It's been ages since I've played one of my favorite games from the PS1 era. I really loved playing this game, and looks like I still love it and kick ass in it! I just love Bust a Move 2 (the rhythm game, not gay dino game). I remember playing it once as a kid, and somehow I managed to get Fever Time on each stage and unlocked the bonus stage after the boss. Oh boy, it was so disturbing. The secret character, the music, the stage... My young self wasn't ready for this. Nor was I ready for the difficulty in this level (really fast song). |

| So I finally got a new PS3 and started playing games again, downloading free stuff because of PS Plus, that kind of thing. Started over with a new save in Dark Souls. Fuck this game. I swear. And no, not because it's SUPER SUPER HARD OMG GUIZE (actually, Dark Souls is not even close to being as hard as the Internet claims it is), but the game just makes you feel like a fucking dirtbag the entire time. #1: Chaos Witch Quelaag. I was thinking, oh, okay, she's after me. Might as well get this fight done over with quick. Freakin' monster. I get her on my first try. I rejoice with a "FUUUCK YEAHHHHHH" 'Murrica style. I approach this hidden wall downstairs after ringing the bell and find this poor guy with a sack on his back...and he's just talking to me. Said something about a Fair Lady. I was like, "huh, okay." So I keep going, and right by the bonfire, is this poor...woman...spider...thing...with her hands clutched together as if she was praying. At first I was like ANOTHER ONE, but Haakonwale stops me to the point that it shocks me that she wasn't an enemy. And then he explains the Fair Lady's and Quelaag's backstory. Basically, Fair Lady (the woman spider thing praying, btw) and Quelaag are sisters. Long story short, Fair Lady did something and now she's in a dying state, and would need humanity to save her life. ... ...so if I understand this correctly, Quelaag wasn't evil; she was just providing for her dying sister. ... ...She could've just fucking asked!? I mean, I had a ton of them saved up, but if she just calmed down and talked to me, I WOULD'VE FUCKING GIVEN IT TO HER FOR FREE. WELL, WHAT THE FUCK. I KILLED HER FOR NOTHING!? Gah. I could've hit it off with her. BOTH OF THEM. But now I've made Fair Lady completely and utterly alone. You know what's worse? YOU KNOW WHAT'S FUCKING WORSE!? She's fucking blind, deaf, and can't support herself, AND she things I'M Quelaag. Because of my extreme guilt, I gave her my humanity, but nothing can take back the deed I've just done. Could've had DIALOGUE OPTIONS, but noooooooo, From Software! Another one: Great Wolf Sif: So I make it to Darkroot Garden and open up this door that leads to these plebe human NPCs that start attacking me, probably thinking they're all badass that they think they can take me on. Fuckin' plebes. I cross the bridge and end up before a huge door that's just tempting me to go inside. So I'm like "oh yeah, whoever's the little bitch beyond this door must be the boss, and I'm gonna put my foot sooooo far up their ass, they're gonna need a new one!!" I approach the graveyard surrounded by swords and a giant greatsword right next to the tombstone. I was so fired up to, and now the tone shifted to a more somber one. I was like "holy crap, this is a huge sword, I'm not gonna be able to use it, but it'll sell me well in the black market or something. Hell, all this soul collecting is just exhausting, I need a break once in a while, right? So I touch it, and this HUGE FUCKING WOLF is not standing on top of the tombstone and ready to pounce. I exclaimed "HOLY SHIT THAT'S A HUGE FUCKING WOLF" and I take a step back. Now at this point, I'm thinking "Oh my God, whoever died here must be buddies with this wolf." Instantly, I felt bad in taking this mission on for killing a monster and getting treasure, but this wolf wasn't having it. He just grabs the giant greatsword and clenched its sharp teeth to it like it didn't want to let it go. At first I was like "Awww cute wittle puppy want to pway wifh sword, C'MERE BOY COME ON!" But no. this wolf meant business. And with a heavy heart, I drew my sword and shield, and engaged in battle. It was intense, but I got him. He tried to retaliate, but I got him. And as he was down to 7/8 of his life bar, what happened next...broke my heart. He started limping. He limped. HE LIMPED. HE FUCKING LIMPED. But he still held on that greatsword and it wasn't gonna go down without a fight. At some point after limping so much, he just...gave up and laid down, waiting for death. I was thinking, "No, no, I'm done dude. Go tend to his graveyard like normal and forget I was even here! I'm sorry! I'M SORRY! I'M SO FUCKING SORRY!" But no, he laid there as if he wanted me to finish him off. After wiping my tears, I realized this wolf just wants to join his partner/master in heaven (if there IS a heaven in Dark Souls; I ONLY SEE HELL OVER HERE MANG). So...I put him out of his misery. I...made sure to do it quickly. And you know what was my reward in the end? His soul. HIS FUCKING SOUL. I couldn't sleep right for a week after that. So yeah, Dark Souls is a game that flips you off every chance it gets. And when there are times you do prove yourself to it, the consequences of your deeds are intended to make you feel worse than you already are. I never thought humanity would come up with such an asshole game, but holy shit, someone did. Fuck you, Dark Souls, and fuck you, From Software. I'm buying Dark Souls II. |

