Well, you might me right. Just before that I watched episode 3 of DM - Mugen Train and was like "neat... whats next", but this chapter actually made me wanna comment about it... We could say it good garbage, and I still considered it more enjoyable than Takt.op in every way.
You can bet I'll be back for ep 11 just to see if the author had a bigger plan behind all that nonsense or the s*** hits the fan
I do have to give Mirai praise for being more courageous this time around, with him not hesitating in firing his white arrow if needed. However, his plan to help out himself and Mukaido in the house of mirrors if nothing more than c ase of stalling out for time and hope someone else helps them.
And on cue, steps in Saki! Thanks to Revel finally getting promoted to a first-rank angel, Saki can now use the angel wings to fly and she put herself to good use by shooting her red arrow at Hajime and using her sex appeal with her hot robo cat outfit to charm him further. It might be obvious fanservice, but I'd have that over Hajime's creepy facial expressions anyday of the week! XD
Overall, this episode was decent. The writing here was a bit on the weak side, but it had its good points. Hopefully Hajime will taste defeat in the next episode...
1:46 Finally, Mirai is willing to use a white Arrow, it's a start. Nasse is happy for him.
6:42 So they're doing it to make Hajime think they're already gone but I wonder if there's time dilation involved. Half a day could pass by for Hajime outside but only a couple of hours for them inside. It would make their waiting game a lot easier.
16:18 Congratulations Revel! You became a First-rank angel! Saki can now fly like the others in...
16:59 the seductive cat suit Mukaido made. Saki's found a purpose for the tail.

ngl that's super annoying if that's the case; the red arrow was introduced as something that basically brainwashes a person and makes them "fall in love with you" (which is already pretty iffy) & follow your every command. i had a feeling from when they first introduced the red arrow that is wasn't going to end up doing what it was said to do - which is brainwash and control a person
but yeah not to say that youre wrong or anything - it could end up exactly the way you said. im just annoyed and disappointed by the writing

Never look up the Wikipedia for a show, or the show's own wiki! People are dumb as hell when they write entrances. You are supposed to write a basic description for a character, the way it is when the show starts, not what happens in the end.
But people just HAVE to brag about having watched the show to the end, by filling wiki descriptions with this:
-An apprentive magician who becomes X's wife
-He becomes the master magician and the ruler of the city
-He WAS a captain and WAS loyal to the king, until he...
Like 90% of the time, they write WAS for a character who dies in the end. So that no one can use the wiki to keep track of which character is which.
Example of terrible offender: Last Exile. Thanks a fuhcking bunch, wiki amateurs. Sabotaging a show that has 26 episodes by writing what happens in the end.
honestly man ive been watching anime since 2016 and have NOT learned my lesson regarding looking up character wiki pages. at this point i think i just need to blacklist fandom.com using a chrome extension because i'm tired of that site popping up when i google something about a show, and then yeah like you said - you just see "xyz WAS..." like cmonnn :// also yeah gotta love when people add in every single little spoilery detail about a character/show and you literally have to wait until you're absolutely 1000% done that show before going to the wiki page

Nasse is the angel of "purity." The manga never explains what she did to deserve her title, instead dancing around the question with hints so vague as to be useless.
Mirai could have stood in front of the automatic door and let them out, instead of getting straight into the cage, that was stupid. Saki could have done the same after getting the situation explained by the other angels. I am still enjoying this watch so far, but the wrting became so lazy.
That’s how a bad writing looks like Thanks!!!
Normally pregnancy woman should be eating and resting here she is flying for a whole day without any food consumption .
Mirai could have ended it with some fight but he chooses to be a pacifist
4/10

Nah, I only like peak fiction. Mid is more of your thing

it took him ages to shoot the white arrow tho
Still an improvement than not shooting one whatsoever, though. =/
And the mini mind battle between Ohba's Protag and Antag begin. Can't wait to watch more of Ohba-san play mental 4D chess with himself through these two. Revel's promotion was sweet and clutch, a little too clutch. These angels don't "interfere", but Nasse sure does like just tossing her "pure thoughts" out in certain situations and hinting towards her alliances success.
