Another character joining the fun in the season finale? Fun.

It wasn't a crazy final episode and we even see the cast back in classrooms in uniforms. Going to miss this anime for sure. It's one of those relaxing anime that enjoys having fun with its cast and their daily adventures.

The Cinephoto Club wanting to make their own movie, but with no prior knowledge and no plot in mind, much less the perils of video editing, turns to POV mockumentary for the horror themes, and who better than to call the Cinema Club's phantom member, the horror-loving Tajima for help.

The POV horror plot soon becomes the unanimous decision, but where to record, is the quesiton itself. That, with the help of Haruno, brings the small group to Fukashiro Dam in an attempt to get an idea to develop the story for the movie, which Tajima's acting abilities make her the part. Also, leveraging on Kurouma's horror expertise will help a lot, and the plan soon comes together for quite the movie itself.

The thing is, Tajima's acting being realistic, is convincing and all, but when the plan goes awry...due to urgent home errands, Tajima really gave everyone a momentary shock, even more that she suddenly ghosted, but even searching the class register that came back as a different person than what the Cinephoto Club had imagined, the mystery only deepens further. This is until they review the footage she took...and it was a complete prank aimed towards Sacchan and Kiriyama from the fake Tajima that is their Senpai of Fuuka Inomata, though the REAL surprise of seeing Makinohara-senpai catching up with both of them on how the Cinephoto Club has been doing thus far, it was certainly the journey of friends and fun experiences altogether that made all of this possible.

Maybe it's not the journey that's of significance, but the friends we shared along the way, and that's mono's Modus Operandi.
The clear, inferior version of Yuru Camp, but still very good overall.

An anime-original ending is certainly not what I expected from this show, but I ain't complaining because guess what.. for once since like episode one basically, they actually do what the whole premise of this show is about... cinephoto! Yeah. bet a couple of y'all forgot that was even the main plot because it hasn't been brought up like at all since we set it up in the first couple episodes lol. Gotta respect the staff for trying to unironically trying make this shit actually cinephoto related.

Obviously they were setting this up since last episode, I mean, the whole like second half of it was anime-original as well. They set it up with the whole movie thing they were talking about at the end of last episode, and we actually get to see it get put to work here. Yeah, I know, as crazy as it might seem... the girls... actually DOING SOMETHING FOR ONCE?!?! It got pretty scary for a second there, but with some words of encouragement from senpai, they compile all the memories they've made in these past twelve episode in order to make for one helluva movie.

Honestly man, this was so much fun on a week-to-week basis. I’ve never even been that much of a Yuru Camp fan compared to most, but something about this just totally won me over. I think the insane production values played a big part, not just because I’ll never turn down some good sakuga, but also because Yuru Camp Season 3 was such a visual mess lol.

Needless to say, I’m excited to see where Soigne goes from here as a new studio, because they’ve definitely piqued my interest now.

Funny finale. I didn't expect a horror movie. That prank was quite amusing.

Cute and hilarious CGDCT. I loved all the Yuru Camp cameos. Gonna miss these girls. This needs a second season.

Ending the season with the girls trying to make a movie was great. I didn’t see the twist coming at the end with Makinohara senpai coming back, but it was a nice way to show how far Sacchan has come. It’s hard to picture her as that empty husk of a girl we saw in episode 1 after her beloved senpai left. These girls meant the world to me and really my week so much better. I’m gonna miss them so much.

The girls wanting to make something, but not wanting to edit was so fucking real because lord knows I come up with video ideas on the daily but am just too lazy to sit down and edit stuff. I envy pros who just have to record and can ship everything off to an editor. Regardless, really had fun with the mockumentary style film production process they were going for today. Even though it never came to fruition, seeing Blair witch project and paranormal activity references in my CGDCT seasonal was cool lol.

I almost started believing Tajima was an actual ghost when no one at school knew her, but then I remembered all the haunted gimmicks we’ve had here before with Kurokuma and even Haruno sensei’s “spirit” so I figured there had to be a logical explanation! That’s a mean prank Sakurako played ๐Ÿ˜‚

As I said, bringing back senpai was cool because it shows how much Sacchan has changed. Yea, she still fangirls out over Makinohara, but she’s become her own person with her own friends and interests and isn’t entirely reliant on her senpai. Very lowkey character development! Wasn’t really stressed over the course of the season, but looking back on it, you do see her changing a lot! “I want to capture everything”

Onto the manga!

