"Even a fake can be more real than the original." Now where did I find that line before... whoops, wrong season. "Old soldiers only fade away." And that's how adults do things, you brats. Or so what Kaiki might say about the resolution to the arc... but then he might have met his end not long after with that kid whose curse came back to him. Man, I can't believe I'm gonna miss that cynical conman, same with Mayoi. I guess that's what you get when you have too many enemies in your life. He escaped death from the grip of Nadeko brilliantly with that unlikely ace (of clubs? yeah...) up his sleeve, but might have died ignominiously at the hands of one of his unnamed past victims. I hope I'm wrong with this though, seriously this man, his interactions (and his view on life) is just so entertaining for me to watch; I wouldn't mind seeing him again in a future adaptation. Well, he failed to achieve his goal of meeting Suruga Kanbaru... I wonder why it meant a lot to him to even risk returning to that town and taking on a job like that. His last phone call with Hitagi implies some other past connection between them other than his conning her family a couple of years ago... rather interesting point to speculate on, coupled with the OP visuals for this arc... Dunno about other people, but this Second Season was absolutely entertaining for me. And I'm just glad SHAFT and Shinbo has plans to or at least the intention to animate it all (even though the source isn't even finished yet apparently). Looking forward to the next adaptation, and Kizu too, when it finally comes out.

Ok so i might have missed something really obvious, but does this mean that the after credits scene from like episode 15 or 16 (can't remember which) where everyone is very much dead doesnt happen? was that just like nadeko fantasising about how she was going to kill them? sorry if this was kind of a stupid question!!

10/10 Is there going to be a third season? and can someone explain me the time line for 2nd season it is very confusing for me I can't understand which event occur first or last? And how did araragi come back and save hanekawa with all his shirt torn? If I remember correctly he didn't engage in any fight when he was in time travel....

Gonna be honest here, there is no other character in this entire series that made me love this season so much than Kaiki did this past arc, no other character made me as interested in them as he did that's for sure. I think if this season was made up of only just the Hitagi arc and the Nadeko arc, it would potentially rival Bake for me, but for the most part, I wasn't overly amused with the other 3 arcs included within. I was actually more disappointed with Tsubasa's arc the most, particularly because I felt like Kuro was the better arc of the two, the only great episode in Shiro imo was the last one. I just didn't really feel much for the other two arcs, but then again I was never really into Mayoi's character at all, and the same can be said for Shinobu, although her older version at the end of Mayoi's arc was rather cool. Was still a pretty good watch overall though, 8/10 I look forward to this plus alpha season coming out sometime this year I think, or maybe not, I'm still waiting for the Kizu movie....

Why anyone not realize that Kaika is a "specialist" as welll? Maybe not someone that good with martial art, just like Yagenui or Oshino. But it obviuos. Not anyone can "curse" a god to faint, or "grab" the talisman from someone body. And like Nonoki said from previous episode, only apparition (or someone with apparition) can see other apparition (that young kid with snake on his body). Even Gaen trust Kaiki very much. She support Kaiki financially, and even let Kaiki counter Sengoku alone (to some degree I believe. She must really have plan if just in case Sengoku goes rampage). And here I'm wonder, who Ougi really is.

Well that was fun. Almost as good as Bakemonogatari even. However I can't help but be a little disappointed at something. Senjougahara and Araragi haven't spent any damn time together in the same scene since the original. Those 2 together made up my favorite scenes out of anything animated so far. And it just seems odd that after like 30 more episodes it hasn't happened... Although I see a part 2 is scheduled for this year so perhaps it will happen then. It was at the very least nice to see Senjougahara get some screen time though, she's one of my favorite anime characters.

My jaw dropped to the floor at dat ending! Bravo, SHAFT!!! While I'd be happy if this ended with Nadeko's head rolling down those shrine steps (very happy actually), I'll take this ending just as well. I hope Durararagi follows Kaiki's advice and cuts all ties with the crazy middle school girl from now on. It's just like he said, everything about Nadeko is fake and everything people (and herself) think they know about her is false. People like that are the ones I personally hate the most irl. 10/10! And need next season nao :)

When i saw how many favorites Kaiki had going into this season i was really surprised, and thought it unjustified. However after finishing this Arc i see that he is a wonderful character, filled with mystery, depth, humor, and most of all interesting. Now he is possibly my favorite character in the show (if i didn't like the girls fanservice the decision would be simpler). Looking back at scenes of him earlier in the show I can appreciate them alot more than when I thought of him as little more than a creepy nuisance. The ending was surprising, but given the initial statements he made at the start of the Arc, the truth of what unfolded has to be in question. While it would be a fitting end ( Although it would require the scum Boy who cursed Nadeko and "killed" Kaiki to get some anal rapage before being brutality murdered as justice for us fans), many of us have come to like/love Kaiki, so I would be quite pleased if he was screwing with us.