I'm going to be the Wizard Hokage of the Pirates!!!!
I do really try to support this show, but this episode has been so bad, even worse that the source material even though is a close adaptation. The cliffhanger I think is just one or the worst that I have ever seen in all anime, I mean, they are trying to be funny or serious? I know what is comming next but If I didn't I'm pretty sure that my reaction would be the same,
One thing I was in doubt was why Balta didn't say anything to Hajime, maybe he did it because he doesn't care or maybe he thinks Hajime having a feeling of love was good, since he didn't know what this feeling is and he have never felt it.
Balta ACTIVELY ENCOURAGED shooting Hajime. Remember that this is not a Battle Royale. Balta's objective is not to have Hajime be the last one standing, it's to have him become a worthy replacement for G-d.
amagirinomikoto said: so the red arrow is a lie?? if youre shot with the red arrow, are you not supposed to essentially just go under the control of whoever fired the arrow? like why is the ugly guy still clinging to his love for poliman? am i missing something? didnt i hear that the red arrow is supposed to brainwash the person shot - so they shouldnt really be having any thoughts, no?
also interesting to note that apparently the wife and kid cannot hear through the one way mirror box but everyone else can.
also rip me i just tried quickly looking smth up about one of the characters and accidentally saw a big spoiler. nice
I thought about the red arrow thing myself. Maybe it’s because his love for Metropoliman is so strong it’s interfering with her arrow. And the reason why they can hear is the suits they are wearing
This happened once already, on the roof when the psycho-girl shot policemen on the roof of the tower (that later explodes). The head officer there also semi-resisted the red arrow (manga showed it better) due to his commitment/devotion to justice and the law.
Everyone is thinking Mirai shooting the white arrow is amazing character development or something, when it’s clearly stated he only shot because he knew the ugly guy would dodge it.
Don’t delude yourselves into accepting the bare minimum from a story which was fake news anyway.
this gets interesting Saki's red arrow worked well thanks to the enemy never nodded love now only Poliman remains this will be a race against the rule
Another thing that could be seen is difficult for an angel to rise in rank, they must obtain their own characteristic that another angel has not had, they cannot copy
It felt like nothing happened other than the last 5 minutes when da tables were turned.
Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.
Edit after episode: You know, Metroman, if you were going to create a box to trap the two candidates…
perhaps use these things called cameras? I hear YOU CAN USE THEM TO SEE INSIDE THINGS!
maybe fill it with sleeping gas to neutralize them? What? Don’t have access to a scientist or doctor?
...So I decided before I was going to do this rant, I decided to check some "future events" out for this anime...
and oh boy do we have one hell of a journey ahead of us!
We... have us a very... questionable ending. For some reason I felt compelled to check where the journey was going to end...
So don't look under this if you don't want to know. I am not going to state the exact ending, but if you check under the spoiler, and know the anime in question, you will know what I speak of.
We have us a Pirate Princess ending! Nothing matters! It all leads to an ending I know you will not like. If you know of this anime, you will know what happened in episode 12 that caused it all to mean absolutely nothing
People will tell you "it's about the message" of Platinum End, but at the end of the day... that don't quite matter when you have THAT ending.
-
-
But let's not talk about that. Let's talk about why we do not like this anime.
"Everyone deserves happiness".
Mother, Father, and Sibling are murdered.
"Everyone deserves happiness".
Relatives that took Mirai in as a child abuse him (and steal the money the parents left for him) in a good ole classic "Harry Potter" style!
"Everyone deserves happiness".
Bullied at school, even by his childhood friend.
*uck it. Time to kill myself. <---because happiness.
I don't want to kill anybody, because "everyone deserves happiness"
Can you guess who this is?
-
Oh look, you have been chosen to join a Death Game, with the Grand Prize of becoming God!
