With Nagi no Asukara, they've proven that they can make an anime that isn't boring. Let's hope they keep that going.

I'll check this out. Hopefully it doesn't become as plot scrambled as Red Data Girl and be more enjoyable like Nagi no Asukura. Here's to hoping that they make another good original

Pre K-on era Kyoani I actually liked a fair bit. Their Key adaptations were respectable (though I personally did not like them compared to most people), but their works on FMP:TSR and Haruhi in particular were very good. K-on and post K-on era Kyoani though is just a bunch of zzzzz, with the exception of Hyouka. I do however think they may bounce back with Agami Brilliant Park next season as the author of FMP:TSR is involved in this as well as the director for the pre-kon era kyoani shows.

Whilst PA Works series from adaptations are a mixed bag ranging from the unremarkable Red Data Girl to the brilliant and wacky Uchouten Kazoku, their slice of life/drama/coming of age anime originals are rock solid. These anime original productions are the heart and soul and signature type series of PA Works and Glasslip is will be the 5th one in that lineup after True Tears, Hanasaku Iroha, Tari Tari and the currently airing Nagi no Asu Kara. Though I have some problems with NagiKara in its 2nd cour (largely due to Mari Okada's romance melodrama tendencies), without her prescence for Glasslip I have great faith.

"The story revolves around a 17-year-old girl named Touko Fukami who has a dream to become a glass artisan."

God I wished they would put some effort into their story a little, this must be the most boring premise I've ever heard.

I'm not sure if I want to even try it after recent P. A. failures. After Iroha, Tari and RDG they probably should stop making series with female main characters...

P.A. Works who did Nagi no Asukara? I'm watching, just hope that the plot/story is not that gonna be bad since it's an original anime but I think it'll be unique judging from it's synopsis.

You say boring; I say original.

Well there is not much detail so it might get better but from what has been said so far I don't see anything original in this setting. Just because glass artisan's are rare doesn't make it original.

I knew the character design looked similar... It's the same studio that made Hanasaku Iroha. Well it certainly has a more unique than you're average anime. Becoming a glass artisan? Who would've thought that :p But it looks promising!

<3 <3 <3

You know, when Nagi no Asukara(a great gender balanced anime) was projected to sell 1k and less I was heartbroken because it was great with having things which appealed to both males and females perfectly and I did not want that to fail. So when it literally rose out of it's grave to sell 4k I was overjoyed!

Here's hoping and praying that this anime, Glass Lip, at least manages 6k so that hopefully more gender balanced anime are made.

P.S I also resented the fact that some people dismissed Nagi no Asukara as shoujo and I hope that that doesn't happen to this anime as well.

Nagi no Asukara a shoujo? What the heck?! So what, if it spends less than 99% of the time focused on the male lead and spreads the attention among female and male characters and their development it's automatically a shoujo? Kudaranai!

Shoujo is a label, and one that doesn't mean that much to me anyways...

To be honest though, I don't expect this to be as good as NagiAsu. I realize it's early, but I just don't think it will have the same kind of feel, but I could be wrong. Also, Mari Okada is not involved right? Didn't she do the writing for NagiAsu?

Apparently by some people, yes, it is labeled as a shoujo. I find it ridiculous as well. That was one of the refreshing parts of NagiAsu. It actually felt like the characters were characters with their own conflicts, their own great moments, their monologues.

I don't expect this to be as good as NagiAsu either. I could be wrong like you, but it gives me a feeling. But comparing it to NagiAsu is kinda unfair. It's a masterpiece SoL, romance, drama anime.

Perhaps it stems from some people thinking that only women/girls can enjoy drama and/or romance shows. Which is not true, I can assure you. But anyways, who cares what a few people think right? As long as the disc buying fanbase was moved to support/purchase stuff, hopefully we will get more shows like it right?

And yeah, NagiAsu might not be a fair comparison for the story. However, I wouldn't be too surprised if this show did bring a similar level of quality in some of the other things, like music, animation, etc. But yeah, to have a story with the same feelings and/or emotional power as NagiAsu...that seems unlikely.

Yeah, I think some having that idea, which like you said, is not true. Yeah, it's the disc buying fanbase which matters and NagiAsu will probably average ~3k-3.5k and it's not a loss and that's what matters.

Initially I didn't plan to watch this when I look at the synopsis. Until I saw the promotional picture and it is going to be animated by P.A. Works, I'm definitely having high hopes for this.

I've always... always been watching you... This whole time... Because you were there... That's why I was able to try hard. So you could have some balance! So you wouldn't treat me like a kid! So you would see me as an actual girl! Even while you were gone... You were right here! You were right here in my heart!