The style of this show is brilliant. Though I wish some things were touched on differently. I can tell why this show is so popular. The characters, storyline, feelings are really well thought out. I was shipping Hitagi since BakeM but following the later installments, I came to love Shinobu more. Shinobu's arc was the best. Also I never really felt anything for Mayoi Hachikuj but even then, I did shed some tears after the way she parted with Araragi.. The show was a 10 right then and it would have stayed that way, for me at least, if the show ended there. But dear lord the last arc.. that last arc. I was quite underwhelmed cause it was anti-climatic. And maybe I just can't stomach some out-of-nowhere MC swap. And when did it Swap? Towards the ending stages.. Cause it's properly following the novels? Hm Or maybe I couldn't stomach at how many times I cringed during those very subtle ntr moments between Hitagi and Kaiki. I've lost count, argh. That aside, All that last arc made me feel was to accept Kaiki as new MC, watch him kill the main threat in a unfamiliar kind way, to keeping cool while he hustles and makes dough, Only to be randomly sucker punched afterwards and left to die..LOL It's funny but.. it's not.. just no.. pls. For those who liked Kaiki, look at how they took em away from you. Pretty sad. tl;dr I'd rather have read the last half of the snake arc than have watched it caz watching it- shit did not hit the fan. Reading it would have been boss though, but still I'm glad I watched it.

That is just how he express his own story. No doubt that the ending of the series will be an anti-climactic one too. Great example, Katanagatari. |

ok... first, if I remember correctly Kaiki said in the begging of the last arc, at the very first scene that that arc would be about the love story of Araragi and Senjougahara and so I got my hopes high and I was like "yeah that would be the best way to end this season" and since I'm also wondering as to why this season's monogatari series received too many positive comments and reviews all around MAL, not to mention it has a high average score so I thought that maybe this arc will make it up for all of it because I think that from episode 1 up to episode 20 (except at the last scene) everything is mediocre.. but then again Kaiki also said stuff that he may be lying or something and it turned out that he really was because nothing happened between the two and it's very disappointing second, the final arc was named "Hitagi end" so there's nothing wrong with me expecting that this arc would be about Senjougahara and of course, Araragi, the freaking protagonist, and their "end" but it turned out that the two were nothing more than supporting characters especially Araragi who only showed his ass at the last minute of the last episode.. *sigh* I was not entertained as much as I thought I would be so I should probably give this a 5 because it's just average and I didn't see anything special in it or even a 4 for disappointing me but it was my fault for expecting shit so I'll let that go but Hachikuji's disappearance in episode 20 really got me hard so.. 6/10 I think this is very overrated and Bakemonogatari was a lot better... fuck me right?

(though, this arc would have been better if they made the kizu movie before releasing this, making more people understanding the relationsship between 'rararagi and shinobu.) also, more shinobu one better arc. nadeko medusa: transformation of nadeko's character from a moe-blop, fanservice character into an insane god, nearly killing of the entire cast. also, ougi is ougi. we got here a parallel to hanekawa tsubasa, what would have happened if she failed and cast more oddities than the tiger (possible bad end). one jawdropping arc. o_o shinobu time: teary farewell from mayoi... (already noticed that shinobu steals in mayoi arc and mayoi steals the show in shinobu arc?) and ougi being ougi again. one arc with boarding on the feels-train hitagi end: we got our con-man Kaiki back, we got an actual main character who just goes FK Y'ALL AND LEMME RESOLVE IT. i resolved nadeko nearly killing the entire cast and helped them all. I AM BEST HUSBANDO/BEST GURL. and his (near-)death scene at the end. also there is speculation that he made her parents split to save hitagi. playing the bad guy and resolving things left and right, he is like severus snape of anime. prob best arc there with kaiki being the MC. the story gets better and better with each arc. but if you disliked shinobu and kaiki, then you wont have enjoyed it as much as other would do... which i can understand, which is kinda sad... |

