Cycling at night huh? Getting interesting now.

I still like Sakamachi's determination and everything he's went through so far. Yup, that's right, you tell it to them! And he shows it too by passing that guy. Awesome.

Great episode. Onoda's such a badass.

Wow, is it bad that I want the 2nd years to finally go to Interhigh? At the same time, I want our MCs to win too ><

It really bothers me when sports animes make the people outside of the main-main cast of characters out to be more villainy than they need to be.

I personally think the 2nd years deserve to go to inter-high for working with the limited talent that they have. I like onoda as a character, but god given talent being rewarded all the time bores me.

Well the preview said Onoda get last place but I'm pretty sure they say I will choose you on inter high or something.

Yep, and it's already their second year! It's so sad if they can't participate when they are actually putting load of effort in their traning!

Really liked the 2nd years' backstory. I hope they make it to the inter-high.
Onoda being the one passing them with the strength he built up during the camp wasn't surprising at all but still liked it.
Imaizumi and Naruko are great as usual.

Also LOL at the ending scene

Finally caught up with everyone else with this anime. Decided to check this out a week ago, and it's been great! More people should be watching this show :)

Didn't like the 2nd years all too much personally. I'm glad Onoda passed him, but the preview says that he'll be in last place? :O

If Teshima is so smart then why did he waste his stamina trying to race Onoda? He most certainly knew that Onoda was behind a lap or two, so he could just let him pass and focus on keeping Imaizumi and Naruko at bay.

Also did the author forget that Onoda was using heavier wheels? I could understand if he surpassed those 40 seconds using regular wheels, but with the heavy ones? Nah, I don't buy it.
But I'm questioning the logic in a damn shounen anime here, I guess I'm just wasting my time.

Besides that it was a pretty average episode. The flashback scenes with Teshima and Aoyagi were okay but the pacing in the present time was slow as balls.

Yeah, but the thing is their attitudes (or at least the perm guy's) suck! I know what it's like to love a hobby but still suck at it. But I don't let the fact that I'm not not a prodigy and not the best turn me into a sour person who wants to crush their other teammates just because they're more talented than me. Onoda and the others are also giving it all they've got. They're not going to succeed just because they're talented.

On another note, Onoda is so stinkin' cute! I can't handle it...

I liked the 2nd years story. It was pretty ok but I wish Teshima didn't act like such a jerk about winning and losing D<
I am rooting for Aoyagi though, I hope at least he makes it~

The friendship Naruko and Imaizumi have with Onoda always makes me feel so giddy X3

Lol at the end, I feel like Imaizumi is slowly turning into an otaku because of all those dvds Onoda gave him XD

I don't think the author forgot, maybe. I think it's more supposed to be like Onodera improved over the course of the training.
Like if he didn't have his wheels he probably would have won against songaku, he probably would have been on the lap as Naruko and rest :3
...maybe... lol

Awww, I thought the breakthrough would be more legit like actually using the darkness to their advantage. Like turn off the light on the bike and start sprinting on the opposite side of the Perm Guy THEN YAYYY. But no.

Love the ending where Imaizumi knew the lyrics to the song.

It really isn't god given talent persay. Remember how Onoda would always bike to Akibahara(which is far away) on a bike not made for pedaling that far. Even his parents limited the bike to keep him from going too far away. He has a developed skill that he unknowingly worked on for years, and now that he realizes this and is trying even harder, his skill is improving far more. His skill comes from hard-work and a strong will(though the will part kinda pulls it).

The only problem for the 2nd years is simply that, unlike Onoda and the rest, aren't so strong physically compared to the rest(can't confirm this though). Really, at that point, it just matters if they are willing to push themselves till they break like Onoda and his fellow first-years appear to be doing.

I was thinking onoda would do something like in initial d and use the night to his advantage and turn off his lights to ninja through lol

These training camp episodes are getting less interesting. The 2nd years seem to antagonistic, hopefully they actually do something in the future with all those beast in the other teams or else I feel their whole back story and all these episodes would feel kind of pointless...

The part after the ending was hilarious though, imaizumi the closet anime fan haha

I might be the only one but I honestly was rooting for Aoyagi and Teshima, even though I know that the first-years are inevitably going to "defeat" them. Rooting for the second-years almost seems like rooting for the underdog, given that they pretty much aren't cycling prodigies.

A bit of a spoiler alert, but I might just start reading the manga to get my fix of the second-years, haha. I wonder if the anime will go far enough to show the second-years as more central characters, but given its slow pace, I doubt we'll get there in just 22 episodes.

