An anime about cells is really gonna make me cry like that.... Like personally it takes a lot for me to cry, I'm a little out of touch with my emotions. BUT AN ANIME ABOUT CELLS IS GONNA DO THAT?! god damn the preview for the next episode really doesn't help either.

Talk about a dark twist, didn't see that coming at all. Especially since RBC AA2153 had already saved him once before. That was sad. Quite the curveball, but to be honest. I should have seen it coming with this body being in such a bad shape. Dangers lay at every corner.

I can’t believe that just happened. I adored AC1677 so so much and I can’t believe they just killed him like that. Like every second it was happening I was just waiting for something to save him, for AA2153 to grab him or for him to not fall but damn. I don’t even know how they could bring back a red blood cell but they better because if not I don’t think I can cope.

For a second i though he could saved or somebody could saved Sekkekkyuu AC1677...
Man i didn't expect Best Friend die just like that...

When they played the flashback, the ost, Sekkekkyuu AC1677 screaming (Junya Enoki performance was so good), this is really Depressing episode

Now Sekkekkyuu AC1677 has lost his will to work and lived....

Also Judging from the preview, despair oh despair....
This Body could be dead on the end of the series...

So a bigass bacteria, when the stomach cell was talking about "him"/"yatsu" I thought the cell was referring to the owner of the body.

Protagonist going into hyper depression now the "black company" that is the body has taken his best friend's life.

I've wondered if we'll ever zoom out and see the poor body, experiencing similar stress/dangers that the cells are figuratively going through

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022

This adaptation is quite cruel to keep him alive for this long. He died quite sooner in the manga. I honestly thought were going to kill him off sooner but when he kept stick around I thought maybe he'd survive. Then I saw the title of this episode and knew it was coming.

Haven't heard too much talk about this anime this season. I have several series I'm generally more excited for this season too but i wish Code Black had more buzz because this is an amazing anime. 2021 really having a strong start in terms of quality anime

I don't know if you're suicidal or just trolling, but most people want to live as long as they can. Yes, in the end death takes us all, the question is when. Everyone dies because of bacteria/viruses/etc, but bad habits will definitely shorten the time it takes them to do it.
Oh, and one more thing, most people with bad habits will cough alot and not feel as well as people with good habits (generally speaking), so even if they do live long, they won't enjoy it.

This episode had me thinking that they're going to explore grief and mental health but the more I think about it the more I realise they probably won't.

It'd be interesting to explore something like mental health in the series though. It could definitely be shown on a cellular level with serotonin and dopamine.

So damn sad considering that AC1677 had given AA2153 a major wellbeing talk the last episode to stop him from self-destructing, then this happens and now AA2153 is utterly broken. Guessing his breakdown, refusal to work and 'rebellion' all actually play a part in a health condition we'll see next episode instead of just for story's sake.

Clearly you don't live in the same world as mine, my grandmother is 92 and 2 years ago she did skydiving. I'm also hiking in the Rockies with my father's uncle who is 75 twice a year. He's more inshape than my cousin who's 30, drinks and smokes. I don't consider myself as in shape (meaning, i drink once a week and mcdo's my whole life), but clearly i'll be living my life at it's fullest until i'm 80 at the very least x)

I had thought that the friend would die in episode 1, but when he didn't, I assumed he wouldn't die at all. So, when the guy saved the protagonist, the title of this episode came to mind and I knew what was about to happen, yet all I could do was hope I was mistaken while waiting for the inevitable. I'm sad.

Wow, just wow. The level of preferred ignorance is just... astonishing.
If you think you're better off dead at 40 than to live a full life cycle then just donate every available organ you have to those who want to live. I bet at least a couple of your "donations" would end up with someone much older than 40 who still wants to enjoy life.

You conveniently ignore the smoking, drinking, bad eat habit, lack of sleeping , unprotected sex the show mentioned.

Also conveniently ignore the decrease in White Blood Cell the earlier episode mentioned.

100 points for paying attention.

as if sleeping well, eating well, not smoking and drinking will suddenly magically make you immune to bacteria and viruses. no, they STILL chip away your defenses. those bad habits only accelerate your process of dying, sure, but they themselves isn't and will never be the cause of death. after 100 years bacteria will win. bad habits only reduces your lifespan, nothing more.

if you wanna point fingers, then point them to bacteria and viruses. not bad habits.

Thing is, while they don't make you totally immune, good rest does actually help your immune system fight off viruses. It's why when we're run down, we're more likely to get sick and why, when we are sick, we're encouraged to rest if it's possible. Stress can contribute to ulcers, organ troubles such as triggering heart attacks because of high blood pressure, even cause things like Bell's Palsy and trigger autoimmune conditions.

This person's body is in trouble because the bad habits attack the body's systems, the stress is making the immune system more weak and less able to fight off oncoming viruses.

You'd only have to go through that if you didn't live a healthy lifestyle. Or if unfortunate enough to contract cancer.

My grandmother is 80. She has lived a long and healthy life. Up to the last few years where she had a Bell's Palsy (harmless), went half-deaf, had a cataract (that was removed and she sees fine), hypothyroidism...and now cancer (though treatments are going very well). But, that was all the way to her 70s. Because she didn't smoke, she didn't drink alcohol, her diet was healthy, she was fit.

As opposed to me who is only 35, had a Bell's Palsy from stress, have Graves' Disease (autoimmune hyperthyroidism) and a tachycardic heart thanks to that, almost died four years ago. I'm only three years away from the age my mum was when cancer took her from us. My lifestyle compared to my grandmother is not great and my cells are crying. Stressed easily (live with multiple mental illnesses and two personality disorders), eat unhealthy foods (doctors just want me eating at all because 24 hours without will land me in hospital and only a little longer would either put me in a coma or kill me, I'd eat healthy if I didn't have to deal with foods either triggering sensory issues or making me feel more sick than normal), I don't smoke and haven't touched alcohol for years but even when I did have it, it was on the rare occasions, I'm also unfit thanks to not really being able to walk anymore (thanks to Graves' making me so sick I couldn't get around and my muscles have degenerated). If I made it to 40, even with a life of constant blood tests, medicines, hospital visits and stays, specialists...that would be a miracle.

again, viruses is the problem. even if you have the most unhealthy body it would have been fine if there's nothing to fight against. fuck viruses. point your finger to the REAL problem.

It was all happening in slow motion, you’d think they’d just be teasing you again and that he will be saved at the last minute. Damn, they didn’t pull back and our man really just lost his closest buddy.

While this body is in freaking shambles, seems that this dude at least is getting all the medication and treatment he’s needing. All these issues are solved at the last minute by some artificial drug, the cells themselves just holding out long enough until the antibiotics arrive.

Next episode is gonna be a real one

All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper.