The only qualification is that you have to give up on life. Because you know, happiness starts with suicide!
"What about Ugly Jojo's mother, that died from suicide? Does she not qualify? Suit Guy is going to die in less than 3 months from a terminal disease... he won't even come close to the 999 days she could have played the game!"
Don't question it. She made an ugly, dumb baby, therefore she was disqualified
-
So what is Platinum End trying to tell us? Happiness is weird concept, and takes many forms... If we are being generous.
We have seen what various God Candidates have done with their powers.
1. A comedian that used his Red Arrow to have many lovers.
2. A couple of people that failed their exams, were given Red Arrows and Wings... had a 5 minute backstory and were killed in a stadium.
3. A child that was bullied in school, only to be tortured on a jumbotron when she was chained to another God Candidate, screaming in agony as her arm is being ripped off (almost). Oh and she was killed.
^ That's four Candidates dead so far. We don’t even get the names and aspects of their angels, they are killed so quickly.
4. Mirai, our ... MC. Indecisive, he is such an extreme pacifist Jesus is taking notes. Seriously, Kazuya from Rental Girlfriend has more of a spine than this boy. The most he has done is used his Red Arrow to cause his Aunt to kill herself (good job, you failed the tutorial level. We really should consider putting a "Journalist Mode" to prevent this), and he stayed in a free hotel room for less than a month.
5. Saki, our... pseudo girlfriend of Mirai. She felt guilty about participating in the bullying that brought Mirai to suicide, but it appears she has been forgiven, but now she feels inadequate in terms of her abilities in the Death Game.
6. Suit Guy. He has a name, I do not care. He has made 6 suits throughout this series, and I will not accept his official name at this point. A man on Death's Door due to a terminal disease, but has used his powers to secure the future for his wife and daughter. <--- I like this guy.
7. Metroman. Our "antagonist" of the series. This guy has gone from being a cunning young man (stadium event), to a mass murder for shock value [Blowing up the Tower killed 30, and he didn’t even achieve his goal of killing a God Candidate] (he used a child, child *apist serial killer, when you have the entire criminal justice system to choose from as an author).
His goal appears to be the hopes of reviving his sister, which he is keeping in cryo-stasis. Reminds me of Mr. Freeze. <---this is a guess on my part.
8. Ugly Bastard Jojo. I will not use his name of Hajime. He is an insult of a character, and the only Hajime I recognize is from Arifureta. The author is using him for shock value, and nothing more. He is ugly, stupid, and there is no part of him you are expected to like. <——he’s a Twitch SIMP.
-
-
The angels. I bet you the author thought he was really clever when he made the angels!
Want to crack the code on a God Candidate and their Angel?
just go the opposite!
Mirai: an extreme pacifist(it even says so on his wiki). His Angel? Extremely bloodthirsty. Go back to the stadium event and hear what Nasse says go Metroman (your death would really satisfy me)
Saki: meek and soft spoken. Her Angel? Haughty and arrogant.
Suit Guy: reckless and straightforward (he’s the one that poses the “what would you do if Saki was in Danger?” Situation to Mirai). His Angel? Meek but brilliant (she was demoted for being arrogant for knowing too much)
Ugly JoJo: ugly, stupid, and no confidence. His Angel? Handsome, intelligent, and boundless confidence. <—— you can also see these two as “Ugly Bastard NTR vs Wholesome Vanilla”
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Metro man? Reckless (I assumed him intelligent at one point.)his Angel? Calculating.
Metro man is the only one that seems to contradict this method, as the author seems to have no idea what he wants from this character.
I believe the audience liked Metroman too much, and thus the author tanked his character to course correct (would explain the Child, Child *apist Serial Killer)
-
The problem we have with our characters is that while we know the motivations of our other God Candidates, our MC, even after 10 episodes, is a blank.
You recall that point I stated all of those "Everyone deserves happiness"?