Ohhhh. Kaiki. I don't really not what to say, I accepted the possibility that he would die, but like that? It never crossed my mind... After such an epic speech, what a shame :/ He was a great character till the end. I never gave him a lot of importance or interrest before this arc, but his thought on everything that was happenning or was said to him was way too great. He was always so thoughtful and down to earth. He knew he wasn't a ''good guy'' and he didn't give a crap. Sengouhara last goodbye was touching. He knew it was her who sent the letter but he still continued. He was really dedicated to this case, to the point of risking his life on a bet. Damn, all my theories were pure futilities x) I feel so fooled right now. Who really guessed that what would be in the closet was manga? More particuliary ecchi romantic manga? I don't see a situation where it would have crossed my mind. But now, the real question : who is Ougi? What is her real intentions? Is she associated with someone? I remember that she said to Araragi that her duty was to punish the liar. I also saw that interresting theory that she could be that dark matter anti-existence. Maybe the fact Araragi said that she only told her that Hachikuji went to heaven, he want to see if by telling her that, if the persecution on Mayoi would stop (all this is with the hypothesis that Mayoi isn't really gone). After all, we never really saw Mayoi leave this world, Araragi even said that he didn't tell her ''farewell''. I'm sure that Ougi, Gaen and Episode will soon become important, same for Kanbaru that was weirdly mentionned often during that arc. Well, Monogatiri second season, you were sure a fun ride. A fun emotionnal destruction ride, but still a great ride. Thanks Shaft again for this masterpiece.

You shouldn't be reading episode 26's discussion if you dont want spoilers. Okay, for those of you like me who haven't read the book. It was obviously the girl claiming to be MeMe's niece that is pulling all the strings. It even says her name multiple times. I thought the episode was anti-climactic but I was still angry. Kaiki was actually a good guy. So that made me enjoy his dynamic character more. Then they kill him off.

Off'ing Kaiki - After making viewers experience his development and deeper, kinder intentions, is just a gut-punch feeling. Especially ending the season on such a sour note. Haven't touched any of the Novels, other than Kizumonogatari, so I'm hoping Kaiku somehow survives because, like someone else commented, how can he be narrating his own death? Regardless, I am eagerly awaiting the animated versions of Kizumonogatari & Hanamonogatari! Great series!

Well.. shits gone wrong because "TRUST" was a given. (SPOILERS -DOWN-) She really got on "over the insane psychology" way... (Long pool of words.. down.) Damn Ougi... its all your fault that this madness gone totally wrong!! If she wasn't deceived the first time .. then that smart bastard's plan should have gone smoothly.. but it wasn't... Its her second time to be deceived.. so naturally She learned her lesson ... Ougi is to blame with. Kaiki on a desperate situation!! HAH!! NOW I KNOW WHAT'S IN THE CLOSET LOL!! Damn.. I didn't thought that whole "manga artist thing" was her most precious secret .. maybe she is an eroge artist!? nahh no.. it can't be.. because its a melt-your-brain opportunistic romantic comedy.(I really blurted it out..) but considering her personality now.. maybe.(and .. All that saying of me is TRUTH... damn .. i didn't really think that you're on the eroge category ..Sengoku!! and but I gladly accept this fact because its a rom/com anyways.. so its okay. (with me) its not that Yuris or BLs (no offense!!) haha!! sengoku is a "real" pervert in some point!! well.. if she got to know her secret.. Reaction : KAWAII!!. She got pretty pissed there lol!! Kaiki's last resort was that!? Don't know if its clever or stupid .. well.. he got her pissed anyway. Kaiki was finally able to persuaded Sengoku to realized that "Its not only ARARAGI KOYOMI IN THIS WORLD" and he also made her realize.. a thing that something she can only do or something that will really enjoy her own self with it ... and that is... HER REAL DREAM. Kaiki Deishuu... I SALUTE YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART . YOU'RE THE MAN!! *Salutes* and *Respects* . and that's how he deceives Sengoku Nadeko... damn.. MAN TEARS. Nadeko Medusa Ends!!!... here the main protagonist coming in the end ... didn't hitagi told her the story!? .. but good timing .. now , your harem was reduced .. but you got to learn something important :D Fact : Senjougahara was the one who put a letter on his hotel room. Holy!! Kaiki... He Can't Die just like that!! I hope he live for money's sake!! Ougi was the secret antagonist all this whole time!! I mean I know I have many dubious things about her own life ..She is so weird in many ways.. Hitagi End Ends!!!... My Opinion ( about Nadeko being a manga artist) , Its not something to be embarrassed off .. Its your own dream. your work that was build with flesh and blood. Its your own talent that led you on that path . and importantly, Its something you should be proud of. I Don't really care about other people anyways.. (except for my family of course) so I don't care about their judgments/perspective , good or bad about my work of art. I Don't care if they treated it as trash or praised like professionals... as along as one understands me .. I'll be as happy as I can even if the whole world hates me for that. Pretty good Episode (except for the ending). It really can't be the end!!! Nice Arc too!!! ... It got kaiki as a Full Main protagonist role for some times... This is season is amazing in many ways!!! Overall Conclusion , Definitely , One of the Best anime in anime's history!! I really loved the whole series!!! From Its Cliffhangers , Jokes and gags , Dramatic ends and the exciting Battle of words!!! so here I am writting out of my own thoughts about the greatness of this anime.. It really got passed the limits on What I expected it to be ... It became so awesome!! Plot : It has many Different plot from many different arcs.. It got me very much... mixed of emotions because sometimes.. it can be Sad and dramatic , Irritating and frustrating or even Good and great .. nonetheless , It brought out mega Plot twists that really twist out the very ends of the stick thus , It gotten so amazing in the end . Characters : hmm... Characters... aside from the koyomi's harem.. I like to point out that the other "side" characters have improved alot in their respective places.. even Kaiki got to be an MC on a arc.. and it turns out really great!! (but I don't like that ending though..) Now , Relationships of each individuals really got improved ... from unrequited love to real love. and from real love to yandere's love (Some was yandere's love...) .. but near the end of this season... It gets pretty Dramatic enough... that character developed developments got brought down one by one ... its necessarily killing them .. though there's a bit of that... in any case , It was smashed into pieces to the point of "cannot be repaired but Deus ex machina can" . but at the least... I hope that it will get on its normal place and pretty much .. everybody will be happy. Animation/Art/Settings : Characters were fantastic in the eyes... though there were some scenes that they're really look weird enough on the screen... Art is exceptional. its hugely exploited as a Original artwork... but the different colors of the frames.. it does look annoying in some point... Settings is "typical" but was better than being "typical" itself. the whole concept of it was.. the point outs of different variety of colors ... It didn't use the "typical" concept of a shounen anime.. instead used its own original art line. oh... the only one thing I dislike about it is.. the lack of people in the anime ... Its pretty creepy like a deserted place where just the characters is present. Sounds : Sounds were amazing!!! It got a pretty good tone!! It has a well-written lyrics .. the rhythmic tunes sync so much That I feel comfortable and its pleasing to my ears also. My Gratitude for the composers and singers of the songs :) Final Words :... hmm... Well... I typed What I want to say .. then its just my only wish. My Only wish is ... HAVE MORE SEASONS AND BEST WISHES FOR THE SALES :D Its pretty obvious that ... This is not the real ending. Thank you for Reading my long comment :D Thanks SHAFT :)

