(111) Watch an anime with at least 3 human adults as main characters
Would it be valid if the character is 17 but turns 18 during the course of the series?

For example at NHK ni Youkoso! There are two main adult characters, and the third in age is listed as 17-18, would this be valid?

Does Moriarity from Yuukoku no Moriarty count for the item "a professional in their field"??

The description for the item where 2 main characters are children says they can't be an adult that turns into a kid while retaining their memories: so does that mean I can't use Ascendance of a Bookworm for this item??

They must be 18 or older for the majority of the series (more than half). If you're sure that they're 18 for over half of the series, and it's verifiable (you may be asked for proof), then it will be valid.

It appears he's a math professor, so that looks fine to me. Just make sure you list the correct Moriarty.

That's correct. Myne would not be valid for this item.

What should one do if there are some items impossible to complete? I checked the database and there is not a single anime aired the same day I joined MAL (Item 28). Also, I haven't dropped any anime in my life, (I don't think casual viewing anime on TV when I was a child can count, and I wouldn't remember anyway :_D), which invalidates Item 100.
Now, every single card except one contains at least one of those items, I would like to complete the maximum level challenge but I would like to have multiple choices, not being forced to pick that single card. is there a solution for it? It wouldn't be that fair to be penalized so much by things that are not under our control and are the result of casualty :(

Here's a list of valid anime for that 'same day' item for you: https://github.com/NinjaNed/Search-Mal-By-Categories/blob/master/Anime%20By%20Day/22.txt

Unfortunately, we don't have a workaround right now for the on-hold/dropped item. However, now that the issue is only with that item alone, you should have plenty to choose from.

I'm probably not going to do this challenge as I had trouble finishing last year's one, and this seems really confusing, but I wanted to ask if it's okay to still update my post on last year's AWC?? Just wondering, thanks.

The item requires you to state the character's nationality. I'm pretty sure the characters' nationalities are never indicated, so this would not be usable.

Ahh, I totally misunderstood, I thought it had to be same day, month, and year, in other words the same date :'D If it's just the day it's easy. Also, I just remembered last year I watched only the first episode of an anime, and didn't even added on the list. I can consider that on-hold, but it was after July the 1st. At least 1 item is saved. Thanks for the clarification :)

I am trying to go for the Neat Freak title and am doing it for Bingo Legend. For me to watch the anime in order, does that mean:

Order 1: (01) (02) (3) and etc

or

Order 2: Just follow the first row of the card?

Hopefully, that makes sense. I am using card #11.

Ty!
Have you checked this post and the Extra Titles: "Master of..." section ?

Neat Freak: All challenge items are completed in numerical order according to which card was chosen.
γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€• This means that you must finish the earlier item before you start watching the next one.
γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€ β—‹ For example, (01) watched Jan 03 - Jan 06, (02) watched Jan 08 - Jan 11.
γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€• 01 is to be completed first (if it is on your card and you are doing that one), then 02, 03, etc.
γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€• You can skip items you won't do, as long as those used are still completed in listed order: for example (01), (02), (05), (08), etc.
γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€• The middle square items are an exception and may be started at any point during the year, but they must be done in their own
γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€ numerical order.
γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€γ€€ β—‹ For example, if you do Etude's entire card the middle squares must be watched as (43), (48), (86), (122).

(80) Watch an anime that has a main character’s name in the main title
— must be the main title used on MAL (alternative titles don't count); the anime title must contain part or all of the main character's name (or nickname/alternate name) as it appears at the top of their Character page

Would Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? be good for it? I'm confused on the "part or all of the main character's name" in this case, since I assume the title refers to "spider" and not "Kumoko" but I may be overthinking it.

Also, (110) Watch an anime with more main characters than supporting characters.

Could I use Wonder Egg Priority? It looks like it has 0 supporting characters, so I'm not sure if it's allowed

The "part or all of the main character's name" refers to a case when character has both first and last name (or more than one name) and only one of it is in the title. In your case it doesn't work because the character is named Kumoko and that word does not appear in the tittle. Sorry.

