Wow I'll be staying away from the forums on this one. It's such a waste of time to comb through the bullshit to read decent posts.

Erika is my favorite character. Always had a thing for them cute tomboys. I like what I've seen so far. Check back at ep 26. Enjoy.

Mayumi's my favorite girl by far, it's sad how..... normal she is in the anime so far. Such an awesome character. Nothing wrong with Erika, she's incredible as well. She and Tatsuya have a scene in the Visitors Arc (9-11) that is probably the 2nd most badass scene in the LNs. she's a really cool girl.

And yea, this thread is full of trolls, but it's not like we didn't see that coming hah.

It's kinda sad how people argue over pointless things. I thought the point of watching anime was to enjoy it? People talking about how it's trash because it's not animated the way you wanted or that the voices are off/other nitpickings really should find something better to do. A show isn't going to be perfect for everybody, so take it for what it is: is the show interesting? Is it entertaining?

Stop filling this thread with your bullshit preferences and then saying that the show sucks when its only the first episode.

Have you seen the ANN reviews for it? 1/5, 1/5, 2/5. Sickening. Then they have a little circlejerk on the forums about how bad they thought it was, and anyone else questioning why gets shot down.

Meanwhile all those Fairy Tail advertisements supporting their site.... Fairy Tail got a good review despite being awful crap xD

I am really torn between Erika and Mayumi, Miyuki and a certain girl is right after them though (not Honoka btw). They removed some of the conversation of Tatsuya and Mayumi from the start.....should have included it.

Heh. I like your spirited defense of the show - but I can only suggest: Don't take ANN to heart. It's been the trashbin of the anime community, so why are you now expecting to find gold there?

It's really simple. This is the first third of the first volume of a 2-book Light Novel arc. Whoever pretends to be able to extrapolate plot or character depth for the entire show automatically disqualifies themselves from any rational debate. They are not really discussing the show - they are trying to sound smart and funny to the hater club. This kind of "feedback" tells more about the writers than about the show they pretend to review.

Quite similar to several posts in this forum, by the way. I'm chuckling whenever someone mutters about "gary-stu anime, dropped" - because in this episode Tatsuya is getting clobbered by his sensei and pushed into the weed class. How could this be Gary Stu? It's a clear sign that someone has read some silly pseudo-summary from his circles and tries to be cool by regurgitating it, not even realizing how stupid it is.

Well, I don't mind. Once the real droppers are gone, the air will clean a bit, and then we'll only have to contend with the trolls, who pretended to drop it, but then miraculously stay ;)

The main siblings are both incredibly dull and uncomfortably creepy. What an achievement.
Also meganekko, rly, you knew they were siblings by their "auras"? They have the same fucking surname, any moron could tell they were siblings omg.

This show isn't great so far. It's just... ok. At a push. I'm hoping it'll really pull its finger out, but I'm not hopeful.
Really, all I'm waiting for now is that Juumonji guy from the shorts. If he's not as cute as he was there then I doubt this show'll be worth it.

So they actually showed Material Burst from the Reminiscence Chapter right at the beginning - lol.

A lot of dialogue and Tatsuya's thoughts were cut out, like the scene with Shibas running to Yakumo's place, in the novel there was a ton of technical blabber explaining what are they using and why - not just 'oh here, magic'.

Generally everything intellectual there was about the novels was omitted and replaced with as much action as one could possibly fit into the first episode. Big dislike from me so far, wonder how it goes further on.

During the last seconds of ED/OP you can see Masaki -whatever-his-name-was- Crimson Prince, which means at least 4 volumes will be animated. But, judging from the first scene I mentioned, they're either aiming to animate 8 volumes or some scenes from the 5th and 8th volume might be used as fillers.

I would have preferred Yokohoma Arc on second season. 8 volumes in 26 episodes is rushed as hell. Vol 1-5 would been a good way to do it. But i guess they are going for the former approach........Miki is already shown for a bit there. Also they left out a part about Tatsuya getting the highest score in the theory portion of the exams.

The first episode of an anime is supposed to be an accurate representation of what the rest of the anime will be about. It sets up the story and outlines the general theme and direction of the series. From watching this episode all I got was hinting at incest and harem elements in an overused setting with typical archetypal characters, because they obviously wanted to put those front and center for all of the watchers to see. Obviously these elements appeal to a wide audience of people, but I happen to not be in that intended audience. I'm sorry my opinion offended you, but I've been watching anime for many years and I can usually tell from the first episode if I'm going to enjoy a series or not. Theres no reason to go calling shitpost, because someone doesn't share your taste in anime. I'm not telling anyone to stop watching the anime, cause it's shit, your free to enjoy and watch whatever the hell you want. Stop attacking other people's opinions, because you think yours are better.

harem and incest part are totally off, but its true that it gives that feeling at first,
and i think people will like it from episode 3 or so.

Clap. Clap.

Not that this episode was good. This is the dull part of the series. If you just look at this episode alone, it was rather boring and generic. Once they start expanding more on the theory of magic it will be better.

Classic internet community right here. I'll try not to frequent the forums until things settle down a bit. Maybe halfway through the series when people have mostly decided to watch or drop it w/ conviction (and hopefully good reasons).

I'm not hyping the series up since it's really a niche series. Either you love it to death or avoid it like the plague. I can already declare that those who dislike SAO w/ a passion are going to heap on lots of hate on this series. Regardless of it being unfounded or not.

