The concern of the just recovered lady-in-waiting Ailan (of Concubine Gyokuyou) bearing a summons to the Crystal Pavilion to see Nurse Shenlu with the request to make medicine for a servant of Concubine Lihua having what seems like a minor cough, Yinghua sure got the raw end of the deal seeing what Maomao is like with insects and all. And since Maomao could not do the job herself due to the inner palace's rules and all, having to go through the Quack Doctor is the only way to do so, while intimidating the Lihua's head lady-in-waiting Shin once again for something that she has egregiously done wrong. That, and with the treasures from the envoys, the Crystal Pavilion is in a real deal of questioning.

Jinshi interrogating Shin for the banned goods that were meant to be made into abortion medicine, alongside Lihua and Maomao, the latter may be qualified enough to question her in terms of the medicine involved, but it's Lihua herself who knows the resentment of Shin enough to ban her from the inner palace, and that bitch slap though, Shin awfully deserved it.

Still, the possibility that others may have used the abortion drug, it's yet to be seen of the influence in the rear palace.
But for now, crisis averted...and what exactly does the Emperor think of her?

I like that Jinshi is capable of deducing much of Maomao's logic on his own. He is intelligent in his own right, though not quite as analytical as her. It is a small thing, but good writing is constituted by these small things.

Great episode. Shin deserves execution, but I like to think Lihua consigned her cousin to a fate worse than death.

All this happened because the emperor likes... voluptuous women.

Man I’m glad Shin is out of the picture but the mastermind still lurking in the rear palace, also Maomao straightforwardness is a bless.

Another case solved for Maomao, yeah that girl was definitely jealous, fortunately they managed to stop her, she'll never see the emperor again

Yes! Finally, the plot is picking up! This was such an exciting episode in my opinion. I felt so happy when Rifa slapped Shin!
Anyone who reads my anime comments (and I doubt anyone does) would know I love slap scenes! I’m thinking of starting a thread compiling all the slap scenes I liked!

Let’s go to episode 7!

Another satisfying episode where Maomao exposes a fraud.

It's building up to the chase of the mastermind behind the caravan goods. I'd be a bit disappointed if the reveal turned out to be the envoys, so I hope it's not.

When MaoMao snaps, we all know it's going to be an epic episode!

I did not expect that woman to be so evil, but it seems there is someone else pulling the strings, maybe from outside?

Shin has finally gotten what was coming to her. Maomao really got her to crack, and if that wasn't enough, Lady Lihua gave her a good smack across the face.

Banishment from the rear palace is a lenient punishment. Shin should be thankful she wasn't executed.

Bitch getting bitch slapped was so good. Maomao's boob joke was unexpected but was so funny, it just came outta nowhere. Case solved. I guess getting scratched like cat whiskers was intentional. Shin narrowly avoided getting her head chopped off for her sins. Really love the conspiracy through out the series. I suppose Shin was just a pawn in the larger scheme of things by an unknown party.

Maomao identified Shin to be the one using scented oils for inducing abortion. When confronted, they got to know she wanted to abort Lihua's pregnancy and not the other concubines.

Lihua goes soft and slaps her. She removes her from the rear palace so that Shin gets away without further punishment.

I wonder, if the King knows Maomao makes medicine, and it's still not safe to reveal that Maomao can make medicines, how much power does the court have.

I fucking loved that episode! When that servant appeared at the end with the flowers in hand I almost cried. It's really a sin how rich people treat poor people like they're not even people.

Lihua has grown so much since episode one!