| Fudge you guise, I kinda need help deciding on something. So, I am currently in possession of about 600 bucks. I spent half of it on textbooks and other shit, so I decided to spend the remaining half for myself. I thought I'd get myself a new console, and I can't decide between getting a 3ds or a refurbished PS3. So, which one should I get? I'm incapable of deciding by myself. I should point out that I already have a XBAWK 360. I am sort of considering a Wii U as an option. |

| I would like to tell you the tale of my friend Vincent. Vincent was living his peaceful life through Dark Souls. Being a huge fan, he played at it everytime he was gaming, so he quickly became powerful. Dark Souls community having some kind of convention about which is the 'max level' for PVP, Vincent got himself more than 6 million souls. Until one day, while he was playing, he died. Like anybody, expert or not, do on Dark Souls. Vincent was confident in his skills, but he was still scared, as this game is the trickiest. Then, almost at the verge of dying, Vincent finally find his soul. He is at two steps from then, nor more, nor less. But, what Vincent didn't see was his stalker. A little being that, from the start, followed him, steadily and slowly, but remained hidden. Because those little beings, those squeletons, are weaklings, Vincent just killed them quickly before moving on and that is why he didn't see the one. The one. Who got in his back. And killed him. Before he pressed X. Next to his souls. Vincent pulled out the CD from his Xbox360. He waited for his console to slowly, in the most trolling way, get the CD out of its mouth. And then he just threw the CD on the other side of the living room. |

| Lol well that's what the souls games are about. You have the risk of not just Tower Knights and whatnot, even real players can be dicks and invade your world for no good reason other than just to make your time with the Souls games miserable. It's happened in Demon's one time and at least 10 in Dark Souls. I turn human, immediately I get invaded by someone. Just wrecks me. And he probably knows I'm a beginner, but he doesn't care. I'm expecting it, but by the time I'm done with both, I'll be doing the same thing anyway. xD I would tell you to tell your friend Vincent to watch out because eventually I'll be coming for him, but he's playing on the 360. |

| So I've been playing Dark Souls 2 this weekend and I've got to say it's really hard and extremely satisfying to finally kill that boss that has given you trouble for the last couple of hours. It didn't help that I accidentally skipped ahead a fair amount and got to the "fourth" area right after the first, so I was severely underleveled and underequipped. (having 50% health of base vigor and being too stingy to use human effigies didn't help my case either) I beat the area, though, after some grueling hours of struggle, and I can finally say that I've gotten kinda sorta good. At least I don't fat roll like a scrub anymore and feel confident enough in my dodging to focus on fashion and light weight instead of tanking hits. I have to say, though, that Dark Souls 2 suffers from the same issue that Dark Souls and Demon's Souls does, that end-game bosses are too easy since your fundamentals are good and you don't get hit much unless you mess up your stamina management. The naga queen boss was without a doubt the hardest boss in the game so far. The poison floor and the slow walk was such a pain in the ass. I'm surprised I actually managed to beat it. There has to be something that can be done about that poison, but I couldn't find a way to do so. Even stacking poison resist didn't help much, it just prolonged the inevitable slow death by poison. Poison is really deadly in this game, btw. Sorta like Toxic from Dark Souls. I've just gotten to Drangleic Castle so I still have some areas yet that I haven't done, I guess. Still haven't seen that Dragon Academy thing that was featured in the early trailers and gameplay reveals, so I am hype for that. /end of rant I'll give my final thoughts when I beat the game in the coming days. I have to take a break from the game for a short while since my eyes hurt. Haha. |