Anyway, hope you enjoy yourselves guys and gals. Whatever it is that you'll enjoy the most (the show, trolling, being vocal and opinionated, intellectual discourse etc.) I hope you guys have a blast. As for me, I'll just hide in a bunker until all the flak dies down. So long folks.

1. Oreimo cast + incest detected. Shiba is very interesting. Such a deep thinker

2. Love the dark/intense vibe w/ the OST. What a mystical feeling

3. The fight scenes w/ the teacher really sold me

4. Miyuki x tatsuya relationship is very alluring. Wouldn't mind if it goes past platonic.

5. It's already ranked #414 on MAL and it's just the first ep. Very impressed

Solid first episode. Nice animation. Madhouse has done an excellent Job.

First episodes will be a bit boring to newcomers as they are sticking pretty close to the light novels and the first volumes are there to build upon the characters and setting.

However once this series gets going it will come at you like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sXlaBa75Iw.

I understand people comparing it to SAO since they're both web novels, but honestly, the similarities end there.

That's like comparing The Tower of God to Girl the Wild's since they're both webtoons.

No, no. You misunderstand. I'm not saying the two are similar in any way. It's just that the trend nowadays is that when a series is this hyped up it'll get bashed by haters regardless of whether they have an acceptable basis or not.

It's just that reading through all of those will probably tire out my weary mind even more than now (and I'm stressed enough w/ work as it is). I'll just avoid the forums until people can have a proper base to hold an argument on whether they like or dislike the show. W/c is to say probably halfway through the series or a little bit into the end after most of the story elements have been presented.

I'm an LN reader as well and I'm trying to keep a low profile since I've been shot down for spoiling too much in other threads.

A word of advice for all the fans: Don't let all the hate get to you. It's normal. We all have different tastes. As long as we don't provoke volatile responses the trolling (hopefully interlaced w/ some well thought out opinions) should taper down somewhat. In the end we like what we like and they hate what they hate. Let's just agree to disagree and not give in to juvenile provocation. I welcome discussions that are well founded though. It's interesting and really informative. Kinda like when someone points out faults about you that you don't notice yourself.

I have literally written paragraphs and essays for the past 7 pages working through misunderstandings and whatnot. I have not used the word "hater" once. Only one time did I call someone a troll, because they had the nerve to give a one sentence shitpost, then come back later and do it again.

It was directed at the post above and pretty much everyone else who claims that every negative post or review of this show is "trolling" or "hating". I stated what I think about this episode before, it was plain boring with crappy characters, rave beam magic, and stupid design, specifically the clothing.

Characters are generally not fleshed out in the first episode, especially when it introduces so many, but all I can tell you there is that you're wrong.

What was wrong with the magic? It was very well done. All of the LN readers were curious as to how they were going to portray it in the anime and we thought it was excellent. How would you have done it differently?

And lastly, the design. Ignoring the fact that the designs are all copied from the LNs, I thought they were great. (Except Morisaki, but he's a minor character and nobody likes him anyways). Characters were recognizable, girls were modest yet attractive, guys looked handsome in their robes and suits. What did you dislike about the design, specifically the clothing?

If you can't pinpoint what you didn't like, what would you have done differently?

Right back at you..........if we "fans" say something we are accused of spoiling and if we decide to let the anime only watchers form an opinion and just tell them that it is good, we are accused of hyping. So haters and trolls are free so spread misinformation and random crap while we "fanboys" are to blame. The only people i commented on are random trolls and people spreading misinformation not people disliking the anime. Fanboys and Hater are opposite sides of the same coin and they will always be there. But put your double standard and hypocrisy somewhere else before blaming the "fans".

That fighting scene!! It'll be great if they can keep it up. Quite a promising start so far. It's massively hyped but it's too early to tell if it deserves it.

I'll keep watching it even just for Saori Hayami. Her voice is so Godly she can sing me a lullaby consisting of solely curse words and I'll still sleep soundly and have a wet dream. She's really at her best here as Miyuki.

PS: This might be an incest that I don't mind.

CSR :/

I was so happy for the first few episodes of it, then, well, the rest happened hah.

A lot of people are speculating that Tatsuya is a hidden OP character, and the anime heavily hints at it too.

All I can say is my first time reading the LNs I got that same vibe too, and I was surprised again and again and again and again. It really knows how to keep you surprised with character developments. (Instead of shonen TRAIN-> NEW SKILL->WIN->REPEAT)

This series has so much hype, after watching the first episode it really does hint great action and a very OP/mysterious main character.

Although it gives off such an awkward vibe throughout the episode with the Bro-Sis dialogues, It's probably because of the characters' (specially the brother) cold first impressions, well maybe it's just natural being that it's still just the first episode.

But overall great first episode, can't wait for the next one. Expecting lots from this series since it's LN and manga are really popular.

It seems good, I haven't read the LN but I wasn't that interested at first, I just hope it doesn't turn out with a lot of magical cliché. If it stays at this level I might even appreciate it.

Anyway, to LN readers, there is some incest going-on here or it's a just unrequited love/gag? Don't mind little spoilers.

Just finished the 1st ep and it was quite good, love the magic animation and the vibe and bgm when it gets into their "there's only 2 of us in this world" scene. Though the char design for Miyuki & Mayumi looks a little bit childish compared to the manga imo. Also, Kana's voice doesn't sound like her usual signature voice/style in this.

I really enjoyed this. I was expecting the older brother to be useless and the sister to be a high and mighty tsundere so them not being that has made me glad so far. It has a slight incest feel but if what the people who have been reading the novels say, than it's nothing to worry about.
