Ok now I see why they skipped a bunch of Vol 2, it's to make Saya more apart of the anime. That was hilarious Saya at the end, how dare you mess with Elaina-san! It was a great and funny episode though. I'm surprised Elaina wouldn't just pack up and leave after seeing all the dolls though lol. But her getting all sadistic on the doll was hilarious.
and Yoko Hikasa as Sheila and Reina Ueda as the doll lady were nice touches too.

I know I like Sheila, and the doll lady was hilarious!

Not gonna lie, that country is creepy AF! When I saw the episode title I honestly thought they were gonna have something like Jack the Ripper and the early signs did make that impression as well. If it wasn't for something completely different.

NOOOOO NOT THE HAIR! How could they cut that beautifull ashen hair T_T Elaina was rightfully angry and I agree, they should all burn in hell!

That ripper witch is an absolute nutcase, definitely got a few screws loose.

She fixed it!

Weak episode with predictable outcome, however I have to say I wasn't expecting Elaina to re-attach her hair with magic.

I actually really liked this episode. Sure, it was predictable but it was fun to see it all unfold and those dolls were so damn creepy. What a weird town. I can tell this will be an unpopular opinion but I actually thought Elaina looked better with her hair shorter. I have such conflicting feelings about this anime.

One of the reasons why I hate dolls.

This time a creepy mage wants some hair from beautiful girls and cuts Elaina hair, I really thought that her hair won't be back as the same it was.

In general, its really a very nice episodic episode coming up from Elaina, the traveller witch. Lmao. Elaina, once again, involved around an absurd case and facing against a creepy people. She just want to had a peace on those country full of doll. However, since she already disturbed first, no choice, she needed to started a havoc and punished those maso witch. Hah at her expression in the end, it must be something good for her. Lol!

Well, these episode hold a simple storyline than before, with a direct impactment of Elaina character development. How she angry. How she decided an urgent decision. How she was pouting. How powerful her magic. And the last line, how beautiful her ashen hair was. I am simply love the scene of Elaina that caught those ripper attention too. Finger crossed with her deed, there. If i am there, and had the same power too, 100% i will do the same thing. But for my own satisfaction, not to sold it to everyone. Lol.

Left aside that, its nice to finally get acquainted to the blonde 'Night' witch, Sheila, that somehow was Saya's teacher too. Damn, she looked so hot, and yeah, she had a unique personality too. And i must say that 'what a small world they were living'. Everything was just back to Elaina relatives. Lol. I think, its just a fate for both of them!

I really hate dolls to begin with, so this episode was quite unnerving for me to watch. Still pretty entertaining, though. I got to know that hair is supposedly "the life of women" as well.

By the way, Elaina looks even cuter with short hair. Or it might only be me who thinks that.

Another good episode for this series. This episode literally the parody for the Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper. I like how Saya makes a small appearance but it just enough to make me fall for her. Saya is just like a yandere character in this series. I really hope we get to see her more in the next episode. Is it just me that likes how Elaina speak? I always find it cute when she talks.

A pretty meh episode. Why should someone even care for this episode? This is not even a mystery. It's revealed from the very beginning.
I know I'm nitpicking but a person who cut women's hair deserve a death penalty according to Elaina. But a guy who grooms a child to be his slave is just another guy.We don't interfere in other people's stuff.

What's with Elaina's obsession with herself. She called herself cute and beautiful once again."Even the sun tries to shine brighter than the Ashen Witch".Nobody praises themselves like that. She boasts about herself.Maybe she's just confident in herself but it comes off as obnoxious.

Character of Elaina is pretty inconsistent and it's my major gripe with series.

hmm I dunno she looked uglier with the long hair and the pink dress. she's much cuter on short hair.

I too would be gaga on a child looking, porn-inducing, and most importantly NNN-failing inducing doll. why can't we have nice things on this planet I wonder?

This episode is a waste, they could have done something creepy, but it was another comic episode about an people insane bat-crap only can get stupider. It turns out there is no serial killer at all. The dolls are stealing people's hair, because what people are actually obsessed with is hair. Everyone. The women's hair must be protected and loved, because a woman with short hair is incapable of happiness. And the crazy woman's master plan is that she magically steals hair so she can auction it off on dolls, and then donate the money, because she wants to see people in the depths of despair and the height of happiness (whatever). So… she went the route of haircuts and donations. Yes. The greatest despair in the world is getting a haircut, and the greatest happiness is being given money. The plant episode was more creepy.