| Dark Souls 2 so far is very enticing but a bit of a diamond in the rough for me. I slightly disagree with the final boss difficulty for Dark Souls 1, but yeah, Nashandra her I do like how they gave more fluid and consistent animations to a vast majority of the weapons after DarkS1 butchered some, and the new roll feels fluid but still a tad sloggish compared to DemS. Poise is bogus at the moment, it's ridiculous how easy it is to stunlock players and most enemies, while a few enemies will just take your hits and go through them, it's near non-existent for players. Agility is still a muddled stat, and From was too damn vague about how it works, I didn't notice any movement changes hardly, and initially I was blowing all my souls into it thinking my rolls would be less delayed and quicker somewhat, but thank god for the restat - it's a double-edged sword, but it works in my favour so I can't complain. The arena system (which I haven't really gone into yet) is exclusive to Blue Sentinels, and the matchmaking is apparently awful, getting people 100+ soul levels higher than another matched up, is rather irksome, I wish they just had an exclusive fight arena map already that wasn't so convoluted; maybe like a Coliseum where you register for fights with other people around your soul level and progress. Plus the lack of full eye orbs for the Sentinels and Blood covenants is awful seeing how they also happen to have the largest rank requirements, which improves longevity, but is ridiculous when the resources have to be scavenged for so much. Effigies are far too scarce, but they overcompensate by having an insta-revive station near end game which is far too convenient having no cost at all really but for those in the Dark Covenant, grabbing effigies is a challenge. The strange stat requirement balancing really hinders Dex builds I'd argue, and the inclusion of spices makes bare minimum, mid-to-high-level sorcery viable which is kind of crazy, but at least they limited it to a max of 10 levels for lowering. I like how it doesn't plunge you into NG+ after you beat the final boss, but the ending is kind of streamlined I feel which is rather unfortunate. It's a lot like Dark Souls 1's but more open ended yet stripped down and a tad more overt, so it's nothing new, but not really bad in any way. There were various other problems I had with the game that bothered me along the way in passing, so I've forgotten a lot of it, but hopefully From will patch a lot of things to shape this game to peak condition. At the end of the day, surprisingly enough, it's still a 9/10 for me with how rich the environments look, the improved weapons, the typical Souls scope, etc, but it can be even better if they sort out some things. Step up to the plate FS. |

mugi said: Yeah, only this time it actually works. Extremely reliable invading and coop in almost every area of the game. But poise being broken atm really hurts PvP. It's like DeS without the toggle escape glitch. It ruins PvP. If you plan to PvP, just pick the fastest weapon you have and R1 to win. Big, strong, "poise breaking" strength weapons are useless and will only get you roll BS'd. Adaptability is the only thing that will save you. The difference between 10 adaptability and 38 is like the difference in i-frames between a middle roll and a ninja flip in Dark Souls. So good. Not sure how Angel didn't notice it. Since you can guard break even the biggest shields in a single pimp slap, having low agility and being unable to roll through stuff will get you killed 100% of the time. That is of course talking about PvP. Not many PvE enemies will try to guard break you, so have fun behind the shield. So, the multi-player works the same as in the previous game? |

mugi said: So, the multi-player works the same as in the previous game? Basic co-op yes, invasions can only be done by cracked orbs (expendable) so there's no infinite use invasion item, and then covenants all have their different functions and nuances. @Haak: Yeah there are technically more invincibility frames, but a lot of the time I try to be very concise with coordinating my rolls RIGHT at the sweet spot. It's probably a subjective thing, but I did the restat when I was fighting Vendrick Oh god, I'm such an ass, I invaded as a Bell Guardian, fought some host, a BP comes in, I backstab him, go back to killing the host, succeed, then finish off the BP right before it finishes. ChrisTucker said: Not gonna happen in PvP. Even though the latency is pretty decent when you disable worldwide connectivity, you need that extra leeway to compensate for that lag. Even for PvE, it's just an extra stress factor, knowing you have to time every single thing you do perfectly or you will get hit hard (critical damage getting hit during an animation) Especially against Yeah there are technically more invincibility frames, but a lot of the time I try to be very concise with coordinating my rolls RIGHT at the sweet spot. It's probably a subjective thing, but I did the restat when I was fighting Vendrick. Vendrick I didn't know that I could fight that dragon and get the last Giant Soul to weaken Vendrick PS: Fuck WoG in this game. So stronk. ugh |
