I enjoyed the art style, not so much the animation itself, I think a little bit more of budget would have been beneficial.

In any case, amazing episode, incredibly directed; it got pretty dark fast but it is a good promise of how the story will end I guess.

Unlimited Budget Works is just a meme forget about it

this kind of low frame rate or variable frame rate animation style with deformed art styles on characters is called Kanada School of Animation

It has its charm, undoubtedly. Fluid animation doesn't mean good anime, I agree with you.
I still think a few more frame rates here and there would have made the trick for me. Just a preference.

Episode of the year contender, fantastic work by Kai Ikarashi. The reception for this episode seem to be quite good, except for some outliers that disliked the experimental nature of his style.

I think that the style of this episode really match with the topic of it, for sure the best episode ‘til now, also I loved the flashback of Anti in Gridman. I’m liking where is this going.

The episode was great, the animation strangely felt the most TRIGGER traditional of all episodes.

Gave a little about of some past, but was a disappointing episode too.
Yomogi part was meh, if you look at of all was the least meaningful past. Chise story would be interesting.

The Minami sisters story,if this is really the end of the story, felt like climb a mountain and at the top you see that had an elevator to get to the top. Sure, brought closure. But with that build up over 9 episodes, felt unfulfilling.

Really well directed and visually interesting episode but a massive far cry from the equivalent “Dream” episode in Gridman.

Yume getting closure over her sister's death in this way feels… kind of wrong? It felt like the show was going the route of her just not being able to find out what happened there and having to move forward regardless, but here she’s straight up told “Nah it wasn’t suicide, don’t worry about it”.

I still don’t quite get what Koyomi's story is meant to be about. Is he basically just pining over a high school love who wasn’t the best person? His story feels massively undercooked.

RIP Chise's hopes and dreams of actually getting a proper arc I guess. Guess she’s fine with her worth as a part of the team being intrinsically linked to being able to contribute to fights.

Yogomi continues to basically just be the audience surrogate, which is weird because in the first episode he had that whole thing with his new stepfather which hasn’t been brought up again?

It’s weird because in a way the show is hitting a lot of the right notes coming from Gridman, but in terms of overall themes and story focus it feels like it’s not even trying. Gridman was excellent because it presented as a regular monster of the week show that eventually opened up to being a very different type of story about something you didn’t expect, whereas Dynazenon feels like it’s content just being a regular giant monster show, despite the fact it’s seemingly set up heaps of threads that feel like they’re going somewhere but then don’t.

the most interesting for me was Knight, when he was shown as a child I remembered the kaijuu boy from Gridman, I don't remember much about him, but I remember that he lived on the street and starved, Knight apparently suffered from the same thing, and their designer children are very similar...

Brain stuff.

NGL I got through that whole first episode without realising that Knight actually was Anti, but I’m baffled as to how anyone could watch this episode and not make the link.

I was really excited coming into this episode having heard that this episode would be made by the same people who worked on the amazing episode 9 of Gridman, and it certainly didn't disappoint. I really liked how much of the cast's past was explored this week with the scene between Yume and her sister being the highlight for me. Also enjoyed the cameos and references to Gridman this episode, like Akane showing up in Anti's past and the weapon Gridknight used to defeat the kaiju bearing great semblance to the circular saw weapon Anti used back in Gridman.

The meta physical attack in this episode is more like UltraSeven rather than UltraMan. Actually, what came in my mind as most relevant was "the sea of Dirac" episode of Evangelion.

this episode was insane kinda thought it was a style of choice change due to the fact this show has looked perfectly fine the whole season.

don't truly understand Gauma's angle yet but its feeling less and less like he was the good one in all of it

I’ve been loving this show so far, but this episode absolutely blew me away, can’t get over how much I love it lol. Cool to hear the reason the art seemed slightly different was because of the director Kai Ikarashi, that was some damn good stuff. Very excited for the last 2 episodes, I’m sad the show’s almost over but imo it’s been a very good one, one of my personal favorites this season.

i don't feel it's downgrade
I like it because it's like other anime where it's on the really intense fight like Boku no Hero where Iida use her max speed and Naruto vs Sasuke.
What i mention on top is when Yomogi running and try to break that wall, for me that's freaking cool to see Yomogi detail like that

So there's 2 ep left and the problem left maybe Gauma past like it's shown on last minute on this ep and Yomogi instance domination
I hope last 2 ep can cover all of this
Yomogi past is still unknown but maybe not that important cuz Yomogi seems don't have any big Regret like the other
The princess is still unknown and the Kaiju Egnestic still not shown on last minute

Today's episode is fully packed with emotion, and minami smile at the end gosh I felt that,
I loved how minami sings with flaws here and there

Honestly, for me Dynazenon win my heart better, the characters just felt very natural and raw, like it's a daily conversation for me
Idk how to say it, but it felt so natural

I wonder what was that last scene abt when they show gauma, it seems to hint something, but oh well another episode to wait for

breaking dimensions!!!
5/5.
another plus was the direction of this episode wherein they put very few OST and most if it has no music which made more impact on the various scenes!!