Do you know what the problem is with this anime? the characters are jackasses don't have a braincell to split between them.

This show def works better when they spend the entre ep on a single country/setting/topic/w/e. But yeah this was pretty decent. Was obvious crazy doll lady was gonna be the culprit, but I guess it was wrapped up in a decently amusing way. She got pretty masochistic at the end.

Well, we met Saya’s teacher and she did pretty much nothing the entire time. How the hell did she not figure out this case with all those clues. At this point, I don’t think I will ever like Elaina as a character. She isn’t interesting, entertaining, or likable. She is cute, but has nothing else going for her.

Another great episode, I really enjoyed it. As much as short haired Elaina was really cute, there's something I love about Elaina's long fluffy hair.

Damn, I did not expect Sheila to be Saya's teacher. Lmao, Elaina was ready for a bloodbath. People suffering, I sleep. Cut my hair, real shit. Elaina is definitely one of my favorite characters ever.

And looks like next episode will be heavy, I hope they adapt until the snow melts. I don't read the novel but, I heard some really good things about that story. So, I really want to see it. Looking forward to the next episode.

Creepy episode and probably the one I liked the least. Not because I don't like creepy, I actually love it, but honestly... with the art style and this show's animation... creepy just doesn't work. Not to mention who was behind the masked charade and the whole short-haired Elaina business was a poor excuse for a villain. I did like the Night Witch's design but I had high hopes for some character development like how the first episode of this series delivered. Tbh after the 4th episode I started to realize more and more that this series wasn't what I hoped for, and it's not the episodic storytelling that's the problem, but I can't yet put my finger on it.

Elaina still stays true to her character. As you already figured out, Elaina cares mostly for herself only. She is the witness from the outside, but if she got involved then she will act. Her hair was damaged and she really despised it. That is why she was obsessed about hunting down the culprit

She is no hero, she is not interested to be involved in other businesses. There are only a few exceptions, where she thought that a person is very sympatric to her.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This episode gave me serious original Sailor Moon vibes. It only would have been with a blond guy telling something about the stupidity of the humans and collecting with his middle finger energy for their cause.

What about the Kingdom of truth?Nobody harmed her in anyway. She decides to help Saya of her pwn volition. She decides to raid a castle and save a kingdom which is more dangerous than saving a kid from a powerless village chief. You just can't say Saya is the sole motive for Elaina to help.
It was the breaking point for me.I defended Elaina's actions in episode 3.Since then the show is on a downward slope for me.

You can still say that Saya is a friend of her and that she at least consider her as a friend. Not as close as Saya wanted it to be, but still as a friend dear to her. It was also an important mission from Saya, that is why Elaina did decide to support her friend.

I don't find that convincing enough.if it's the case she is downright a terrible person. What's the hesitation she showed while repairing that broken vase? She felt inclined to help the slave but didn't cause she's interferring in others matters. She didn't even warn the city attacked by flower zombies. It cements her character as neutral just like a mere spectator.Even she indirectly helps Mirarose by digging a hole when she and Elaina aren't related by any means. So,she just helps whoever she wants. Then we get episode 5 where she decides to save an entire kingdom because Saya is involved.I'll never buy it unless the last third delves more into it.

It suits her perfectly though. She is only considered about her and her friends business. Other things are totally not important to her. She is very simple minded. If someone she is close to is involved, she most likely is willing to help and even take the half of the risk.

Great episode, loved this Elaina x Sheila duo!
I mean all she was doing was stealing people's hair, if she had asked then it would be a different story, even tho she was just stealing hair xD

And that Saya appearance in the end! Yes, hope they'll meet again!

The avg rating for the Elaina anime should be much higher. It was higher and then episode 3 happened. It's been a witch hunt (no pun intended) ever since. It's been filled with illegal ratings. This is why we need to STOP THE COUNT! If we just count the LEGAL ratings, Elaina averages 9.9, but when we count the ILLEGAL ratings, it drops down to 7.55. The ratings are RIGGED and I WILL NOT ACCEPT THE RESULTS. We will get season 2 and Elaina will continue to MAKE ANIME GREAT AGAIN!

So the diehard doll fans from the city are actually like that and weren't under a spell after all?...

Man, the PV for this episode sure played with my expectations. Was totally expecting a dark story with people being killed by being turned into dolls yet instead, I got a boring and extremely weird episode featuring a fetishist stealing girls' hair just because she wanted to see her facial reactions... talk about wasting potential.

more Saya is always good, was surprised Elaina had already left lmao
