I'm reading some of the comments and most of what I see are people who aren't appreciating what this season was about. They didn't kiss, I was upset too but to give it a low rating I cannot. Loved this season. There relationship growing was really cute. Lots of laughs as well. Had more fights and their building relationship was great. Just because they didn't kiss does not mean it was a lackluster season but I guess people have their opinions and I have mine

Goddamn cat ruined it all xD They were so close, Shinka and Co even spent some time setting it up lol.

Overall this was better than what I had expected, judging from the reviwes...7/10.

Of course no kiss. Lol well save it for the next though.

Little to no progress to Rikka and Yuuta's relationship as what other people felt and that's the reason of low ratings from some people.

Well anyways, overall I love it. 9/10. Cute ambience of the series. The characters and everything. Only thing that is an issue is the slow progress of romance.
Need more development of characters. Nibu and Deko. Make Kumin and Isshiki though. I didn't like how Isshiki ended up. I hope they fix his part in the story next time. Of course the contract between the Dark Flame Master and The Wicked Eye must move forward even further.

Alrighty then, let's wait for season 3. We need more.

Damn, this was one good enjoyable series. Personally, I liked Season 1 more due to various obvious reasons but I liked Season 2 almost just as much as Season 1. Primarily, the obvious reason that I mentioned above all leads up to the filler-ish storyline. I mean, even the last episode felt like it to a certain extent. Nonetheless, Season 2 was better than I expected, my initial expectation was certainly low due to criticisms diminishing my expectations, and tons better than the general opinion. 8.7/10 for Season 1 and 8.4/10 for Season 2. Can't wait for the movie now which is due to air in January 2018!

I would give the second season 6/10 as well vs the fist season's 8/10. I mean I liked it some of the parts were cute like the beginning half of the field trip. I did not read the novel so I don't know how it goes in there, but to build up two seasons to a kiss and jabait us like that, it just seemed tedious, I did however like the napping character (forgot her name) so I didn't mind her having an episode.

Wow didn't expect this much "hate" for this episode, just because of that kiss? After the third time didn't work I was pretty sure that it won't happen, maybe in the OVA or the movie that follows though?

Overall felt similar to the first season, but they added a new best girl which made it a tad more enjoyable. But not enough to give it really a higher rating for me. 7/10

I expected more, I mean come on. No kiss?! Figures, a single phone ring would disrupted them..*sighs* I had high hope for this anime but this season gave me a few disappointments. I still enjoy their relationship and comedies.

I like Shichimiyas character, wish she could develop more just like everyone else, she is the reason the season a “little” live. Anime is still cute as ever but honestly I liked the first season better.

Exactly! The first season... whatever from a 0 to a 0.5... you could still call that a development. But this season was totally for nothing. I was constantly hoping for Yuuta to dumb Rikka and go for Shichimiya. What's the BS about growing up but wasting your time and opportunities on an immature girl.

I wasn't expecting they to kiss to be honest, and so it was. Makoto got himself a boy but he wasn't even in this season as comedic relief I guess even a character like that would break the girl paradise of Yuuta. I didn't liked this season as much even tou it had some good moments, but didn't feel much progress in the characters.

Wow... this is pure garbage.
Nibutani and Tooka are the only decent characters in the entire franchise. The rest simply refuse to develop.
Satone had potential to be a decent character aswell, but nope, KyoAni would rather have her not even feel slightly realistic and instead she just "bwahahaha" her problems away off screen. Such bad writing, holy shit. Why is she insisting in sticking with her delusions if she no longer thought they are needed? Denying you love someone by acting like a little kid isn't something a real person would do, it doesn't work like that, and it makes no sense she completely forced her entire life to be a mess with delusions when she said herself she got out of it when she figured out she loves Yuuta. What the hell...

I can't understand what's the appeal in Rikka either, how can someone want to have a relationship with her is beyond me. She is just a teenager with a loli body that insists on acting like a little kid the ENTIRE time regardless of situation. Her delusions got to the point she no longer thinks in any logical way and does dumb stuff for the sake of being a Chuunibyou. Her relationship with Yuuta isn't a romantic relationship, they aren't lovers, there is literally zero passion or attraction between them. It simply feels like Yuuta enjoys taking care of a "mentally disabled" kid by pretending to be lovers. I don't understand how can he enjoy that after he got out of his delusional phase and figured out acting that way isn't healthy. Just like anything else in Rikka's life, she is just pretending to love him for the sake of her delusions, and he is going with it simply because he is a dense MC that gets excited when a girl with a brain activity of a 6 year old girl says she loves him...

Season 1 wasn't amazing, it wasn't a masterpiece like some people claim it to be, but it was atleast "cutesy" enough to be enjoyable, sometimes, if you ignore Rikka being this stupid. But season 2 is completely garbage, they simply made a new season without planning what they want to do for the sake of milking money. This is just sad...