To teach viewers courage and the meaning of justice! No matter how many enemies there are. No matter how strong evil is. Just remember. Does any another country have so many heroes? The after credit omake saved the episode.

However this doesn't take away from the fact that this show is drifting too far away from its roots. I don't want to watch a bicycle sports animation, what I do want to watch is a show about an Otaku who, while remaining true to his otaku roots, also becomes a cyclist. For most of this episode I was hoping that the MC would use some sort of animation motivation to win, combining the two aspects of his character, but alas that was not to be, the "jock" won out.

That said the Omake was great and did, for me, save the episode, however for the series, they really need to bring more of the "mushi" to the show, that is what sets this anime apart from being a mere sports animation. They also need to bring the girl back, male bonding is fine and all that, but she adds a little more to the mix than they show has had for the past several weeks.

Idk why but this anime episodes feels like 5 minutes damn, wish they could laster abit longer well not to say that i got excited when onoda passed the 2nd year guy which was much more of a villain than a member of his team but pretty much seems pathetic because they worked for an entire year of effort and first years will just come and take there place that easily.

Four things.
1. Onoda, the main character, is really talented, unbelievably talented.
2. He started earlier than any of them in the morning, and he can last longer than a second year. Why not?
3. Hard work is shit without talent. That's some pretty damn bad message this series is trying to pass across. No matter how hard we work, those without talent cannot surpass those with talent.
4. I really cannot come to like Onoda.

I scored the series a "4", before this episode I wanted to increase it to a "7", but this episode killed it, once again. At times, I really love it, and at times like this, I really dislike it. Sigh. Don't forget, the first years are still handicapped, god damn. Sigh, whatever.

Sorry, but I don't see how do they suck. He wants to crush them so that they won't be able to continue, which give them chances to catch up again. Selfishness is human's nature. In fact, the perm guy actually doesn't mind letting his team mate gets all the glory. Let's say if they are not going against the main characters, would you still think the same about them? What if they are the main characters instead, would you still say that their attitude sucked? Edit: Oh and, Onoda stating that he wants both Imaizumi and Naruko to participate in the inter-high means that they will crush the second years' dream and effort, it's the same logic. If you hate the second years, hate the first years too.

Having a strategy and wanting to win is fine and all, but this guy is a jerk trying to crush his teammates for his own personal gain. I'll be happy to see the end of his role in this anime.

As for the heavy wheels, don't forget that he's been riding a utility bike with small front gear for years. And he has been riding longer than any of the others, so I buy his improvement. I also think he took a very short rest when he switched sides. I also think the previous :40 bursts weren't his max limit at full power, because he didn't have an all-consuming need to reach that limit before.
Your mean should be an even bell curve only if you watch every show that comes out. Having a high-slung mean doesn't mean you're rating improperly. It can also mean you're selecting shows well to watch mostly things you enjoy.

I didn't like perm-sempai attitude but I think the second years should have still be in the lead because they trained hard to go to inter-high, and onoda passing perm sempai seemed very unfair to me. 1. He just started bike racing and 2. His wheels are suppose to be heavier than the others but he is riding at the same seed or maybe faster than them. I beat that when he takes the heavy wheels off his bike he won't be faster than imaizumi or naruko, But you know this is anime logic. Also the fact that onada wants imaizumi and naruko to go to inter-high and he will catch up annoyance the heck out of me, I despise the whole friendship and love themes in these kind of anime's.

What sucks is that they can't all go to the Inter-high. ^^;

Aoyagi and Teshima have worked really hard to get a spot on the team, and you'd like to think that that alone would earn it for them... but we don't all get what we want. It's not a bad message, it's reality. Sometimes hard work alone isn't enough, especially when the people with talent are also busting their balls.

When it comes down to it... Teshima is only there to get Aoyagi on the stand, and without Teshima, Aoyagi wouldn't make it. They are really normal people. Nothing wrong with that, and their team work is exemplary, but if you want to make a team that will win, do you want to put on two people who are only great together, or two people who are each great? I'm sure there are people in the inter-high who wouldn't have any trouble passing Teshima's wall...

That said, Onoda is both endearing (I really do cheer for him), and annoying (what the heck is with him always catching up? It defies logic!) so I don't really know what to do with him. ^^; I do think that Imaizumi and Naruko are more interesting... but they need to start working together and not against each other so much.

*shrug* I'm still enjoying it, but I'm not going to look forward to the results of this training camp, really... because someone is going to get their dreams crushed, no matter what. ;_; And I have a feeling it's going to be the 2nd years, just because it's already been established that the 1st years are the MCs.

Onoda needs more otaku time. The omake was adorable, but not enough. *lol*
