Definitely, the longest i watched is 64 long and i would probably never watch anything longer but i loved Cross Game so much i gotta watch Touch at some point.
But honestly even 26 ones are too much for me these days. It can be the best shit ever i just don't have the dedication to watch 200+ eps.

Mostly, Shugo Chara goes just above 100 and I'm loving it so far, but Pokemon (and most long running ones), can sometimes be forgotten and before you know it, you're 5 episode down and can't be bothered to catch up.

Edit: Just like how a discussion goes over 100 posts, I won't read it all, just the 1st and last pages.

It really depends, but I would say when it all comes together, yes I do avoid them.

For one I get really annoyed, because many of the long-term Anime has a lot of fillers, I know you can just leave them aside but it kinda sucks leaving out half of an Anime because it has actually nothing to do with the plot ^^"

Also, I came to realise that the biggest reason for me to stop watching Anime for a while, mostly was because I watched a long running one and it really sucked out my motivation because I felt like it was going on forever and never came to an close call that was mentioned 20 episodes ago. ^^"

I don't say that they suck, but long term really isn't something for me.
Anime with 25-30 episodes are the limit for me

Depends if it'sa Jojo's Bizarre Adventure type on long running or is it Naruto's long running; I usually love the former and keep away from the latter.

No. Although, I do prefer watching a long running anime if it's a battle shounen, rather than a long running anime of a different genre (like a comedy).

I've seen basically all the mainstream long running shows and I can't imagine how I managed to watch them all. Like now, I'm so used to 12-26 episode anime that my brain loses interest after every 25~ episodes on long running anime.
Atm I'm watching monster, and I marathon like 15episodes a day then 10 more another day and I lose interest for a week, then 25 more... Dunno, I'm weird.

I used to watch long running series until I rage quit after the thousands of fillers Naruto have.

I used to get annoyed at short series because I'd ended up forgetting all of the character's names the next day.

But now, I watch short series cuz I'm lazy.

Not really, though I'm definitely more picky. It has to either be pretty good in general or do at least one thing especially well. Lupin 3 for example has had 250+ episodes, 10+ movies, 25+ specials and a few manga. Despite having seen/read most of it, I'm still not board with the series due to an excellent formula, cast and easily some of the best character interaction/chemistry in anime. Even when a episode, special, etc. is outright bad, it still has this groundwork and formula to work with, it still ends up being enjoyable(at least most of the time).

Yes, I very rarely watch long anime. The longest I've watched (and re-watched) is fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, which isnt even 100 episodes. Most long anime are all filler episodes, and I really really hate filler episodes. I'm still in school so I just dont have the time.
If things like One Piece and Naruto were compressed into anime 100 episodes or less I would totally watch them.

Yes and no, it depends on how much free time I have at the moment and if it's something that I'd really like.

Most of the time I go for something around 12 - 25 episodes, but I'm also watching One Piece and Gintama atm. It helps that I'm already up to date

Of course I do..

Why do you think I haven't watched any long running animes out there like HxH or One Piece or whatever animes out there that has over 100 episodes? It's because I don't have the time. A 12/13 episode anime takes me a week to finish and I'm not even counting the amount of days that I take a break from watching anime which is usually 3-4 days.

It will probably take me 4-5 months just to finish an anime with over 100 episodes so I stick with animes that has 12/13 episodes or 24/25 episodes.

NEETS or no lifers might be able to finish all long running animes in like 2 weeks. I feel sad for these people. They need to get a life.

Yes, the anime can have a very interesting story, but takes a long time to gain some development or some episodes with much talk of no relevance to the story itself this anime q for me could be top one (10 at the start) passes logo for a 7 at best, and something I hate and anime with very episode but half not interested in history.

Hmm if this question was asked 5 years ago I would say No.
Now I would say I'm 75% Yes and 25% No.

Due to the pressures of work and school (I do both at same time) I don't have even the time to watch a 12 / 24 eps.

Altho I gotta say that I am on par in the manga world of these long running series, especially bleach, naruto and onepiece I'm on par with the weekly releases.

One piece I generally give it a 40 epi lead and then watch them all in a marathon and wait another half year to watch it again.

Digimon doesn't count. It's a series of different stories. It's not one long story that never ends.

Never watched a show longer than maybe 40-50, I'd rather watch the average condensed anime like 12-25 episodes long over a couple days or weeks than some monster of an anime like HxH with like 130 I just cant do it because

it already takes me a while to watch a normal show that ill watch half of and put off for like a week, its stupid too have a show go on for that long, there usually not worth it anyways because there so stretched out they get old and boring

I avoid long running anime because the longer the show, the budget is stretched for all episodes. This usually leads to lower quality, long running shows which seems counter-intuitive.

One of the biggest issues with long shows is the filler, which causes not only pacing issues but it wastes time. Long running shonen contain a whole lot of filler with very little progress, it seems a lot of people like it, but that is something I will never understand.

I like a lot of variety, which is why 12 / 24 episodes in a season is great. I like being able to easily finish a show and move onto a completely different show within a timely manner.

I do only if I'm halfway through it. So like If I'm 30 episodes in on a 100 plus on going series I'll keep watching. However if it has filler Like Naruto which is pretty much dead to me right now I won't even bother until I hear from others that filler is done.

Digimon doesn't count. It's a series of different stories. It's not one long story that never ends.

Counts, because it is a meta series. That is like saying that Doraemon doesn't count because it is episodic, or Pokemon neither because each season is a different area and such. Also due to Digimon being right now in movies I didn't counted. Note that the count end with 31 Fairy Tales.

Even if you don't to count Digimon because of the meta aspect, you have that Digimon Adventure 02 is a sequel of the Adventure 1, together they have 104 episodes. You can also start to add Adventure tri, that if we go by Crunchyroll episode division will end up with 24 more episodes.

If I have time (which I don't, due to my job) then I would consider giving them another chance, but as of right now 1-30 episodes a season is good. I don't find the longer running ones that appealing anyways.

depends on the episode count and for how long it is already running.. today i wont start watching something like one piece. too much episodes.. but when its a new series, why not. I am watching one piece now for 13 years.

For finished anime i would say 50-100 is ok. my longest none airing anime was Hitman Reborn and D.grey man.

I enjoyed Inuyasha up to Castle Beyond the Looking Glass and then it was all downhill for me, same with almost all Shonen though...

But Digimon Adventures are recognized as separate shows. Each has its own story that concludes. It's also possible to enjoy all three not in chronological order. It doesn't force you to keep up.

I'll pick any long good anime series anytime. Watching it makes it special for me because I'm giving up my free time just to binge it instead of putting my time on some productive work lol.

One of the reason is if I'm watching a particular series for a long time, it will grow on me and will be part of my life. I don't want to be dramatic here but watching/reading Naruto for 10 years is such a treat for me and I don't regret it. Yes, most of the long running shounen series tend to get a lot of fillers but you'll get used to it. For me I just skipped them all.

I'm not particularly fond of series with 10-14 episodes, why? Because there's a high chance that the anime will be rushed and I don't want that.

My last reason is it's kinda tiring for me to search every 3 months for a new good anime series to watch. I'd rather watch a single anime with 48 episodes a year than to watch four anime with 12 episodes each for a year.

Yes - but mainly because most of them are stuff I would not want to watch in the first place.

I do plan to some day watch Urusei Yatsura.
No idea if I will then watch it all, or if after so-so many episodes I'll have enough.

And should it be enjoyable for me, then I can not understand why I should feel "it takes away my time to watch shorter series" ? Huh? So what, as long as it is enjoyable.