I would advise use to use something else as the anime is still airing and it's likely more characters will be added later.

For number 30, "Watch a directly related anime that aired at least 10 years before/after a previously completed anime from the same series". Does this mean I had to have watched the anime prior to 2011?

No; for this item, you need to find an anime that is directly related (sequel, alt version, spinoff, etc) to an anime you've already seen, that aired 10 years or more before or after that original anime.

For example: you've watched Code Geass Season 1. The first Code Geass recap movie is listed under "Related Anime", and it aired 10 years after Code Geass, so you could watch it for this item.

Another example, if you didn't want to do Code Geass: you could watch Ghost in the Shell, and then watch Ghost in the Shell 2.0. They're directly related, and 2.0 aired 13 years after the original, so it would be valid.

That example is a little weird, because it's just a remaster with some altered scenes, but you get the idea of what would be valid.

No, I'm pretty sure that you have to use a different anime for each item. You can't use Devilman: Crybaby for both item 2 and item 16.

Hello! Not really sure about this one (tho I think it'll be invalid)...

For (121) Watch an anime that has a higher score than a listed adaptation (under Related Anime) can this be ok:
https://myanimelist.net/anime/37426/Sarazanmai
adaptation score is N/A

Also, I would need help with:
(56) Watch an anime with 2 or more episodes and an episode duration of 30 minutes or more
(48) Watch an anime with an episode duration of 6 minutes or more and less than 500 completed members that finished airing before you started it
(117) Watch an anime that finished airing before you started it and has no Opening Theme (OP) or Ending Theme (ED) listed

(Im gathering ideas... i miiiiiight start the challenge lol)

Can someone help me out with these items and recommend an anime?

(108) Watch an anime that only has one main character listed on MAL -- preferably male. I have some candidates for this item but both of them feature a female lead, and I really would rather have a male lead.

(122) Watch an anime that has two or more adaptations listed under Related Anime -- this is surprisingly difficult to find! I have 2 candidates from my PTW but would like to get everyone's recommendations.

Thanks a lot in advance to anyone who can recommend me a good one! <3

Completed anime list for your reference, please don't recommend anything I've completed already, obviously X'D

Furthermore @ any mod

I have asked this before in previous challenges I've participated in and the answer was the same, but I still would like to make sure for this year: is it alright to use an on-hold anime BUT starting it from the very beginning again? Because I have some on-hold anime from like 2013 and earlier and obviously I don't remember those anyway, so I'd like to start from scratch and watch them from the very beginning and possibly use them for the challenge. This was previously allowed, but I'd like to confirm if that's the same case for this year.

This is not allowed by the rules but there is no way for us to check if you did that or not. Unless you do something really strange we won't ask for an episode history.

Hello everyone, I am pretty confused by this years challenge and I have to ask some, probably stupid, questions. xD

So as far as I understood there is no particular order to watch needed anime? If so, then are the rows only for basically completing stages of the challenge?

Also if I want to go for the neat freak then I need to basically watch all the anime in order in which they are listed?

I would really much appreciate any help, as I am confused and I really want to do the challenge right.

That's correct. You can complete the items in whatever order you want. Basically, you need to complete a certain number of rows/columns/diagonals to achieve each level of the challenge. If you're going for the highest level, then the rows don't even matter, because you'll be completing all 64 items anyway.

Also if I want to go for the neat freak then I need to basically watch all the anime in order in which they are listed?

Yes; for Neat Freak, you need to complete your items in numerical order.

I see thank you very much for the explanation :)

I am sorry to bother you but I have one more question as I am choosing a card right now I see that changes can be made depending on the level. My question is however can changes be made for only the four numbers which are squared on each card or? Because for example I see one problematic requirement on a few cards which I would otherwise choose and that is (28) Watch an anime that began airing the same day you joined MAL and I believe this will be impossible for me as there was only one anime as far as I remember and I watched it for the previous challenges xD

Once again I am sorry to bother you and thank you very much for helping :)

Nope, it's pretty much a random assortment. Many of the items on each card were chosen to be there by the inspector it's named after, but none of the cards have a specific theme.