Oh how cute, you are getting butthurt because someone dislikes an anime you adore.
I had a lot of free time as I was in-between tests in college and a few people suggested me this anime. I gave it a try, and felt like its average at best. They kept on insisting so I kept telling myself "sure, why not... if they insist this much it has to have something to offer", and well... they were wrong. I guess they simply like animes that have no point, arcs, complete arcs being the same from start to end, and just having a bunch of delusional "cute" girls doing delusional "cute" stuff as a premise.

While it has decent to good animation for the most part, and some character interactions were cute, Rikka as a character is horribly written. She doesn't learn from past experiences, she never changes, she assumes the dumbest stuff over any outcome. People around her literally understand she is a lost cause and got to the point they simply try to ignore her stupidity and somehow interact with her normally. Keep in mind, being this delusional in real life would end her being forced to go to therapy. She is not healthy, and she can't even differentiate between real and her imagination sometimes.

Who knows...? I've been with my current girlfriend for a year and a half, and she doesn't seem to complain about "how she can be with me". Feel free to ask her yourself, if you keep remaining this butthurt I'll gladly let her talk with you so you can calm down.

Have a nice day, honey. :)

I understand how everyone feels about the failed kiss at the end, because if you think about it, it was completely unnecessary.

First things first, the kiss between Rikka and Yuuta would symbolise them developing their relationship and Rikka learning how to love him a little more properly. The whole last 5 minutes or so was spent with Rikka explaining that she wants to love him but can’t help shying away, which from S1 and S2, you can understand why. Finally, she overcomes it, kisses him on the cheek and he does the same. If they ended it THERE, I don’t think anyone would complain about the lack of kiss on the lips. Why? Because even though she kissed him on the cheek once before, it symbolised Rikka overcoming her dilemma. Then she went and got ready to kiss him on the lips, making the cheek kiss an appetiser, and the lip kiss the real symbol of her overcoming her dilemma - but then THEY DON’T KISS. Completely undermines the past 5 minutes and whole season, even S1, and all for what. So they could announce that the cat gave birth.

I did what someone told me to do a few months back, which was to watch S1 and then the movie because S2 wasn’t very important at all, and after doing that and now just watching S2 because I had free time, I really understand and appreciate that advice I was given. Only the 1st episode, school trip episodes and maybe the Touka beach episode as well as the last 2 bad episodes are really relevant. Who even is that (actual) fake Mori Summer? Oh well, imo Chuuni is still a great series in total with good main characters. It’s just that the story is about a girl and boy whose relationship develops really slowly, and that’s not an entertaining watch to some people.

I swear, I can relate to so much of everything in this anime in just my one experience of love and heartbreak. There's so much amazing things in this episode and the series as a whole that I'm not even going to decipher it all until maybe later one day when I revisit the series. To top it all off though, I have to say...

Everything about this series is fucking beautiful. It may not be a masterpiece overall, but in my eyes I value it extremely highly. Thank you for everyone involved. I truly am happy.

I just finished this after finishing the first season and realizing there was a second. I had no expectations going into it, but i did really feel the lack of depth. I mean, in the first season, so much of it was about Rikka's relationship to her family, trauma, etc, and it had a deep and meaningful story. This season it just felt like it was dancing around the central relationship without making any meaningful progress. I'm not even mad about no kiss at the end because it was clear the whole time they weren't going to go that far.

Overall I would say that people should only watch the first season...lol. This season was so fluffy and I felt myself getting pretty bored and dragged down throughout it.

Certainly poorer than the first season, spent like two thirds of the 12 episodes spinning its wheels (best not to speak of that stupid sleep episode!) and then actually goes somewhere at the end. Thought might see a LITTLE progress with their relationship but after the setup of course the anime pulls the rug out from under you with a phone call so no kiss at the end. Dating for a what a year now and living together but haven't even kissed yet. I know this is anime and crap like this is standard but there are limits to my patience. I guess I can keep it a 6 but so tempting to make it lower than that.

Great episode enjoyed every second of it. Lmao at Isshiki though look at how they massacred my boy and he got an aggressive yaoi stalker lmao. We didn't get the kiss but, that doesn't make the ending bad in fact I loved it. It makes sense for their relationship to be slow and it isn't out of the ordinary for a relationship to be that slow. Now onwards to the OVA and then the movie.

Poor Isshiki he will succumb to yaoi land ._.

Second season overall this is polarizing to say in terms of yuuta x rikka, I can see why people get upset over this season. We get side characters more screentime but I'm disappointed they botchered Isshiki to a mere cameo char. On the plus side I like how they handle the drama in this one, in contrast to S1 where comedy and drama scene gap happened too sudden for like 5-10 seconds what the fuck.

This anime focuses on straight romance, but it's nice to see that there's a little bit of everthing for everyone. And by "everything", I mean like there's one straight, lesbian, and gay ship, lol. Poor Makoto, though. He isn't into that.

This is a pretty nice ending. I know people are disappointed with this season, but hopefully the sequel movie wouldn't disappoint! I'd say this is one of the best episodes of this season, along with the one with the Mori Summer impostor.

