| Oh heres my chance to say my unpopular opinion that may make enemies amongst certain people. Tomino has a ton of issues as a director and a writer, and while he can come up with some phenomenal ideas, he doesnt always execute many of them properly. Hes extremely inconsistent with all his stories especially in the character department, and many of his attempts to criticize other works and mediums are hypocritical to a ton of the flaws he himself suffers from. Add this in addition to moments such as him trying to run the franchise into the ground with victory gundam and my opinion of him just weakens, I can respect and even enjoy many of his works but I refuse to consider a man as inconsistent and mean spirited as this as some godfather of the industry regardless of how influential his works such as ideon and even zeta(which i hold in high regard despite many of its shortcomings) are. Do I think hes bad? with works like CCA and garzey's wing hell yeah he is, but he does do some good and at times great works. But hes simply plagued by so many issues that I cannot forgive. |
