It actually made me play volleyball better in PE class, if that counts.

How can an unrealistic sport anime make you play better?

Well to be more specific, it made me better in receiving and serving. I just tried to mimic Daichi's defense style and it made me slightly better and not be a completely useless team mate when we do practice matches in class.

So how about you list out their idiocy for those who are intelligent enough not to ever give IGN clicks.

Didn't that thatanimesnob(most elitist person) criticize Bakuman negatively?

I've seen Bakuman, Lain, Spice and Wold, Shokugeki, Haikyuu and Euphonium. So I watch 6 out of 11 of those.

Non of them I would consider really making me smarter unless you mean provide information which I'm sure I can also get it if I search wikipedia.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

Motivation, if nothing else, but Haikyuu occasionally offers advice that holds true in real volleyball. For example, blocking really is all about timing and positioning. Even short people can block, they just need to have better timing and positioning than tall people, because their window of opportunity is smaller.

Naruto taught me the importance of friendship, and how it can help you win any fight no matter the enemy
Tokyo Ghoul taught me to do what you think is right, even if others disagree
Sword Art Online taught me how far video games will get you in life
One Piece taught me no matter the obstacle, I can overcome it, and I should keep trying even if it may take decades to reach my dream.

Anime taught me no matter how much you may be killed, you will never actually die.

sorry IGN, but all anime makes me feel smarter. And more empowered. Anime- 1, Atheists- 0

Seen 2 of 11. While Lain isn't a good source of computer science (but where else would you learn about internet protocol?), Spice and Wolf is a good source on medieval economics.
I guess I should watch some others, especially Perfect Insider, Moyashimon and Bakuman, as they are rather relevant to me.

Sure, you can get this information by searching wikipedia or similar sources. But would you? Probably not.
Anime isn't meant to be a store of rare information. But it's good at making knowledge interesting.

Exactly. It's Shokugeki no Souma that makes Home Economics interesting, not the other way around. And that's the way it should be.

Good thing I dropped it then. Would have nullified the increase I got by reading the article now.

I wonder if in Fumto's country people think boys or girls are smarter.
In my childhood, girls were more likely to be all-around good at academics and hard workers, and boys were more likely to be mad genius types.

Nope. in the end its just nope.
Doesn't make you smarter in the least, at most it just gives you some random knowledge. and no know how.

If this is what they meant they're hilarious. Data and information doesn't necessarily make you smarter.

Moyashimon is a decent choice for "science," but I might have chosen Noein with its discussions about quantum theory.

As for the "history" category I'd list Hyouge Mono for its detailed presentation of the Sengoku period even though its portrayal of the incident at Honnouji deviates substantially from the historical canon.

Why do you keep repeating about the difference between knowledge and intelligence?
It was obvious that by "smarter" they meant "more knowledgeable" from the contents of the article, wasn't it?
Or is it not, and I'm somehow very smart outside of what I consider my field too?

Yeah the title feels like clickbait by using the word smarter and nothing more.
I somewhat agree that certain anime can broaden your general knowledge a bit or at least make you interested in certain topics but all in all I don't think it's the right medium to educate oneself. Anime is first and foremost made to entertain and there are just not many series that feel like having an educational purpose.
At least among the one I watched till now, that is!