Our MC comes off as so unlikeable... because you will not find a person like him in real life except under VERY EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES..
Seriously, think about all that happened to Mirai... even when Saki was "in danger" in a dream, he still CHOOSES TO DO NOTHING.
You will not find a person that endures that level of hardship and be this pure.
-
I can recognize three people in history that meet this level of extreme pacifism:
Martin Luther King Jr. led the March for civil rights. While his counterpart employed the method of violence (Malcom X) MLK went with extreme pacifism, teaching his followers how not to react even when you are being beaten, hosed down, and having attack dogs sent against you.
Mahatma Gandhi. A spiritual man that lead the revolution for Indian (the country) independence from the British. His method? Nonviolent resistance (MLK would use a similar method) and Hunger strikes.
The Dalai Lama. Considered one of the most spiritual men alive. He is a Tibetan monk that has been driven from his home, and is regarded as a “threat” to China. He advocates for Tibetan rights, despite the extreme cruelty his people suffer.
-
The audience does not like Mirai, because even when Metroman is being a horrible person, he is still moving forward. He is still doing something. He is reacting, albeit very... dark in his actions.
-
The idea behind a character enduring hardship and being better for it, is that they grow from it. They learn.
Batman, Harry Potter, Zoro (the Antonio Banderas movie), Luke Skywalker, Aang (Avatar the last Airbender), Hajime from Arifureta, Bell Cranel from Danmachi.
I added these characters in addition to the Real Life ones because I want yo demonstrate what the author is failing at in this anime:
He is so busy making Mirai a character carrying a message he forgot how to make him A PERSON.
-
We also know that Suit Guy will not survive this game not because of his terminal disease, but because the author of Death Note has made Suit Guy too much of a likeable character.
-
So far, you could take Mirai out of most of the events of this anime... and what changes? The stadium event? nothing. The Grand Tower? eh, he botched the plan when he couldn't even hit an opponent with his Red ArrowTHAT WAS STUNNED FROM TWO FULL PISTOL MAGAZINES LOADED INTO HIS HELMET
And when he first encountered Jojo, he approaches him, even though HE HAS NO REASON TO, AND THE GUY HAS A SWORD AND WINGS.
-
-
Right Now, if you are trying to convince me that Mirai, this MFERING PANSY, is gonna eventually grow into a character that is worthy of all this headache, I am not seeing it.
Mirai is being such an eyesore, I want this "MC" to get off the screen. Shut up Mirai, the adults are talking. Go sit at the Kiddie Table and talk with them …Except for the three dead children, because you know, they’re dead.
-
Convince me that Mirai is worthy of being a part of this game. Even when Saki first saw Mirai again, she didn't say "hi", she shot him with a Red Arrow first.
Mirai is a character constantly catching up to his own series. Are Main Characters supposed to be individuals that DRIVE THE STORY FORWARD, OR AT LEAST PARTICIPATE?
-
I am going to spoil you one more time. When I was reading over the subbreddit for the Ending of PE, I came across a rather odd statement having to do with a "genre shift" of this series:
turns out, we are going to be shifting out of the "Shonen Battle" tag and going into philosophical. How we do that, I will not say
-
-
When I read the Subbreddit about the ending, I was really confused. Sure they were talking about events MUCH FARTHER IN THE FUTURE, but I have to ask... are you telling me it is going to take us until episodes 13-24 before we get there?
They were having a deeply philosophical debate about the ending... and I am looking at them like they are crazy. Is the anime leaving out so many of these inner thoughts and debates that we are suffering rather than getting a deep message?
The Stadium Event, the Child Child *apist Serial Killer, the Ugly Bastard, all of these events makes this author come off as so damn edgy that if there is a message, I don't want to take the time to find it.
stop trying to shock us author, and start giving us your message. If I had to tell my friend "watch half of this anime before it gets good", they would smack me on the back of the head
-
My friends are asking me why I stick around. Others are saying "we get it, you hate this".