So the worst part of this season by far is that they would cuck us with that trash cliché. I can honestly believe that a person would be so anxious that their relationship would move that slow. Especially when most of their time time spent together is fucking larping. And yeah Yuta is kind of a simp but it's sweet that he is happy with her. That doesn't mean it will be satisfying to watch. Some of the cute moments were really sweet like on the class trip, but there wasn't enough. And what they were going for in that last scene was actually pretty good, until they ruined it with awful writing.

It's not just that. This season had a lot of slice of life stuff and that's fine. I love slice of life. Some of it was pretty deece but some was awful. I'm talking about that election episode where everything that happened was completely trashed in the end. Way to waste an entire episode but your writers are too incompetent to take the characters in a "slightly" different direction. "How can the series be funny if we have no more fake summer jokes?" But really the problem with a lot of the SoL was that it felt like it got in the way of what was already a glacially slow relationship. If the couple could have been more normal I feel like people wouldn't be as upset with so many inconsequential episodes. Instead we arrive at the end with basically no change.

I don't even want to get into Shichimiya. Basically her entire arc existed to help Rikka takes steps to furthering their relationship... but then Kyoto animation slaps a big fuck you in your face as we don't even get the pay off... what a waste.

Also not as important but this season left my boy Isshiki out to dry. It actually could have been pretty fun to have him and Kumin form a functioning relationship. They seemed to tease it in season one. Of course you'd have better chances of winning the lottery than having Kyoto animation try something like that.

The start felt kind of slow while Chimaera was acting weird

While the episode progresses Rikka ignoring Yuuta in a weird usual way like it's back to square one for the both of them Nibutani makes a move again to make them talk privately

It's getting heated for those two that spicy talk, I was expecting a KISS WHERE WAS IT, At least they kissed each other on the cheek but damn I actually anticipated for a lips to lips action but I guess that's for the movie.

This series was fun to watch with the addition of Shichimiya but I thought things would flow a bit better but still, I loved to see the second season in action it was an enjoyable watch.

I thought season 1 was "fine," the chuuni stuff was pretty excessive but the LARP fight scenes were well animated and cool in their own right. Yuuta and Rikka's relationship develops from nothing into something by the end of season 1, and shows promise that in the future things will develop even further.

In season 2 you get none of that. They have been dating for 6 months and LIVING TOGETHER and yet have 0 physical intimacy. You can hardly even call it dating since they act exactly the same as before they started dating. But okay, fine, the whole point of the second season will be to show how this relationship is immature and they need to develop, right? Wrong. Side characters will constantly point out how ridiculous the situation is but the main characters will make no effort to actually strengthen their relationship beyond finding new ways to LARP about dragons. More than halfway through we get a peck on the cheek by Rikka, okay, this sets the expectations low but shows that maybe there is hope for some character growth. Nope. They never progress further than this, even Nibutani points out in the last 2 minutes how ridiculous the whole situation is. Rikka is afraid to move out of her miniscule comfort zone, and Yuuta does nothing to actually help her step outside of it. Instead of wearing the pants and trying to move things along after they've been dating for a YEAR, he is content to let his mentally-5-year-old girlfriend set the pace of the relationship. Hopefully she won't be too embarrassed to have children by the time she is 50 years old.

Fuck this season, it's a total insult. 2/10, it is at least pretty to look at with the sound and subtitles turned off.

That love triangle plotline was bullshit. Anyway, this was a much weaker season.

4/10

that was a better episode. it was cute. i wish there were more episodes like this this season, but there weren't. the plotline with the new girl was not good

yuta is clueless at times but i don't mind. i think it's realistic. but i really like how he is so patient with rikka and doesn't force her when she's uncomfortable/scared. rikka is largely adorable. sometimes her chuni is a bit over the top for me, but i thought it was dialed back some this season. i don't mind the kiss at the end being interrupted. i was expecting it. i don't need them to kiss or have a physical relationship. i want them to be happy and to enjoy each other. that's what i like about them

6/10 season. significant downgrade from season 1. even that christmas ova was much better (cuter, funnier)

I liked the ending but it felt like more of what Season 1 already told us, that they don't need to conform to society's standards of how a relationship evolves.
They can take it just as comfortable and slow as they want to, it's not like they're stuck in their relationship either, they're slowly getting to where they want to go.
That said, it could've maybe progressed a bit faster.

Shichimiya's whole story was a bit odd, she tries to convince Rikka she had to choose Chuuni or her love for Yuuta as she convinced herself she had to do (all those years ago) and Rikka just ultimately said "Nope, I can do both"
It just felt unnecessary drama all for the sake of Shichimiya finally letting go and overcoming her feelings, or rather accepting that Yuuta is with Rikka and Yuuta has no feelings for her.

The SOL / Comedy was great though, lots of fun moments again.

Unfortunately the flaws and how this season felt like Season 1 in what it was trying to portray but not nearly done as well makes me want to rate it 7/10.
I love the world of Chuunibyou but this season could've been so much better.