I mean, some people chose a card at random because that's what is fun for them, but most people choose a card based on the items that are on the card. It's not a secret or anything, each card has its items listed right below it.

There's a full list of all 122 challenge items in the third post on the signup thread; what some people do is look over that full list, see which items you'd like to use/avoid, and then see which cards have/don't have those items. For example, there's an item which requires you to watch an anime with 75 or more episodes. If you really don't want to watch something that long, then you can check and see which cards don't have that item.

In terms of difficulty, we didn't make any of the cards intentionally more difficult than any others. But whatever card you pick, there are 5 difficulty levels you can choose from. The lowest difficulty only requires you to watch 15 or 16 anime, and the highest requires a full card of 64. It's only as difficult as you want it to be, really.

Thanks for answering! i ended up not using anything from my on-hold list anyway. :D I pretty much have all the anime I'd like to watch lined up; I don't plan on changing them.

(100) Finish an anime you put on-hold or dropped on or before July 1, 2020 that has two or more episodes and an episode duration of 16 minutes or more

what if I don't have any of these?

Oh, the ones I was originally planning to recommend for (48) are no longer valid (all now have more than 500 completed members O_o). So your best option would be to go trough most popular list starting here and pick something from there.

For (117):
3x3 Eyes
Ane Log: Moyako Neesan no Tomaranai Monologue
Birth
Iblard Jikan
Je T'aime

I'm probably not going to do this challenge as I had trouble finishing last year's one, and this seems really confusing, but I wanted to ask if it's okay to still update my post on last year's AWC?? Just wondering, thanks.

If it helps, this is a basic summary of the challenge:

- Choose one of the 11 bingo cards that interests you the most.
- Decide if you want to do a full card (64 items) or less than that.
- If you want to do less than the full card, you have to make lines like this according to the level you want to get to.

For example:
- If you want to do Bingo Rookie, you only need 2 lines.
- If you chose my card, you could do lines that allow you to watch items 90, 17, 66, 69, 91, 73, 64, 83 (row across the top) and 90, 52, 87, 116, 70, 2, 89, 67 (first column on the left)
- Note you only have to watch one anime for item 90 even though it's in both lines.
- You can watch the lines you chose in any order that you want and watch however many anime you want at a time.

As for your 2020 post, if you want to update it now I don't see that being an issue.

Each theme has a list associated with it - if you hover your mouse over the theme name in your post you should see a hyperlink that will take you to a list of anime you can use for it.

(102) Watch a TV type anime with an irregular release schedule (where at least one episode was released less than 7 days after its previous episode or more than 7 days after its previous episode)
Is Haruhi Suzumiya season 1 valid for this item?Since everyone are saying it had irregular broadcast schedule
https://myanimelist.net/anime/849/Suzumiya_Haruhi_no_Yuuutsu/episode
But the schedule dates are in order so can anyone help me?

It had an irregular broadcast order : the episodes were broadcast in non-chronological order, but adhered firmly to a regular schedule.

(On the other hand, you can use the second season, which actually got broadcast in the middle of a rerun of the first season, and thus had a one-month gap between its first and second episodes.)

No.You should use different anime. You cannot use the same show for multiple items.

hey everyone, i put Zoku Owarimonogatari for item (25) Watch an anime featuring a Voice Actor who is also credited with a Theme/Insert Song Performance in the anime

but wanted to make sure it was a valid entry :) as the VA is credited for the OP as "by Koyomi Araragi (Hiroshi Kamiya)"

thanks!

It's valid since it is not specified that it should be Opening or ending.
I used Bunny girl senpai because the main girl performs the ed theme in the anime

Yes, that's a valid option too.
