Thresholding my overabundant thoughts about this near perfectly executed episode for a day to collect my thoughts for what you're reading now!!
Look, my opinion on Azunyan is harsh to say the least, where I can directly see that this is the start of original 4-koma manga creator "Kaikfly" downward slope on uncreative recycled characters rampage that is also physically apparent in "K-ON! College" and "K-ON! High School" with saving grace of KyoAni's incredible support to make her stand out on her own, especially these episodes that actually made me appreciate her a lot.
Start to finish this episode was excellent!! Yui and her cute obsession over stickers striking a resemblance back to when we were kids where our thoughts accepted everything physically flashy thinking stickers were the coolest thing on the planet and planted them everywhere farming an entire house of stickers on our expensive composition notebook that were supposed to be taken seriously, at least that was my experience with stickers when my I was obsessed with them in the same manner of Yui this episode?
Now, after these stickers made a gag revolving our main character of this episode Azunyan being caught by the barging brute Jun witnessing her in an awkward position when peeling a sticker off of Yui's hair, right ahead of the un-skippable opening, this scene leads to, yet another Jazz Club head over heels Jun moment, getting ahead of herself when she compares our beloved Light Music Club to her Jazz Club:
every time I see her babbling about it, I would always go "bitch, Light Music Club levels ahead of your lame Jazz Club that'll soon forget your existence after you graduate" but this does further enhance Azunyan's frustration, kicking off the main plot point of this episode!!
Mugi partially stealing Azunyan's spotlight with her innocent adorableness this episode, and our wholesome reminder that Mugi decided to take on the Keyboard instead of the Piano she is familiar with just so she can play light-music with her friends!
so...how do we tell her?
Azunyan need this episode to realize that she is here because she wanted to play light music with these respective individuals, on the contrary, this is what Mugi already felt immediately when she first met Mio and Ritsu, while another highlight towards the minor contradictions between Azunyan's self-strictness and seriousness against Mugi's endearing and motherly persona, this nervous energy develops between them when they're alone with each other but scattered with opposite thoughts:
Awkward situation between Azunyan and Mio alone trying their best to start a conversation without the extroverted Yui and Ritsu around was cute and funny but also painful to watch from an extrovert's perspective(you can tell from the sheer amount I writing right now), then adorably Satoshi is revealed to be somewhat introverted compared to what we expect from as a brother of the chaotic Ritsu, debatably, this could be why Ritsu knew how to handle nervous situations when she helped Mio.
Ritsu being a master chef is just one of her many additions that makes her wife material, and that scene where the hideous Tainaka Father's pantsu(underwear) was spotted and Yui innocent remark of "they're pink" caught me off-guard I burst out laughing on the spot!!
This episode ended beautifully with the stickers coming in handy when Azunyan lost her precious keychain signifying her believing she lost herself this episode only to be reminded that her friends would still see her as Azunyan eitherway:
I see Azunyan going through this same character arc as Mio back in 1st season episode 3 and also finding an answer to why she wanted to play join everyone so badly back in episode 7 of the 1st season.
This is one of favorite episodes honestly. |
