RobCar said: There are some things I still don't quite understand. Loid is working for Westalis, right ? then is Berlint located in Westalis or Ostania? is he a Westalis spy working from inside Ostania? and who does Yor work for, Westalis or Ostania? she's an assassin, but who are the people she is killing ? if they ever find about each other does that mean they will have to try to kill each other ? I think Loid works for Westalis but lives in Ostania. Not sure who Yor works for but I assume her brother will end up being very important (he was blocked out in the photo) |

Mind-blowing to see 2 professionals in different spy-like works become "married" lol It was a nice introduction to Yor following Anya's in the last episode. I like Yor, she's like calm and gentle and has some assassin thoughts sometimes; she definitely contributes some uniqueness to the Forger fam now |

It's definitely experiencing some innate hype in the same way other series do when they start out (like the latest seasons of Attack on Titan being 9+ when they first started or more recently Love is War S3 starting out being 9+ and still being quite high). I have no doubt the score will lower to around the 8.8-8.9 series. However, the anime being as high as it is now can be mainly attributed to the substantially large fanbase of manga readers, myself included, who found the adaptation thus far to look great and be a solid representation of the source material, which is itself also ranked highly at around the 8 6-8.7 range. That, along with the aforementioned innate hype and new audience that found this wholesome action comedy to be fantastic, we're enough to put the score where it is now, though I myself am surprised at SxF being a 9.09 at this point.J3_Omega said: Gween_Gween said: I know that this is too early and just a character introduction, but I don't get the hype as of now. As a manga reader what is your opinion on the adaptation though? While I didnt read the manga, I fairly feel that most of the "great" aspects are lost in translation by lacking the correct execution, so while I get the gags or the tension, I cant laugh at them or feel them because they feel awkward and predictable (Like that is why most works shouldnt 1:1 manga and change the pace to actually work in real time, in my opinion ofc). Like of course the animation and designs looks great, but I also always felt like both WIT and CloverWorks are like peak appearances over substance in many of their works |

While I found the comedic scenes enjoyable to see, I didn't find myself laughing at them like I did with the manga. Same thing with some of the tense dramatic moments. I found them to be adapted well, but they didn't feel like they had the same impact as in the manga. Though I have to say it feels less because they were awkward or predictable (even though I've already seen them before) but because the gags and tension felt far more suited to manga format. Kinda like if you've ever read Junji Ito horror, some scares feel like they were meant to be read rather than watched, so adapting them feels like you're not really getting the same experience, even if they do end up being executed as well as the studio may have intended. There's also the fact that Wit and Cloverworks did more or less censored some of the more over the top violence, which makes sense if you're putting this on TV for a PG-13 audience, but in a show where there's war and death, the censoring of that does take away from the impact and atmosphere that the manga creates.J3_Omega said: Gween_Gween said: J3_Omega said: Gween_Gween said: That's alright. Like of course the animation and designs looks great, but I also always felt like both WIT and CloverWorks are like peak appearances over substance in many of their works That being said, while I do have these problems with the adaptation, I still feel they did quite a good job in other aspects. They put solid voices to the characters who hit the beats of dialogue very well. The animation, though less impactful, fills the gaps of the separate panels and makes the scenes flow well. And the soundtrack surpassed my expectations and was something I honestly never realized I needed in Spy x Family until I heard it. It's pretty much like you say, Spy x Family does have shortcomings as an adaptation in terms of its story and execution, but it makes up for it in a way that only animation can, through solid VA's, animation, and music. If I were to associate a score with it, I'd keep the manga at a 9/10 and put the anime at an 8/10, though I'm still not actually rating anything until I see more than two episodes. XD I would honestly say if you're not feeling this adaptation, give the manga a try and see if you like it better and just follow the story through that medium instead. I've done literally the same thing with with half the manga I'm currently reading since most of their adaptations ended up being flops. XD |

This episode was a wholesome one. I also liked the OP and it's animations and I would say well done for those who animated it. It is great because, this episode was a great one and the scene where Loid proposed is kinda funny but also romantic at the same time. And as for Anya, she is funny as usual. I'm looking forward to the next episode. |

