Psajdak said: I won't lie; I was usually always disgusted with most anime that this studio made, how they tried to make bullying okay, and even cute, like for instance what they did with character Yohei Suzuhara in Clannad series. Where they made him clown, scapegoat, and a punching bag, while Tomoya was okay in everyone's eyes. Yeah, I am aware that Clannad was "only" animated by KyoAni, but ever since I noticed pattern in their work (another example, Haruhi Suzumiya who is, well a bitch, AND a bully, being adorable for that)... I definitely don't wish anyone anything bad, especially not death, but I was always under impression that KyoAni is, despite visual quality, studio who just likes to makes. To this day I remember how Clannad series made me feel sick because of how horribly that boy Yohei was treated, compared to his "friend" Tomoya. My condolescences, anyway... Wtf are you even talking about? Like seriously? π€¦βοΈ |

I really hope KyoAni can get through this awful tragedy. I totally get you and I’m praying for KyoAni to overcome this too! It’s hard that we can only pray now as things stand. |

[Edit: First line removed by myself since it was a tasteless joke that offended others.] While it is bad for the studio and the people and their families and for the anime industry itself (they are known for good "animation") personally I don't care. Since I prefer anime focused on good characters/plot the studio is not one of my favorites. I'm more curious on the intention of the culprit. While a lot of people might now suspect some anime fan that didn't like some stuff they do (maybe a favorite girl wasn't virgin anymore) I'd say it was a co-worker or ex worker. I mean you often hear about bad working conditions in Japan and people working until they die instead of going to a doctor. (More collectivism than individualism - US an Japan are the polar opposites while my country is somewhere in the middle.) Especially for the anime industry I have r read about bad bad conditions for people that certain parts of the work. |

Sad to see one of my all time favorite studios becoming a victim of mankinds corruption and hatred. Not a lot of info is out yet and I don´t seek to give false info. Check out nhk for more news. Sentai filmworks have started a gofundme for kyo ani at this site: Here Someone may already have posted something similar but twice can´t hurt. I wish and pray for the best for all victims. I also hope they won´t lose too much progress on anything they may have worked on. |

This is fucking evil. Whatever was the sympathetic reason behind this arsonist snapping and setting people on fire over isn't even worth jackshit because people are dead now. Being an animator is a thankless job, and this asshole has made it worse for the employees and their families. I hope the unaccounted are found alive. This is literal insanity. |

Goodiego said: I wasn't exactly talking about how I feel about their work, but rather how I felt about KyoAni, and its people by experiencing their works, and their works made me sick, so by extension, I just wonder what kind of people could even make such horrible anime like Clannad, even if it just deciding to animate some eroge.I Think This Not A Great Time To Talk About Their Work. And What Do You Mean “You Always Digusted With Most Of The Anime This Studio Made? Have You Actually Finish Clannad? Or You Just Didn’t Get The Whole Point Of Clannad? I talked about this few times over the years, about how Clannad was "serious harem", where there were two deliquent boys, Tomoya, and Yohei, but where despite what he was, Tomoya was still treated like a prince, loved by many girls, even when he did something nasty, he would be forgiven, maried rather good girl, even when there were sad moments, it only helped Tomoya shine even more. While at the same time, Yohei was cursed to be a scapegoat, jester, whatever he said, or did was used against him; in a series that tried to be mature, and serious, he was forced to constantly be a comic relief, or do stupid things that don't match the situation at hand, just so that would end up being "corrected" by Tomoya, or other girls. In parts where Tomoya did something good for Yohei, it wasn't exactly for Yohei, more like it was, again, for Tomoya to shine even more. And yeah, I finished every Clannad anime, and I did get it. As far as I am concerned, Clannad is series which has strong underlying messages of bullying, violence towards friends, and hypocrisy. Yeah, I AM aware that this isn't really thread to write these things, but IT IS how KyoAni's works connected me with people who work there. It is similar to how reader communicates with poet through his songs. I can pay my respects to victims, and it's not like most of them actually had a say in what anime are they gonna make, but on a personal level, I never knew anyone among them, so their works, and how I saw them were the only thing I could judge KyoAni by. Please, don't answer anymore to my posts in this thread. |

Also, about your point on harsh working conditions - KyoAni is among one of the few Studios which take great care of their employees/workers. Sure, it may not be as dreamy and ideal, but the employees are paid well and instances of overworking are few in total hence why they release few shows every year. |

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes That way I wouldn't have to have any goddamn stupid useless conversations with anybody. So I don't see whe a mod should take action in regards to my post. I usually try to observe thinks in a less emotional way. Especially if it is about things where I'm not involved. (Easier to be neutral.) Doesn't mean I want to insult them or make fun of the deaths. I didn't know about the studio offering better working conditions. But then again: Do we know every internal details? Might be some news about the top workers (directors n stuff) working there that told about this. Does every low level animator (and even things they might have outsourced in other external companies) have super good conditions? We don't know that. It makes only sense to me to analyzse the person that did this - to better understand an be able to prevent something from happening again. Doesn't mean you automatically think it is good or the person should walk around free without prison sentence. (If he survived. I think I read he died as well.) "Excusing" something and "unterstanding why it happened" are different things. Also I'm critical about the donation stuff. Saw some link. There are people around the world that might need help more. While I think it is okay for people (and fans) do wo with their money what they want (i. e. they can donate for the studio) I think a site like MAL should not advertise this and post such links. A company needs to survive on their own. (Buy insurance against fire/arson.) Should at least be made sure the money goes to the relatives of the killed people to pay for the funeral and stuff. |

Knowing the motive will in no way prevent future crimes, especially because of Japan's hostile work environment. For example, if the criminal's reason was because he was fired, how can the police prevent another crime? Arrest any future fired employees preventively? well we do not know exactly the motive yet but and thats why i added "hopefully" there although its the police/authorities duty to know the motive/reason/cause anyway |