The anime is finally over!

You can read my thoughts on it here. I'd love it if you could add some emojis to keep me motivated to write more ๐Ÿ‘‡

Also, I’d like to give a special thanks to @AkeZZZ who made my experience with the anime even better.

Well, and its over ... just like that. Now, i guess the only thing left besides the wishes for the second season is to ask when are we getting a collab special of some sorts with the Yuru Camp gang ?

Seriously tho, the little cameos here and there are fine, but it would be a real shame not to see a full one.

DAMMIT, ITS OVER NO NON NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONNONONIONONJIORNHOJNWORIGJNOUWEBFIWEHBNFKUFJBWFBFJNSK.FNLWFM,

I LOVED this episode so much. Them trying to make a movie was so fun to watch and I for sure would love to watch it if they actually come out with one. That prank Shikishima did was so good, I actually thought that "Tajima" fell into the lake and completely disappeared. Though, glad that ACTUALLY didn't happen. That ending scene with Makinohara was really great for Satsuki. Seeing her senpai again must've been really shocking for her since she hasn't seen her in a while. And her being in the prank made it even better. I loved how Satsuki instantly took pictures of Makinohara. I love this anime and will miss it so much.

A tatami and Kotatsu would make their club room downright cozy. The transition of actually tearing down a table cloth after the cultists was pretty fun. Tajima clearly had been watching a lot of classic horror films lol. Their filming of the POV sure ended up going sideways. Still in the end im glad that no one was harmed in the process. Nice to see Makinohara senpai again as well. Be nice to see a sequel for this as i really enjoyed this chill series.

And so we end with a POV horror prank leading to reflections on the journey as a whole.

In hindsight this series had a fair bit of horror, didn't it? Always enjoy seeing Jason's mask pop up in anything unexpectedly. Anywho, this cgdct travel series often got mixed together in my mind with Zatsu Tabi, which also aired this season. I guess I could have used the cinephoto club angle to differentiate, but it felt like the travel itself was much more the main focus. No surprise then that Yuru Camp had several connective cameos. I'll also remember this for that HSD Kenichi manga cameo in an earlier episode. I found this cute and enjoyable enough. Worthy of a solid 7/10 for the last series of the Spring season I finished. Excluding those continuing on to Summer, of course. :)

I really loved the sense of humor and the focus on the girls in the photography club in the first few episodes of the show, but as soon as the focus started to be more on the adult cast, on some seemingly random outings, with less comedy and more slice of life moments, it started to lose a lot in quality and to become fairly boring imo.
Basically, I didn't enjoy myself a whole lot watching this show, passed the first couple of episodes. I kept watching until the end, hoping it would find its groove back, but it never really happened.

If I had to evaluate the series based on the first couple of episodes only, it would probably be one of my favorites of the season, but if I consider the whole series it is the biggest disappointment of the season for me, unfortunately.

that finale sequence with amamiya meeting her senpai makinohara again was actually the perfect ending. i loved it so much, watching all their videos and photos together. one of the funnest cast of characters just being themselves. i will miss slice of life saturdays with this and hibimeshi.

aside from that, the episode itself was great. can we get their movie as an OVA lol.

@Sheol01 Oh, & somebody here actually read "The Exorcist" novel, that scene where Tajima chased them bent over backwards is straight out of the book. Shame the Movie cut most of the really good stuff & went for pea soup. Oh well, Hollywood.

This is the only episode of the series I have rated 5/5.
How much you enjoy Slice of Life Anime depends a lot on whether it clicks with you, and there are many parts of this that just don't for me.
I think the reason may be that I don't like the main characters that much.
I like quiet characters, so Sakurako is my favourite of the five.
Haruno is mostly annoying to me, probably because I don't like the jokes associated with her.
Characters like Kiriyama can be fun, but I dislike the kind of jokes where someone just pops up in a bubble and screams.
I don't think that kind of thing is bad in manga form, it simply doesn't work well for me in anime form.
Kako is cool, no complains about her, I like her.
Meanwhile, they say that Satsuki was an empty husk until she met the others, but I feel like she still is an empty husk.
She's like that person that tags along, sometimes says something, but mostly exists without anyone noticing.
I've been that person, I know that they exist, but it's hard to like a character like that.
At least I knew I would like a part of the episode if Kurokuma showed up, because, surprisingly, the best aspect of this show is the horror...

