Why isnt Killua's grandfather doing more? I think I saw his father aswell around the palace many episodes back.

As far as I know he dropped Meruem and Netero off at that war test place and after that no more screentime for them.

Jobs done and thats that?

They would only take the job to help infiltrate the palace and get Netero and Meruem separated from the rest. Nothing more.

Netero already had determination to beat the King, so it would make unnecessary casualties if others were around him.

I know how it ends to an extent and I don't think people will like it. It seems like a cop out ending to satisfy fans. Would have been better if it happened a different way ;) ;) "wink wink"

Please tell me that's sarcasm. :/
How is it to "satisfy fans?"
Like, it was the opposite of that, in a good way I mean. It did what it planned to, rather than pleasing the crowds.

Yeah, I think the fans will like the ending. Not because it's a "cop out" but because it's a beautiful and fitting one (cause it makes sense).

I must say though, I was expecting (matured) Gon to go up against the King, and probably beating the king. I thought that the king would see/remember about Komugi while he was dying and maybe wish he could play one more match. However, the scene were Palm watches Killua carrying Gon, ruined that for me. I guess that it's just Komugi that can save the day now.

Why would Gon fight Meruem? He never cared about him, only Pitou.

Sorry about the extremely late reply (shouldn't MAL like, send you a notification?)... Anyway, given that there is noone else capable of taking down the king and the fact that Pitou mentioned that Gon's nen power had reached the level of the king's when he matured... I had high hopes for a match between them. [Also, in the 100s (as far as I remember), there hasn't really been a good match involving Gon. Even with Pitou, it was just one sided slaughter. So I was guessing that they had a good match in store for us. Oh well.]

in the anime its said that king used en which shone all over the palace but they never said its his limit so even if pitou had larger en i think meruem would have a larger en

I really loved this episode, even if not much took place. In traditional HunterxHunter fashion, last weekâs massive, epic episode was followed up with this slower, quitter one, thatâs great in its own right. The pace was really relaxed, and most of the episode was just the King and the Royal Guards talking, which was fine by me because their dynamic is fascinating. Meruem especially is interesting to watch, because heâs now a subtle mixture of Meruem before he met Komugi and the Meruem after. Heâs harsh, brutal, and has no problem with the thought of eating humans, and yet shows a modicum of mercy towards both the Royal Guards and his enemies.

Two things here stuck out to me. First was that little scene with Knuckle and Meleoron, when they were discussing running away. Knuckleâs utter hopelessness and fear was striking, especially after how fearlessly he fought Youpi. This scene is superb, though, because of the contrast between Knuckle (the human) and Meleoron (the Ant). Earlier in the invasion, Knuckle almost ran away with Shoot, after the latter had been injured, but stopped in order to avenge his friend. At the time, the right, rational thing to do would have been to retreat; for the sake of his duty, which was the defeat of the Ants, thatâs what he should have done. Knuckle, however, for the sake of revenge, stubbornly attacked the enemy once again, out of a very human desire. Now, though, heâs doing what he should do; retreat and call for help. Itâs his duty.

Guess who wants to stay anyways and try to get at the King, out of a desire for vengeance. Meleoron, of course, as the narrator points out. Itâs the classic switch Togashi has been doing throughout the whole arc. Knuckle, the human, is doing an Ant-like thing by prioritizing his duty above all else, while Meleoron, the Ant, is doing the human thing by wishing to stay so he can enact his revenge, which was to get at the King for killing Peggy. Itâs subtle and clever.

Another equally subtle and brilliant moment was when the King gave his own proposal to Pouf: if they win, he grants them each a wish; if he wins, they tell him what theyâre hiding from him. Basically, he will grant them their desires if they emerge victorious; if they lose, though, they confront their worst fears, telling the King about Komugi. Itâs a psychological tactic, one very familiarâ¦.

I quote Meruem from episode 105:
"Fear and desire hold the power to disrupt one's rhythm. Desire clouds one's vision, while fear stills one's step."

Itâs the same thing he did with Komugi! It harkens back to his board games with Komugi, his âcontestsâ with her. And isnât this a contest where the memory of Komugi is at stake? More so, it shows that the King has retained much of what he learned during the board games against Komugi, subconsciously. Itâs affecting his behavior without him realizing it.

Finally, after seeing the King this episode, I really hope the kind-of-unlikely theory of the King acquiring radiation poisoning is true, just so Neteroâs final sacrifice can have SOME worth to it; as it stands now, he died in vain. I donât quite like that idea.

In any case, great episode! Looking forward to what happens next!

Wow. Never thought of the Meleoron and Knuckle part, that's pretty awesome.
And again, that reference to episode 105, about disrupting their rhythm.... very nice. I think you should make your own threads about these!
Me too! u absorb so much from the anime, its really helpfull, so i can understand how perfect and deep each episode is.

Er, what? Cell would take Meruem down with ease. Not because Meruem isn't powerful(he definitely is), just that DBZ characters are all absurdly strong and blow up planets for giggles. Maybe he'd have a chance if they were just going hand to hand.

Anyway, Gon regressing back to normal but still keeping his hair was kind of weird.

To be honest... I'm a bit underwhelmed at the moment. It feels like all of the build up in the arc with the Royal Guard and King has been undercut by the King's revival. That was great way to end things, yet now the King is back and so grossly OP that it's almost absurd.

I don't think a simple reunion with Komugi is going to do it for me. It's going to take a lot to justify the way things are going now, imo. I would have been more interested in seeing how the Royal Guards changed without their King than this.

Only a few eps left. I'll know soon.

Seeing how Pouf and Youpi would have reacted to Meruem's death would have surely been interesting, but I can't say I'm mad about the direction Togashi took the plot.

"If I win you'll tell me what you're hiding." "You and I are united as one."

I burst out laughing here. FINALLY Meruem reminds them once again that he can feel their emotions or whatever. Although I was laughing more at Pouf since he's trying the hardest to take out Komugi. Not that cutie Youpi can do anything about it in his current position.

Meruem's face at the end though. He's so close, and it's all thanks to your words Pouf. Well you can't expect them to not make mistakes

I was thinking maybe through something like bankruptcy, but that plan is down the drain now. Otherwise a sacrifice similar to Gon's could defeat him, or what if Meruem decides to make a game of some sorts, if he looses then suicide or something.

Will be interesting to see how in the world Ikalgo and Palm are going to get themselves out of this situation. Gon is toast, Killua's totally beat, and I'm pretty sure Knuckle and Meloreon are gonna be dead soon. So now who can actually take on the King OP and his merry fairies? Ikalgo alluded to doing something to "fight back" but what could he do, possibly? Suction Meruem till he dies of laughter?

I knew Meruem already knew. Pouf doesn't even look like he's trying to hide his feelings of bloodlust, panic, desperation, and guilt. Stupid idiot =___= Of course Meruem was just letting it slide.