Been a while since I've seen a series the animation quality stands out. Yor is cool but I do wonder why she sort of comes off as dual personalitied. Is one entirely an act or is it just a different side to her? I laughed at the grenade pin used as a makeshift engagement ring. Didn't know Loid had a grenade so I really didn't see that coming. |

What happened to stealthy executions? |

I'm interested to see what will happen now that the main characters have been introduced. If Yor getting rally easily tricked becomes a common plot point it's going to be really disappointing though. I'm also not a fan of the Miraculous Ladybug situation so I hope it doesn't stay for too long (I suppose it could be done well though.) Even Yor is so adorable! Hayami Saori's voice is perfect for her. She seems quite similar to Miyuki too. Anya's way of getting Yor know that Loid doesn't have a wife was hilarious XD Considering their occupation Loid and Yor would make a perfect couple. What Loid said at the party was truly commendable. Yor should definitely fall for him. Actually anyone with a messed up past would fall for him after hearing that. I can already see what a chaotic yet a happy family they would make, waku waku XD |

This continues to be a great show with extremely lovable characters. The sheer fact that a child is portrayed without being annoying at all, just make me appreciate the writer even more. People complaining about the animation but the fight in the middle clearly seems to be done poorly intentionally as a comedic bit, reminds me of Imaishi's work on Kill La Kill. There's a couple of cuts with great subtlety during the assassination piece in the beginning of the episode. My actual problem with the episode is how the directing is not as good as the previous episode which I guess, makes sense since the previous episode was a full Furuhashi episode and I hate how they didn't play the ED because my god, do I love that ED song. The OP is basically Ishihama going all out with a lot of stylistic similarities to his Yama No Susume OP, if only I liked the song more, this would have been my favorite OP of the year (so far) but for now, inferior to Yamashita's Ousama Ranking OP. Not as good as the last episode, but still amazing. 4.5/5 |

Yor is definitely waifu material but she can be hella cold at times. Also, those 'thorn' weapons are so badass. Man, that Camilia lady was such a bitch. Kinda want her to be assassinated by Yor. Despite the natural cliche of spy tropes (looking no further than 007), the operation went south from the get go, yet they are still able to peacefully carry it out, and how an assassin trained to infiltrate, so as to approach the target, could be so clueless? And when talking about parody, it's yet impressed me like in the case of Johnny English or Deathpool. Then again, it sounds like I'm criticising anime for being too... anime. |

Ugh, great, another anime with a stupid af female character. Ofc, shes a woman, she has to be soft spoken and with an iq of a monkey. |

Absolutely hilarious episode, Anya's actions are very funny, Yor seems like a lot of fun, the lies which are working out, the cheesy but fun party confrontation scene, the chase with the funniest proposal I've probably seen. What wasn't to love? Hope it keeps this pace up as this seems like a really fun time, even more now, seeing the full main character cast, very excited for more of their dynamics. |

I love the tiny lovely details in this Anime. Also the fact when Loid Forger gets new tasks by the contracts that giving off animal sounds. I like it. This Anime started so well. :) I watch the three episodes again and again and it still never gets boring. I recognise new things that I haven't seen before. It's so fun to find new things. It is first-class. I hope ist stays this way. I am looking forward:). |

Is Yor's need to marry also a comment on the very real situation in Japan where a woman is seen as too old at this age? |

This was honestly pretty comedic yet action packed, just like the first episode. It's heartwarming to see Anya use her telepath ability to get Twilight (Alias: Loid Forger) and Yor Briar (AKA Thorn Princess). Now she can have an action-packed family. I feel bad for Yor since because of her assassin job she has trouble trying to act like a normal woman, and all her coworkers try to bully her for the fact that she's different. But like the knight in shining armor he is, Twilight comes to save the day. It's funny that she bought the idea of Twilight beating up his "patients" as an innovative way to treat them. I wonder if the two will ever figure out each other's occupations. I was hooked onto the show within the first two minutes of the first episode so I'm excited to see more episodes (TO BE CLEAR I WATCH DUB, NOT SUB). |

Sooo much better imo. I really loved this ep despite knowing what was gonna happen from reading the manga. The art and animation was clean throughout, had the perfect amount of humor and feels, and was overall such an enjoyable ep! aots fosure 。゚( ゚^∀^゚)゚。 |