An actually great episode, and guess why? Because this episode's plot is, for once, about the school's "cinephoto" club. I wish the rest of the series was like this too, rather than being the mangaka's animated blog.

I really liked it, a pretty relaxing anime, fun and heartwarming. I’m going to miss it, a new season won’t come anytime soon. The manga has few volumes from what I saw. It’s good that Makinohara showed up, I was missing her, even though she only appeared in the first episode.

Lol I literally predicted that Takajima's disappearance was fake. Granted, I thought they were actually filming it as a mockumentary instead of a regular prank. But either way, it's just amazing that they spent a week looking for her and thought she was a ghost when they literally had actual footage of her. Also, it clearly should have had a horror tag too, considering how often they returned to that theme.

@Mikarin_Enjoyer Unnecesary? But it gave so many opportunities for shippers to pretend there was yuri in the story, lmao. Even writing about some teasing between their elders.

@Marinate1016 Lowkey character development? Lol, if at the beginning of the show she simply turned into an amoeba under the table without her senpai, now she calmly accepts the absence of her next to her, even reacting to the promise to come visit for the holidays as if he were her distant relative. Ships are a separate conversation, but she is already a completely independent person with her own circle of friends and interests, which is clearly not small and worthy of respect.

As for the manga, I don't know if it was officially translated. The anime already overtook the fan translation 2 or 3 episodes ago.

@FMmatron This manga is already a spin-off of Yuru Camp, they don't need to make an additional focus on it. Moreover, it would be simply disrespectful to its characters and the author himself, as if he needs to constantly remind about his magnum opus to sell other works.

It's pretty common for related series to have cross overs, even from the mangaka. A legend like Toriyama did it with featuring the Dr. Slump cast in OG Dragon Ball. And there was a Dragon Ball Super episode that featured Arale. There's nothing disrespectful about it at all. Another point in case would be that there's a short cross over chapter of Yuru Camp and Mono. Based on that there could very well be an episode where the cast members do some joined activities.

@FMmatron Slump is a very old manga that was already a golden classic when Dragon Ball was airing or written. But even then, Dragon Ball was already firmly established as Toriyama's magnum opus. This would have worked if Mono had been Afro-sensei's very first work. As you can see from the reviews, some are already complaining that Mono is trying too hard to evoke the author's more famous and popular work, even with a few subtle cameos, lmao.

They got me. Kinda surprised by that Tajima suddenly appearing after voicing why you left me and such. Nice prank Sakurako & Inomoto.
But that Tajima they showed later is still their member not?

Showing their senpai again at last was nice. Pavlov's dog lol. Also this yuri tease aside, An also said she Sacchan at first. It never came back so what's the point๐Ÿ˜

There was some cinephoto involved at end. Majority of it there was only travel and mangaka stuff which isn't the point of the show. If the three main girls weren't this likeble it would have been even worse imo. An & Sakurako saved it...

It's totally valid to have a cross over on a special occasion. Merely one chapter/episode isn't exactly relying on a more popular series. And neither are some brief cameos and references which barely make up a fraction of the whole series. You shouldn't treat some random reviews as gospel.

@FMmatron The problem isn't the crossovers themselves, but the fact that this manga is already in the shadow of Yuru Camp. So while the review I mentioned is clearly exaggerating, people have a point when they complain that everyone sees Mono exclusively through YC's imagination.

@RobertBobert

Rather than a problem it's completely normal when a series doesn't reach the same success of a previous work. You can still enjoy it for what it is. When people can't get past the fact that it's not as good as Yuru Camp it's on them. When others are pressed by aforementioned people, that's on the people who are pressed. Whether the characters exist in the same verse or not won't change a thing for the people who didn't enjoy Mono in the first place. They will see it as a cheap attempt to evoke interest and have another aspect they can point out and negatively criticize.

Meanwhile people who like both series can enjoy the cast members coming together.

@FMmatron Jesus, man. You can repeat the same thing in different words all you want, I already get your point. But it won't change the fact that this manga is already being hurt by the shadow of Yuru Camp over it and I don't think delving into it any more won't make things worse. I guess just deal with it and move on.

