Why are you people bashing PP2 so hard? I mean sure the ending was underwhelming, and Kamui's entire plan fell short in the finale, but Akane was more than a decent protagonist, and it was an interesting ride. C'mon y'all gotta admit the barricade scene, where everyone was running and exploding from dominator shots was pretty intense.

what do you mean his plan fell short his whole pan was to get sybil to recognize collective minds . ya he died but i wouldnt say it fell short.

For everyone who hated this season and are expecting the movie to be good, what makes you think it will be? Urobutcher didn't pen this season but he must have greenlighted it for it to serve as a set up for the movie. I wouldn't be as optimistic.

But the ending was essentially a reset button. I'm willing to bet that the movie will make no reference to this season at all and that was just "filler" until we get to the movie.

WOW THIS ANIME WAS SOOO DEEEEP. LIKE KAMUI BEING MADE UP OF ALL THOSE ENTITIES AND HIS PSYCHO PASS BEING TRANSPARENT AND ALL THAT COOL PSYCHOLOGICAL TALK THEY HAD THAT WAS PRETTY MUCH ABOUT THE SAME THING BUT SAID DIFFERENTLY EVERY EPISODE. AND THAT GUY WHO IS A LOT LIKE KOUGAMI EXCEPT HE IS ACTUALLY THE OPPOSITE OF AKANE BECAUSE HIS PSYCHOPASS IS OVER 9000 ... JUST WOW. I WAS VERY DISSAPOINTED IN THE 1ST SEASON OF THIS SHOW BUT THE SEQUEL IS AMAZING 11/10

Actually it wasn't (and the years are ticking).

- Now it can judge a collective/group which it couldn't in S1.
- This time they didn't deny (or laugh) that they eventually might be judged obsolete as implied by
Akane's statement of joining them in h*ll when they get shut down.
- I guess the latter may strengthen their "trust" in her as it is basically the same as saying she'll sink
or swim with them (maybe it is because she knowingly aids it, so she considers their fate to be her fate).

My theory is that they needed the concept of a collective/group PP in some way, maybe even in the
movie. However, introducing such a concept won't be easily "swallowed" without a reason as to why it
exists when it didn't in S1.

This show is ridiculous, compared to S1
So, the goal of Kamui is to help Sybil evolved or what ?
Mika is still a bitch and goes insane for keeping all in secret

7/10, just because i love PP im not lowering it down to 4/10

deadoptimist said:

The second is that they managed to destroy Akane’s character. Akane in season one was a rare gem of a female MC – she was able, active and she had her own goals, that were more important to her than romance. In this season, despite several good moments, she is turned into a “chosen one”, practically – into a Mary Sue. She seems passive – she doesn’t evolve, she is not a driving force behind the plot anymore – instead she just sits at the center, while males act, claiming to be “inspired” by her, “admire” her or simply find her special. I don’t mean that she isn’t special or that admiration is a bad thing, but I’ve seen stories like that and it’s always the same. Being strong willed becomes not too different from having a nice butt – a mean to attracts partners. It’s not that I look for ways to invoke SJW logic, especially when discussing anime, especially on MAL, but this really reeks of a bad shoujo romance (they even had a duel because of her, and that last Kamui’s glance “look, I am dying for you!”, ugh…). Not to mention that whenever she was in doubt she invoked a ghost of Kamui, cause she of course can’t decide by herself. I wanted to prevent arguments by admitting that she was an important actor in the last scenes, where she tried to not get Kamui, Tougane or Sybil killed before judging them properly, but then I remembered that it didn’t amount to anything, since guys decided to sort it out between men… I could stand it done to almost anyone but Akane. She was free from all this stereotypes, and that made her a very precious, very valuable character. Or more precisely used to make.

Cannot agree more, i don't understand Akane , is she too want Sybil to evolve? isn't her goal to make Sybil being shut down by someone/society in S1? Why she make Sybil goes into perfection? Weird .

Just like the moe witch hunt, is it the new fashionable thing to hate Psycho-Pass 2 without giving any good reasoning beyond subjective complaints? From the plot-twists to the plot-points to the philosophy, it's all just opinionated nit-picking as far as I can tell (or a lack of understanding).

Honestly, if this series gets a 4 or 5 like other people have mentioned, I would really love to know what judging criteria you guys use and how on Earth any other show on MAL can get above a 3.

Please, someone give good, clear reasoning as to why this series deserves a hyperbolic rating like a 1 that's not a one word post.
It makes me laugh. People on MAL have the most standard and plebeian taste in anime and suddenly everyone turns into a super critic while rating generic shounenshit shows over 7.

6/10. Being generous... If it werent for season one, it would get a lower number due to how Kirito Kamui was handled and the rogue inspector.

Togane was probably the only interesting character of the season. Glad he wasn't killed off with a simple dominator shot.

I hope to see more of Kogami in the upcoming movie and make me forget of this 2nd season from existing.

GINOZA: I know the writers joked that if they ever did another Psycho Pass that it might as well be called "Ginoza Pass" (because so many MCs died). I WOULD HAVE LOVED THAT. Tons of Ginoza screen time and character development would have been fantastical! That's right. I said FANTASTICAL. A whole season with Ginoza focus would have been amazing. There is SO MUCH they could have done with his character. Instead we got "Whatevs Ginoza"; a lackluster character who shows up for 5 seconds of screen time here and there to deliver overly obvious lines. NO. NOBUCHIKA IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT. I don't even feel like he was a MC in s2.

