| After just watching the first episode, I gotta say I'm really liking; - The main character, he looks cool and has a decent VA - The opening, pretty good song - Soundtracks, it fit the first episode at least And the entire atmosphere is a bit darker than both Duel Monsters prequels, which I like. The riding while dueling is a bit weird, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. |

| Alright, it's time to start the new yugioh series! I've heard great things about 5Ds, so I'm pretty hyped. Really like the OP we get, both in terms of music and animation. The ED is average. The episode's animation was really good, especially the shot of Jack pointing his finger in the air when he won his duel. I'm really liking Yusei from what we've seen of him. He seems to care for his friends and is really "cool" for a lack of a better term (the bike, the hair, the eyes, the jacket, the personality, the list goes on). Jack seems kind of like an asshole, but I'm sure he'll warm up to us in the future. The dueling style is a very big change from the previous 2 series. Even with the explanation, I'm still unclear about how the whole speed thing works and how speed spells work, but I'll figure it out as the series goes along. Dueling on motorbikes actually has a nice atmosphere with the duelists and the monsters constantly in motion. I can see myself enjoying this. I also like the hand-card holder and display screens. I'm familiar with synchro-summons since it's been around for years now, but I remember hearing it be quite a shock when it was first introduced. I hope to see great adventures from Yusei and his friends! |
| Not sure if I dig the bike element or eliminating all old magic cards, but I like the tone of the show so far. I'm sure we'll get into the mystical/supernatural elements later, but for now I'll enjoy the revenge story. |

Mine too, Zexal stole my favorite show's screentime way too much, made me completly drop 5d's cuz of how stupid ygo has become, to me: 5D's is a 10/10 for everything it's contrubited |

| Finally, a decent strong opening to Yu-Gi-Oh means later series a great. Better than GX and Zexal and much well done and loving those designs. |

| I absolutely LOVED it. It was so much better than the first ep of GX. The animation, the music, the duel, the motorcycles, everything was great~ OMG JACK ATLAS IS 10 TIMES BETTER THAN ANY OF THOSE GX LOSERS IN THE PREVIOUS SEASON OMG SYNCHRO SHOKAN IS LIT OMG CARD GAMES ON MOTERCYCLES!!!!!!!!!! |

| Cards on wheels? CARDS ON WHEELS? I mean I knew but I didn't know-know! 5Ds is Mario Kart and Yusei is about to blue shell everyone off the road. First impressions: Jack Atlas - his name means... it bears a "heavy burden," but it could also be "human compass?" The above poster said he’s got a british accent in the dub so that’s cool, the name Jack apparently comes from the UK. THE ART. Within the first 10 minutes we've been given so many context clues about the world! The types of people outside, the kids still playing on duel disks aka regular dueling still exists. We're witnessing how it's evolved into an intense sport. The music is my kinda vibe and fits the landscape perfectly. So much movement and colors, this looks and feels way more ambitious than GX lol. The kid’s name is Rally Dawson. Wait. Jack Atlas + Rally Dawson = Titanic. Will this mean anything? Pure coincidence? This is yugioh though, so there's definitely something going on there. I'd be surprised if there wasn't. Yusei is a mechanic. No wait, engineer. And a man of few words. What he says is romantic/poetic oh my I love him already. The slums vs the rich and clean high society. Our theme this time around is capitalism? Just going off how offended Yusei was when his deck was called trash and in the context of that broken side of Domino City, the value of human life reflected through cards will be our focus. If all that is in the direction we're heading, I'm super stoked and buckled in for this ride. removed-user said: Also I just now noticed but the cop, Ushio, is the same guy from YGO s0 and the manga's first episode/ chapter. The animation was so much better than GX's, and a lot of stuff got packed into this episode to make it a great start to the series. But I didn't like Yusei's friends since all of them look awful especially Rally. Also the CGI wasn't that great and clashed with the 2D animation in most scenes. I did like how Ushio from the original series appeared as a security guard even if him making that agreement with Yusei was stupid of him since he could've just arrested him. |

| I don't have the strength of heart to do anything else, so I guess I'll start working my way through 5Ds again. Dystopian card games on motorcycles. If nothing else, 5Ds is the last era where I was playing the physical card game. Synchro Summoning is alright, but, for whatever reason, I just never really cared for this series. I also never particularly cared for the Junk archetypes. I'm ready to see some dragons. Anyway, my favorite part was: Trudge: "You have a tuner monster? That can't be!" Yusei: "And yet somehow it is." I could write dialogue for a Yu-Gi-Oh! show. |
