Lawyers will go after everything they can gain profit from. I bet there are dozens already brainstorming how to get the most money by cease warnings - collecting ip-addresses by uploading & linking its clients films on purpose or by buying ip-sets, only the future will tell :D

You could get amazon] (fairly new to anime but 100 things is a good amount to start), crunchyroll (they have a fk ton of series how could you possibly not be interested in them), Viewster (is free), Netflix ((not a lot of titles, but you could find some really obscure ones like robotech (aka macross and other stuff), knights of cydonia, Ajin, etx)), anime on demand (germany), clip fish (free i heard in germany, lots of yugioh and good sht on there it seems), Daisuki (so limited but anime is anime), and Akiba pass...
seriously stop complaining, anyways, if it's licensed you could either find it on legal streaming or outright buy it... if it's unlicensed, they're probably not going to enforce it.

I really hope this response is meant as a joke, or do you care to explain how a legal decision by the EU-court, that enforces EU-rights correlates with one "bad leader" of one EU member state? I am really looking forward to read your profound deliberations!

Do you think I have any clue how the government of Germany or the EU works? Do you think I even care that much?

I was trying to be sentimental and supportive, but god forbid I try to leave a nice concerned comment.

But I know Germany's been having a hard time with Angela Merkel and the migrant crisis, so I assumed she was responsible for this too seeing as the OP blamed Germany for the problem.

But excuse me for being misinformed. Thank God for pretentious pricks on the My Anime List forums to enlighten the rest of us.

So you wrote a comment without any basic knowledge how the EU, states in gerneral or
judicature in said case work, simply assuming everything and dare to call others "pretentious pricks" is quite an amaizing reversal you did there.

In order to reconcile the situation; this dispute might simply be due to cultural and personal differences. Like my others post state, I am somewhat interested in a serious discussion on this topic, but MAL might not be the right place for this. So I honestly mistook your most likely honest concerns simply as another halfhearted (near shitpost)-comment like many others before.

There's a site called vrv. I don't actually know if it's usable in Germany. Anyways the point is, they have a service for $10 you get full access to Chrunchyroll and funimation (legally) and a few other services but they aren't really important as far as anime goes. Chrunchyroll and funimation has probably 80-90% (just guessing) of anime. While it's not all anime that still a massive amount, enough that your "career" wouldn't end. Sure it costs money but $10 a month is like 1.2 hours of work if you had the lowest possible income. Don't really know the whole license ing issue outside the states so it might not work for you but I hope this helped. Good luck!

nothing will happen because the japanese studios don't have the money to fight piracy on a global scale - unlike for example big american movie companies.

just for those who don't know how this works:

the license holder hires a law firm specilized in copyright violation. those guys then use software (even malware) to track down ip's or go directly to the site owner. afterwards a judge has to give permission to get the real names from the provider for each ip. now finally they can send out those cease and desist letters. takes a lot of time, is expensive and therefore it's pretty unlikely that you will ever get into trouble for pirating anime.

the EuGH decision will manly affect illegal movie (!) streaming

If this law is really as strict as it sounds, then I feel bad for you.

Although I'm still going to guess that it's nothing major and in the end it'll change nothing. Like in all countries, banning piracy is stupid, since everyone does it. And no one will ever stop.

I mean, this didn't really do anything. I don't think anyone I know has stopped torrenting for the past decade. I've never heard of them ever getting fined..

Even Google's supercomputer cannot decrypt AES256 / SHA256 VPN cryptographic keys~

Be wary though that some OpenVPN service may sell your info and browsing data if the price is right.

I have a feeling this isn't going to be as big of a deal as some people are making it out to be. The people that get in trouble over this new law are likely going to be pirating those big Hollywood movies, not anime.

Guess we'll see what happens though.

That reminds me of the time my government tried to ban porn. They didn't pass any law or such, but secretly told the ISPs to block them. News got out very quickly and the "ban" or whatever that was, was lifted in a couple of days. Very sucessful that was. Nobody fapped for those 2 days.

Well, every illegal streaming. However I was probably blowing this whole out of proportion, the chance that these anime studios would actually go after me is pretty low.

Oh, man, I feel for ya. Our government has recently banned a lot of anime and manga related content, so far VPN hasn't been made illegal, but I honestly don't know what to do when (and I have a feeling it's when) they'll make it. I can't normally access bato.to or nyaa.se, for example.

Don't know what to say to you if VPNs are already banned in Germany. If you have a lot of free money and passion for anime you can collect subscriptions, I guess, but it's at least two - Crunchyroll and Funimation, and then there can be regional locks. Or maybe they'll find some holes in the law. Or you'll have to break the law all the time while worrying. That's what these laws are - many will continue to break them, but a couple will be made into an example, nobody knows who.
Anime and manga have been outside of this for long, but now it's becoming more and more complicated( It will hardly stop.

It was always a grey-zone, what do you expect.

And with the very limited knowledge I have, this is more important in regards to big movies & series, because those are profitable. At least I have heard of more cases from stuff like this than anime.

But in the end this is a kind of topic where only real knowledge can teel you what's right or wrong.

Ahh yes i also remember that one time when the Japanese goverment actually gave out a list of anime sites they were going to shut down forever(kissanime, 9anime, gogoanime etc etc...) Lmao i mean they even listed TBP there and at that point i knew nothing was going to happen and look and behold every single one of these sites is still up because the Japs simply gave up lol and then announced something else to cover up them not giving a legit shit about these sites like they never did in the first place xD.