I feel your pain. His drama was what saved the hyperoaths arc of the season 1 for me. I hoped to see him becoming more badass, but nope, no screent time from the new team.

deathbyglitter said:
Sho is amazing. I mean, he eats his rice with pills-as-topping. The scenes he did have were memorable and he should have had more of them. Not to mention the face that he shares the same seiyuu as...

Agreed here as well. He had a big potential, but it wasn't allowed to develop past his hilarious praying gesture. The topic of med addiciton was interesting. They could've also move him to be a Shion's student - that would've made the dynamics betwwen the characters normally left at their base building much more lively.

Just cause the things you wanted to happen didnt, doesnt make it a bad season. Its showing how sybil needs to change, and it slowly is. Just cause it doesnt have kogami or brutal murders, doesnt make it bad. It just means you're sick and love murder too much. The plot isnt murder, the plot is that the society is flawed, and the main character is working to fix it

-Akie said:
I'm also REALLY confused about what they meant by a "Collective Psycho-Pass."

Ok, here is my interpretation:

Something tells me I completely missed the mark. Tell me if I'm wrong or if there's anything missing here please ^^

Nope, you did a pretty decent job at summing up the conclusion, though you missed one important point:

- "Collective Psycho-Pass" means that if a group (like the Revolutionary Group we´ve seen in season 1) starts up something and it comes to a showdown between Sybil´s forces and them, especially in a crowded area, they will judge everyone near them, as a "Collective Psycho-Pass".
Do you know what this means? Just like in the case of when that old guy took over the medical facility and the inspectors and enforcers jus massacred everyone - they´d be judged based on the "Collective Psycho-Pass" - meaning that even if there are some in between of them that actually aren´t target for any kind of enforcement, due to them being just as a whole, they´ll end up as collateral damage.

Which is an interesting idea. Because now the Sybil System has evolved...but will it lead them into a new future or will it be the starting point of their downfall, as this opens up a lot of possibly erroneous judgements. With the Sybil System already having a lot of flaws it is aware off, but managed to "hide it from the public eye", I wonder how the public will react to "Collective Psycho-Pass"-group executions.

Overall a lot of people just compare it too much with season 1, especailly those who just give it a bad rating because Kogami wasn´t in it. Also a lot of people misunderstand the world and system of Psycho Pass or just don´t bother to try and understand it and just pass it off as bad writing.
It´s a sci-fi flick - have you watched other Sci-Fi series, have you read other Sci-Fi books? Even one of the most praised and recommended books, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, is full of flaws and confuses most of the people who read it. But it still is an interesting and entertaining book, full of creative ideas for a, at this point, futuristic setting that might turn into a reality (or at least parts of it) and show us problems that arise in a futuristic society such as the one presented to us in that book.
Psycho Pass isn´t any different in that regard.

Overall the series is a solid 7/10 - it had it´s flaws and it´s nowhere near a good, very good or perfect rating, but it´s not "shit" or "garbage" as some, let´s say, less educated individuals, throw around on this board, letting their emotions and prejudices cloud their hopefully otherwise intellectual minds. Though everyone is allowed to have his own opinion, that own opinion should form not through moods swings or fleeting emotions, especially when it comes to judging something or someone.

That´s why the Sybil System exists in the world of Psycho Pass. Because are unable to be reasonable and objective at any point in time.

Psycho-Pass season 1 and 2 is the perfect example on why the story is the most important. Story is king. The animation, music and effects are created revolving around the story but never the other way around.

That is by no mean Psycho-Pass season 2 is a fail show but definitely no masterpiece when compared to season one.

Funny how people say that the 2nd season is not a filler because the Sybil system can judge collective psycho-passes now. How is that relevant if no one with such psycho-pass will ever appear again? Or do you seriously expect someone like Kamui to be in the movie? And for those who come to the episode 11 thread and start asking why do people hate PP2 so much - people are discussing it since the series started so go and read the previous threads, don't expect we will write them exclusively for you again. People wrote their asses off in order to discuss in the previous threads, no one gave a fuck, ignored them, and now suddenly everyone is interested in their reasons.

From my understanding, through as of yet unknown means, they'll start grouping people together and measure the group's collective psycho pass. Which sounds insanely stupid if you ask me. If one person's hue is high, everyone in the group goes 'poof.'

The final showdown between Kamui and Sybil was not as epic as I imagined it would be. The conclusions are slightly 'meh' as well. A bit off let down.
Episode 1-10 kinda made it up though, so it still get 8/10 from me, although I'm very very close to give it 7/10.

Terrible

episode 1/10
series 4/10

Massive massive hate. Akane out of character, boats are the best escape vehicles, CC number is whateaver the writer feels like making it at that time, Kamui can't be judged because he has 7 brains and 100+ ppls bodies making up his, surgery and drugs can totally change your psycho pass like magic but if your face is cut it goes up again cause yeah sure, Sybil can't remove eyepatch girl's inspector rights but can for Akane, retarded plot.

There were some silly things here and there in season 1 but it was believable to me. This wasn't.
