You're right, but that didn't bother me that much personally. As you say, they can get away with it by claiming it's an artistic choice.

Also, I assume the "95%" claim means that 5% of the effort includes manual clean-up of AI mistakes. If the final version somehow ends up looking better, and it's somehow achieved with far fewer people and in a shorter timeframe...

More like the plot is meant to try to get around the limitations of the technology. At least it isnt fully AI.


What are you even saying lol Cutting jobs is a good thing? No all they have to do is stop overproducing anime and not be greedy. Have you seen how many series are made every season? It's like 40 + every season. There is no point in an adaptation if it is of subpar quality and no one has time to watch it. Just use your imagination and you would get better results.

There was a video Dong Chang made on him being involved on an AI tool to make in between frames then edit them after. I cant find the video for some reason. That seems a better use than the very sloppy look of AI prompt and warp animation

You havent watched like 5% of all anime made so far and are only watching one show right now.

I'm glad ai is saving money and cutting jobs this means better anime at cheaper costs meaning more manga can be adapted to anime . This is if the anime made due to ai changes are good enough in comparison to the people who's jobs they took. And if the animes shit that's a positive because it means they'll improve the way they use ai to create a better product so eventually these jobs costing money will be cut and more anime will be made.

1. Fewer people making anime in the lower positions would mean less costs so more anime could be made by the same studio.
2. Animators losing there job Is a positive they'll be motivated to create their own work in which they can also use ai to create. so more unique anime made.
3. I don't care whether anime is made by automation or humans as long as its entertaining it doesn't matter the Internet and automation has given birth to so many ideas and media what does it matter if it goes further then educate people and create something for itself remember it's still humans making this prompt of animation so still technically made by humans in my mind.
4. And 5. More anime means higher chances of better anime being made its just a maths game. Good anime I will enjoy will be made more if there's a ridiculous amount of anime created.

I don't think that's what's going to happen. Maybe it'll happen in the long-term, like a generation later.

I would argue that it's equally likely (and even more likely) that the animators will just exit the industry to greener pastures, and the anime industry will be stuck with AI-driven projects only.

Simply coming up with a prompt and letting the AI do the rest is not what I call "made by humans", and is not a creative process. I don't think I can give ground on this matter.

Anime is entertaining because it's made by talented people with interesting ideas. The more they drift away from this principle, the less entertaining what they make is.

I wish I shared your optimism, but I really don't see this happening.

Just because there is more stuff being produced does not mean there will be more "good" stuff being produced. Especially if it's done by driving away creatives in the name of reducing cost.

It's the same as arguing that having more fast-food restaurants will increase the availability of good, healthy food, just because "it's a numbers game."

At least they say it up-front, instead of quietly sneaking it in and hoping no one would notice...

I don't like it in principle, but I'm a little curious about how this will turn out.

There was already some human touch lost when going from cell animation to digital. Not that there is anything inherent about digital since they can mimic traditional. But AI on other hand can not properly mimic human touch. I think only place for AI is textures same as any CG would do because even in the highest quality stuff they aren't going to go that detailed. It also can be for in between frames but not fully automated just a tool for animators to get their work done easier and tweak it as needed but it creates a major problem of a loss of art skills until there will be no artists left which you already have been seeing with CG being used a lot due to a shortage of talented 2D animators which will lead to 100% AI stuff which will all stagnate

@perseii your last sentence tells me everything I need to know since when do people go to fast food restaurants for "healthy food" yes having more fast food places means they'll likely be a higher number of tastier ones too. This is common sense if you can't accept the principle more things = more good and bad things you're the problem.

but still ai will continue to improve anyway and will at least increase what is mid level quality in anime this days but for the best of anime then traditional methods are still the best
