| Everyone on the production team save for the voice actors should be ashamed of this. Who looked that this in QA and said "Yeah that looks good, air it." I honestly feel sorry for anyone who was forced to have their name attached to this. |

| I'm going to be one of the brave voices in the crowd who defends... certain parts of this episode. It's bad, but nowhere near the worse-than-Handshakers level of disaster I was expecting going in. I agree that on a visual level, it's a total trainwreck. Uncanny doll-like CGI models, slideshow-tier ultra-stiff 2D animation, weird, poorly-conceived meshes of the two styles in the same static scenes, blatantly terrible lip synching, and some seriously choppy editing with lots of disorienting continuity skips. I will say, though, the fight scenes had some workable, well-paced choreography and were shot in a way that was both dynamic and almost coherent/easy to follow (again, the editing problems got in the way of that). I think in a well-drawn, competently-edited series, they could have looked cool, but as is, they can't Outside the awful 2D/3D meshes, the impression I get here is that either inexperience, poor communication and/or a lack of resources prevented the series from even remotely achieving its likely overambitious visual goals. Whereas if we're going with the Hand Shakers comparison for "anime's rock bottom", that show seemed to have all the resources in the world, but constantly misused them in the most bafflingly ridiculous ways imaginable, which on balance, I'd call an even bigger fail. Then there's the actual story, which has some intriguing ideas, but I'm skeptical if it'll make the most of them given this episode's rather typical setup. There's also little indication of how much effort this series will put into developing its characters or world, since this episode was mostly composed of the "viewer and protagonist gradually make sense of the chaos" style of hook. On the other hand, I can see that at least some effort was put into the script, with lots of properly-delivered exposition and some appropriately placed comic relief. I honestly can't tell if the story will turn out okay, or a disaster on the same level as the visuals. I doubt I'll stick around to find out though. The negatives still outweigh the redeeming factors here, and while the visuals are funny at first, I doubt I can laugh at them for a full season. I do look forward to reviewers roasting it though. |

Rotoscoping is just drawing over CGI. So, kinda half-CGI I guess. That one is kinda strange style. But rotoscoping can look beautiful as well. MAPPA in Yuri on Ice used rotoscoping for most of the skating scenes I believe.  |

No, that's not entirely true. Rotoscoping is an animation technique used by tracing over pre-recorded footage and or 3d animation. Usually it's done over real life footage, so they can capture "real life movement". Or, real life movement that's difficult to replicate without spending a tremendous amount of time to recreate. Both Aku no Hana and the ice skating scenes in Yuri on Ice were rotoscoped over real life footage. |

I was thinking of Kara no Kyokai which was animated first with cgi models and then rotoscoped. gif. I thought they did the yuri on ice with CGI models, but if they used IRL skaters, then no wonder it's so smooth. |

| 5 min 11 sec into the first episode and I can already tell how bad the whole series is gonna be. This is me on my way to waste 5 hours of my life watching crappy CG, characters moving awkwardly :  Gonna watch it at 1.25x or 1.50x speed, this doesn't consider as cheating right? |

| This right here is peak anime. I can't believe something released in 2021 would have worse production quality than RWBY s1 or even cgi shows from 20+ years ago. I find the mix of creepy 3D characters and the 2D characters (who look a somewhat better) laughable. |

| HELLO HELLO I DON'T WANNA MAKE IT OUT THE FAKE!! I forgot about how terrible this anime was so Imma rewatch it xD LMFAOOO the 3D and 2D in one frame is so out of place and Akira looks like a guy who is about to learn how to use a human mouth or something xD. The cooking scene and another of the 2D and 3D is out of the place part 2 but the conversation is too hilarious pls. Omg another 2D and 3D in one frame, man the creator must love doing such thing that don't fit well altogether in one frame and it's hilarious how Akira is just standing there speaking inside his mind to what he should do while the girl is in big help and I can't help to how idiotic his planning to save the girl but instead got crashed into the damn car xD Oh yeah baby Alma with those guns and she be doing that rolling outstandingly and I couldn't stop laughing when she was holding her guns while doing a handstand helpjsjsj but if I have to be honest, the rest of the fight choreography looks really decent, decent as if it's made for video games and such. WTF was that zoom and why is Alma just standing there in the same position and her mouth isn't even syncing pls. Why is Minami smiling when the atmosphere is so tense, also because of the 3D, I literally thought that Alma and Minami was going to kiss and holy fuck that dude just came out of nowhere xD Ew did that dude just put his hand and has the ability to touch Minami's body part, also why is Akira still standing there with his mouth wide open and please the fighting choreography between Alma and that dude felt like some experimental stimulator game to test out their fighting capability xD. Wait so now I understood why Alma is moving like some fucking puppet who can't be controlled its own movement but thank god that Akira was able to control it, this scene beat the shit out of me when the guy was just chasing both Alma and Minami and please, why did Akira showed his virtual self xD |

It combines art with animation and sound to create one of the greatest anime accomplishments to ever exist. All I know is that I am glad that this exists. It's an absolute accomplishment for it to have do. |

| Damn, wish I'd watched this back when it was all the rage. Now I only get to nibble on the stale memes all by my lonesome. I have to say I'm disappointed. I knew I wasn't getting GITS or Psycho-Pass, but it's not even comically bad. Aside from the derpy animation - that rivals Demon Slayer but in the opposite direction - everything else is so-so. At least something like King's Game was outrageous and kept me coming back. If this doesn't pick up on the cringe soon, then all I'm left with is a totally unnecessary chore. But on the plus side, the OP is giving me some Yellowcard vibes and takes me back to 2000s nostalgia. |