Holy fucking shit, that episode was amazing. Everyone and everything just suddenly disappearing like that is terrifying, what kind of fucking kaiju was that? I am already looking forward to the eventual 3rd installment of the Gridman universe.

That Akane cameo though, and it's nice to see smol Anti again. I guess Kano really just accidentally died... or she was lying. But either way, Yume got her closure. Even Koyomi probably, Yomogi's reaction to seeing his supervisor was hilarious. Now I am wondering who that Princess is. So the reason Gauma betrayed the eugenicists is because they tried to destroy the country because the country didn't care about them anymore, but the only thing Gauma cares about is the princess. I am curious about those worlds though, are they like some multiverses or something, it seemed like they still existed even if they left already. But, damn that episode was fucking phenomenal, I am really looking forward to the next episode.

So everything is connected somehow. Everyone was given a second chance to confront their past and some lived it differently while some just remembered it.
Also that end scene raise many questions. Is Gauma already dead? Is he living a kaiju memory? That was some deep foreshadowing.

Its now episode 10 and its really good.. in this episode, it all started out peaceful, until a very powerful kaiju appeared, only to make people disappear?! And make them go to their own past?! As its not possible to go into the past, it is maybe an illusion made from the kaiju.. well, what would u do if u get to go back to ur past? All that regret from the past, past love, past opportunity, past people, and etc.. even if its an illusion, would u still like to live in that world? For me, its a no.. since as time only goes one way, our only choice is to move forward with everything.. and that means acceptance of our past.. i mean, our past is what makes us who we all are today right? Anyways, i rate the episode a 4.5 of 5, 4.5 for both story and art.. :)

What a bombastic episode. Genuinely did not see this one coming. The animation, reactions, and facial expressions felt so Fooly Cooly, I loved it.

It looks like this episode had the crew confront their pasts along with their regrets. Gauma still being the biggest question mark. But it looks like he's willing to go to great lengths for the princess, even destroy the Kaiju Eugenists.

The scene between Yume and her sister was really nice, she finally got some closure.

A really fantastically directed episode.

Easily one of the best anime episodes ever made. Art style change up, a true portion of fear caused by cold sudden and extremely frightening kaiju ability, huge character progression and epic action. I love anime

Also, it seems that Gauma is built up to be the villain for the final episodes yo. Killed his comrades because of some queen. If he meets her again, will he agree to betray and attack the Dynazenon squad? Is the queen maybe like the first kaiju in the human form that is kinda like a god figure? I don't know what to expect

-if Knight is Anti, who's the woman with him?

-if Gauma and the others got betrayed by the princess, why is HE called betrayer?

-if they were killed back then how so they're alive in the present and how did they travel in time?

-so, Yume's sister really was not bullied nor somehow involved in something shady about her bf. She just died by accident? Wonder why her bf looked like he didn't give a damn, then.

-ok, Koyomi didn't accept his crush's invitation to run away with money. So what? Why is he an unemployed weird man living in a room with his cousin?! Those two didn't get explained very much, honestly.

To answer your questions:

1) The woman with Anti/Knight is grown-up Anocillus the 2nd/2nd.
You may remember her as that homeless kaiju girl in the green hoodie back in Gridman.

2-3) Hopefully that gets answered in the remaining few episodes.

4) Boyfriend likely feel guilt over not being able to have done anything for Kano back then.

5) Presumably Koyomi's fear and doubt affected his outlook and life choices from that day on, leading him to become the unemployed 30-something we see today.

This thread is kinda baffling to me. His relationship with his school crush is portrayed as such an toxic relationship that it’s kinda hard to feel much sympathy for him? Like this flashback is him regretting that he didn’t make the super questionable decision of running away with a bunch of stolen money?

And poor Chise doesn’t even get an arc. She gets a fake out that implies she’s got self-harm scars and gets a mid season power up that apparently washes away the fact that the rest of her friends were all big ignoring her despite her best efforts to help where she could.

Now that I think about it, I hate that they introduced someone with a relatable post-school problem and then just ended up going straight back to the school setting as the whole basis of it.

Omg this episode was really wonderful, 5/5, seeing them facing their past and what they regret like that was good, but with that stunning direction it just looked incredible, at least now Yume's drama with her sister seems to be kinda resolved with what we learnt and how it wasn't intentional, the puzzle is finally resolved