Wasn’t expecting one last return to horror here at the end of the show, but if the girls didn’t wanna edit then a POV Horror/Found Footage movie is the way to go, however it didn’t go as planned. And tbh, I never once fell for the prank lol, the moment “Tajima” disappeared my first thought was that she threw a rock into the lake and hid behind a bush or something, and that ended up being the case with the rock, but what did surprise me was that she had a getaway car nearby and Makinohara, the senpai that Satsuki was obsessed with, as the getaway driver lol, yeah I can’t blame Satsuki and An for falling for this one.

Well played tho, it was a really fun bit even if I saw the prank coming (another alternative I thought of was that the whole thing was the movie, but they didn’t go that far lol), and ngl Inomata as “Tajima” did a fantastic job, I’m almost sad her Tajima character isn’t a real one because she was so fun lol, that to me was a more realistic portrayal of someone who likes horror, over Kurokuma who makes it her whole personality. But this begs the question, who is the actual shadow member of the club if it’s not Tajima? I guess we’ll never know lol. But yeah this made for a really good finale, the references to real horror movies like Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity were really cool, and I also loved that Satsuki got to talk to her senpai again here at the end, she was a husk at the start of the show but she’s come pretty far without her now. And lastly, wait are you telling me Satsuki was filming off screen when they were traveling? Not sure if I buy that lol, oh well.

And that was it for the “travel and food SoL disguised as one about photography” anime, I know that sounds mean but I actually loved this show lol. Yeah I would have preferred it stick more to the original premise over the course of the show, it’s why I picked this up over some other SoLs this season after all, but the show was still so stupidly fun that I can’t really complain here at the end. And imo it’s the characters that make an SoL over the theme, and I really loved this cast, I could watch these girls goof off whether it involves a camera or not lol, I think I’m especially gonna miss An and her bottomless pit of energy. And although I haven’t seen Yuru Camp at the time of writing this, I do think the cameo appearances of characters from that series were pretty cool, I think it got to be a bit much at times but overall they were neat to see, maybe I would’ve appreciated them more if I had actually seen Yuru Camp lol.

And I’m really gonna miss that OP and ED, two of my favorites this season no doubt just like the show itself, halca’s ED being the last one I heard every Saturday was so fitting. I’d absolutely love a Season 2 for this one, and in the meantime I guess I’ll hit Yuru Camp, and hopefully Soigne can make more bangers too!

I'll give this series a 7 at best, and a 6 at worst.

The very last episode is the first time in a long time the premise of the show is put to use.

Everything before that has all been blatant advertising for tourism. Especially for the episode where it's exclusively focused on the adults, it just screams "SEE OUR CRAP!!!!!!!!"

Which sucks, because the episodes where there was a slight focus on photography are really good!

Awesome finale! :'D

The blatant Paranormal Activity 2 and Blair Witch Project references had me fangirling frfr. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Liked this anime, but it could've done with more photography.

Based for using trackball.

Both my favorite comfort anime are now over, mono and Hibimeshi :( I guess I'll rewatch Yurucamp on the weekends.

NEED SECOND SEASON NOW!!!
Mono was just soooo good, I enjoyed every second of it. This last episode was really cute, Satsuki seeing Makinohara again was really heartwarming. I'll miss the comfiness this anime brings </3
Now that it's finished, maybe I should watch Yuru Camp.

There was some part after the episode 2 or 3 that the episodes started to get pretty boring or uninteresting, but somewhere after the episode 6, the series got a good comeback. Overall, it was pretty fun to watch and the last episode too. Hope this one gets a second season in the future.

Absolute Kinooo closing

My favorite part was when Sacchan said "่‰ฒใ‚“ใชใƒขใƒŽใ€ๆ’ฎใ‚ŠใŸใ„ใ‚“ใงใ™๏ผ" and ๆ’ฎใ‚‹ all the ใƒขใƒŽ

Seeing them finally do school club activities in schoolwear is refreshing after a long summer break arc
The recap and reunion is really touching

Shadow member appeared in the last episode? if only this was still episode four...

Oh, wow... MC(?)'s monolouge sounds like the protagonist? Why does it feel like I was forced to believe it?

I already forgot her name and her existence, Hafrono-kyun.

Hope Yuru Camp season 4 won't turn out like this.