I'm a bit disappointed by the ending. It was good, I just set up my expectations too high. I remember episode 15, after the ED they showed a clip about Senjougahara, Araragi and Shinobu fighting Sengoku. I was expecting that but it didn't happen. Good episode overall, I'm still surprised that the thing inside the closet was manga, I really thought Kaiki was just spouting bullshit. Damn Ougi, I'm getting more and more curious to who she is and what's her purpose for doing these things. Really loved the show tho 10/10, I hope for more seasons :D

Great ending to a great arc. Love Kaiki. Lol @ Nadeko freaking out when Kaiki told her secret. Overall not as good as Nisemonogatari the first arcs were a bit meh but still 7/10 because of the last arc. Kaiki seems dead here but he is one of characters of Hanamonogatari which is a sequel ..? Interesting.

Spoilers. first of all , WTF ..! out of the blue kaiki got taken out, just like that?????? i don't dig that at-least. didn't expected him to be taken out just yet. because there's only one kaiki , i mean just look at his character just facinating . hope he is still alive , im not being a sisy it was just not the right time. ( planning to check the novel and manga whether to check if he survived the blow to the head.) *tho i think he is alive* But when it come to the overal i think its quite satisfying how it ends. first i thought kaiki was pulling a kamikaze stunt *though still knew he wouldn't die at that point* ( Since i don't have money saved up , i felt really glad from the bottom of my heart...that i was able to earn a bit of pocket change at the very end.) felt kinda bad when he said this.

Emnay said: So manga was in the closet? That's... anticlimactic but it makes sense. Fucking RIP Kaiki, I wonder if it was Kanbaru at the end? It would be kind of ironic how Kaiki did it for Kanbaru and Kanbaru ended up killing him, maybe due to her arm acting up again? I don't know, I just hope they adapt the Final Season novel. Nah the one who killed Kaiki was the kid who cast the snake curse on Nadeko. The curse ended up reversing and the snake went back and attached itself to the curse caster. |

Just finished watching this. Man wtf Kaiki. Totally misunderstood Kaiki. Just when you realize that he was a good guy deep down, his last bit of indirect karma came back and killed him. As Ononoki said: - He destroyed the cult that took in Senjougahara's mom, even if it didn't help in the long run. - He got her parents to divorce, because her mom's delusions probably would have led to her being raped and killed by cultists. - He was apparently trying to help Kanbaru? At least that's what he said but helping her with what exactly I don't know. - He also helped Sengoku go back to being a human, rather than just deceiving her. Gotta say I was kind of upset with this season. They had Hachikuji pass on to the afterlife, which was sad as all hell. They killed Kaiki wich was a bit said in it's own way, and they turned Sengoku from a cute middle schooler into a really immature, mentally fucked up yandere. She went from being like my third favorite character to dead last after watching this season.
