I know the original series certainly had ships explode in space, but I don't think they Bay-sploded either.

I'm sure they'll claim that it's what the Japanese publisher demanded, it's no secret that they think the series is more valuable than Americans do (partly because it's an old series here, which affects us greatly since there's no nostalgia with it). However, I would like to point out that the novels have an MSRP of $16, which is completely reasonable (given that it needs to be translated and such too). I actually picked up the 6th novel today at the comic shop! They just kind of dump it all in with the manga and don't give a shit what Diamond sends them, lol (it's also like, 2.5 weeks too early to get it, but whatever! I also got it 60% off, easter special!) I'll read them one day, lol! But in the meantime, I need to support the series and this is an affordable way to do it.

I think the internet determined they'd be less pissed if, even if it was $800 total, if they had released it in 4 sets for $200 each over time, it wouldn't be as big a blow as demanding $800 all at once like that.

No, seems that LoGH box is serious. So, what, only 1000 people can own this physically on US release? Wtf? I don't even think Aniplex is this bad. Some people are going "well, per episode cost, this is comparable to other Sentai releases and Garden of Sinners was priced way worse", but 1) LoGH is sub only and 2) this is $800 all at once. And there's no discount on their website. And while other Sentai LEs might cost that per episode, they also have standard editions for it (all of which tend to end up on sale), but LoGH has no standard edition planned. So yes, that adds up to 1000 people and THAT'S IT at this point. And yeah, the Garden of Sinners thing WAS way overpriced, it's why not many people bought it! That wasn't ok then and it doesn't make this ok in turn.

Now, HxH also announced its going back on hiatus, and I also don't think that's an April Fool's joke (even though that was actually announced 4/1), because, let's be realistic, we all knew it was coming :D

Me and my friend are trying to spread this all around online, and not let it be forgotten how epic QUALITY happened here. I told her about it, showed her a couple stills, and she found a dirty copy and made the gifs, so more credit to her on this one (I mostly just know it fucking existed)

oh god, I saw some of the new LoGH character designs. For Yang and Reinhard, I was like "sure, if you wanna make them bishonen, I guess this is way better than that damn movie that we don't speak of" but I just saw more and I'm like "....how is that ever supposed to be Reuenthal? Why does just looking at Julian put me on some watch list? wtf?" I liked how in the original, characters weren't super attractive, but they were also all incredibly distinct looking. With this, I dunno, they all look too much like "models" or something, it's distracting. I'll try to keep an open mind when watching it, but at least I should hopefully be able to buy my fucking blurays of the old show this year. I don't get "why remake what isn't broke", especially when such a situation leads the new Berserk to be in print but not the actually good older show.
Still, with old design Yang, I'd gladly have a glass of wine with him and be educated. New Yang, I feel like you'd have a glass of wine with him to try and lead to a one night stand. And yet, somehow, new Reinhard looks less attractive than old Reinhard (part of his thing is that his good looks blindside people when he has a brain)

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about Banana Fish being set in 2018. Partly because this would make Ash and Eiji born in 2001 and 1999 (logically), but also, how easy would it be for a cell phone to rat out Ash and ruin all of his plans ever? I'm also concerned with 24 episodes to adapt a little over 18 volumes worth of material that was already pretty damn tightly scripted (though I guess action scenes would go by faster anyway?) On the plus side, backgrounds were always noted as a weak point of the original manga, so that's not gonna be hard to fix. Also, what about the ever classic "you can use a computer?" "you can't?!" scene?! I really don't see why this couldn't have just been left in the 80s. Parasyte also modernized, but I felt like with Banana Fish, that manga was living and breathing in its era in a way that integrated it completely with the plot and characters whereas Parasyte really could be modernized without much hassle by comparison. Parasyte also had its character designs modernized, they're still different, but I guess I got used to them. For BF's new designs, Ash still looks like a model, Eiji still looks cute, and Max looks like a regular dad and not like a complete DILF, so I guess I'm more ok with these than LoGH's