My reason for still being here, is that there is something this "Death Note" Author wants to say. Looking at the ending of this series, it has me curious as to how the anime will demonstrate this message.
I am constantly disappointed by the MC, but the Suit Guy and Metroman, while on opposite sides, are a great contrast.
A man that wants to rid the world of one terrible person before he passes away,
vs
A boy that wants to... maybe revive his sister? IDK he feels like he is starting to enjoy his powers a little too much.
though who knows, maybe the author is just so edgy they want to kill him off by forcing us to not like him. <---I know the answer to this question, and the author disappointed me greatly on this. All that investment in this character doesn't amount to much I must say
-
-
Also Author, maybe consider the value of limiting powers. Red and White Arrows are so overpowered they leave way too many possibilities to the viewer.
Why is MetroMan not just using his arrows to get the army to bomb his enemies? Why not hire assassins to just kill entire city blocks when you know a specific area your target lives?
Red Arrow your way up the Military Chain of command, and command an entire nation's military? (Wouldn't be hard, ask the grunts who is in charge, then Red Arrow, White Arrow [Using your white arrow to reset your Red Arrow Count] up to the Big Wigs in charge)
While some people are using their powers smartly, others are getting "Plot Armor powers" like Ugly Bastard JoJo, and his power of intuition. <---In the very same episode this MFER was introduced, he figured out the identity of two Candidates. He even happened to run into 1 of the 14 P.I.s that Suit Guy used as his information force. Luck and intuition, clever.
Oh did I forget to mention that you can FLY AS HIGH AS A SPACE SHUTTLE, AND DON'T NEED OXYGEN WHEN YOU HAVE WINGS?
The idea behind having rules in a Death Game is not only to limit the scope of what powers can do,
but to let the audience know the realistic possibilities of the powers in the death game.
Death Note required the Name of a person to kill them. You could even give up half your life to get cheat eyes. Power with a price eh?
Btoom had various bomb types, with specific uses.
5-Second Battle had the idea of figuring out each opponent's powers in a sort of "solve the mystery with these clues".

If this show is really going to improve to the point where I am eating my words in the future, OH BOY DO WE HAVE SOME WORK TO DO!.
You know what? You want me to add 2 points and make this a 5/10 anime? Kill Mirai in the next 3 episodes..
Your MC is by far the biggest thing dragging down your show.
If Shinji needed to get in the Goddamn Robot as the meme goes…
Well Mirai, why don’t you do more and be a person and not a tape recorder with eyes!?
Hajime look like he just came out of Jojo universe
I don't get why Mirai went into Mirror house without a plan. If there wasn't Saki they would have died for sure at some point. They had no guarantee that Saki's angel will level up, but that's cool, now the good guys are stronger.
Entertaining episode nonetheless, far more interesting then the start of the show.
Just wanted to say that this plot is literally hanging by a string and it's getting harder and harder to not notice the constant plot holes. Like why would Nanado ask his wife if she loves him if we've established that god candidates can see arrows?

yet again, the director for the anime fails big time delivering revel sadness over not being helpful to nasse. it's hit, but not hard as the anime.
i won't even comment on the one-dimensional nasse turning from being super emo to super nasty.
the only thing the director does good was that final hajime's frustration over metropoliman or nasse.
A lot of weird things happening for better or for worse but I gotta say its impressive nothing bad happened yet to Mukaido's pregnant wife in the whole duration Mukaido has been flying.
WHY does mirai always announce himself and make his opponents aware of his presence when he could just shoot them with an arrow first? make it make sense
also the pregnant wife is the real MC here, lets be honest
the purple haired guy’s internal dialogue when he went all “sHe’s sO kAwAiI” & “pOlimAn senPaI” did manage to crack me up tho
oh my god i liked revel since the start and now seeing he wants to help saki so much and feel sad for her that he shed tears and became the angel of emotion! well made me a little bit emotional and i love him so much now omg!! made me so happy!!
