Looks like we got some background storytelling about Rishia and her connection with the bow hero. Kind of a sad story to hear when you hear about her banishment from the party.

I kinda like how Rishia is doing whatever she can to be useful for Naofumi's party. Not exactly the most exciting episode but kinda important to know more about Rishia and plus, they made some progress on dealing with the Spirit Tortoise. Oh and Glass is back!

That was a really big cliffhanger, L´Arc, Therese and Glass are back!

The episode wasn´t the most intense but we get to see the rishia flashback that was necessary because she was introduce without a lot of explanation so now we know more about her.

And is ti me or the first parte of the episode some of the faces were a bit poorly drawn?

Looks like Glass is back.

Some backstory from Rishia and how she meet the bow hero, that very sad.
Also Rishia said that she is one of Naofumi なかま.

Hey, look Rishia's backstory they brush over it but still didn't properly adapt all of it. Great job guys! This was a good episode actually as it bothers to flush someone out and give us the cool reveal. This is still a speedrun though. We should be done with this arc around episode 6 or 7. So, I hope this was worth it.
I haven't updated in years but now I have changed that. I'll be free soon.

so are Glass, L'arc & Therese the Vassel heroes they mentioned a few episodes ago? they are strong/stronger then the Bow, Spear, sword and shield. or are they stronger simply because they work better with each other?

I feel like those three are vassel heroes that were mentioned previously, I guess I should be asking why they are trying to destroy the world, but we previously saw glass come with the waves of calamity so could they be vassel heroes chosen by the Waves of calamity to fight off the legendary heroes? if they were chosen by the waves of calamity then why (speculation ahead) wake the spirit tortoise, unless they aren't working with the waves of calamity but instead they simply trying to save their own worlds?

I got nothing but speculation, nothing concrete. however I wonder what will happen next episode, is naofumi ready to fight them again?

another boring episode, this season is really living up to my expectations in that way, it was obvious by the end of the first season..

My favourite moment of perhaps the entire season so far: Ost starts whiny dialogue and Naofumi just walks away lmao

Glass is back huh, I guess its getting somewhat interesting? Though 1/3 of the cour is already over so it is about time.

We got some backstory to Rishia but will we ever see why she wears her fursuits all the time?

Rishia's backstory of being saved and betrayed by the Bow Hero Itsuki, I want to feel sorry for her but it just feels shallow.

The Spirit Tortoise is not done yet, there's still its back to go, and even worse that it's shrouded with fog. Ost is the one that's in most danger now because of her position as its servant, but it's only by going in deeper will they know what to expect...and a village ravaged of people struck by the Spirit Tortoise that there're no survivors.

The text itself where the seal was most likely to be broken in a temple, it's the Spirit Tortoise's story but written in Japanese by former Cardinal Heroes to warn them about the
Rishia going with them to expect to see Itsuki again, that's a first step for her.

It's a surprise for Naofumi and gang to see L'Arc, his companion Therese and Glass again, the Vassal Heroes whom we've seen in Season 1.
What will these 3 have on their guises again???

After an awful first 3 eps we actually got a decent episode for once. Hard to evaluate eps independently when the season as a whole has been such a poor adaptation, but this was solid. I did enjoy the campfire scene quite a bit.

Think the anime did a good job of showing you the impact Ost has had on Rishia. It’s hard to really feel her development tho because of how much the anime has skipped with the training arc and other bits of info, but she’s definitely grown.

The meeting in the LN was way better.

Finally we get more of Risha's backstory and why she's loyal to the Bow hero. Overall I'd say this is a better paced episode. However before Risha came to pray with Ost she was getting distraught and got a pep talk from Eclair and Raphtalia she thanked Filo. Why Filo didn't say a Damm thing. That was just a really weird moment, and "Boy I sure wish someone got fired for that blunder."

Nice to see L'arc, Threase, and Glass return. We're definitely going to see them team up in the next episode.

There heroes from the another world similar to the one Naofumi's in now. Glass was a wave antagonist in the earlier episodes, L'arc and Therese became temporary comrades of Naofumi during the island arc, before they betrayed him when the next wave came.

I'm a big fan of tate no yuusha, but this episode is being a little disappointing...Although a lot of people don't like the spiritual Turtle arc, I like it (in the manga) for being a world construction, but the way it it's running is so rudimentary and weak...
Animation: I liked the first episode, because they have full fights, without having cuts in the action moments like in the first season, but in this episode, there are static moments without animation that were poorly designed. And I'm afraid how the next arc will be adapted, because it's very good! I blame Kadokawa for not knowing how to differentiate between quantity and quality.
Bonus: something I liked about this episode was highlighting the characters Ost and Rishia, because there was indeed a DEVELOPMENT of the characters, something that many ignore... Episode 4: It wasn't too bad, but not good either; I notice a downfall.. .

Jumping onto the back of the spirit tortoise so that hopefully Ost can remember how to kill this thing. A much slower episode after we had a couple heavy actions one previously. Naofumi and company trying to make their way through this fog on the tortoise back. Seeing many injured and aiding solider from the allied armies. Even cutting off the spirit tortoise head cost everyone so much. Naofumi must find a way to kill it permanently, Ost is the key to that searching closer. Rishia had a good deal of focus this episode, we see her backstory and why she's so connected to the bow hero Itsuki. Ost encouraging Rishia to stand tall even when she feels down. Rishia has dealt with a lot of inferiority complex issues since her parents were betrayed, not feeling like she's good enough to help anyone since she couldn't help them. Venturing further along the spirit tortoise basic finding the towns folk killed. Very sad seeing innocent people murdered like that, whomever started up the spirit tortoise unannounced has to pay. Finding that temple provided some nice lore with Naofumi recognizing the Japanese written there by ancient heroes. That could prove useful later. Nice stinger to end the episode revealing Larc, Therese, and Glass also going through the spirit tortoise body towards the heart.

Can anyone tell me if the whole village and the shrine thing were ON the turtoise?? Naofumi said they are climbing the turtle. I don't understand how they were on the tortoise and the next thing we see is the queen and her army are there too. And if so, how they ignore the fact that the village is ON the turtle and how come it was ruined?

I am really disappointed with the story telling in this season. It's all over the place, those small things can sometimes break the whole reason/logic.

This is some of the most mind-numbing stuff I've ever had to sit through. There is absolutely nothing in this stupid spirit tortoise arc that is remotely as interesting as anything in the first season. Who are these new people? Why is this arc even important? Why should I even care? It's a real shame, since this series had a little something going for it.

They already mentioned that the Spirit tortoise was located on the Spirit tortoise country and the turtle itself was on the capital, you just missed it.

i swear at this point no one here has anything positive to say except to complain, last week people complained to much action was in it and in this weeks their is a lack of action. no is ever happy.

So thats how Rishia met Itsuki the idiot. Despite her role as a familiar it is true that during the battle to take down the tortoise Ost's actions did save a lot of lives. Finding a destroyed village on the turtle though was pretty unexpected but also pretty sad as well. If the seal had not been broken those people probably would have been still alive. Rishia may not be the best fighter but in studying and making use of that knowledge to help others is what makes her such an asset. Its nice seeing Rishia try to be braver by speaking up. Im also really liking the strong bond thats being forged between Ost and Rishia as well as both are serving to help each other overcome their respective trials. To think that we would meet L'arc, Glass and Therese so soon. Overall a decent ep but it looks like the studio rather than following the novels is streamlining the main narrative threads to make them more easily understood. Still by skipping the training sub arc at least they manage to cover the main events of v6 and get to v7. I wonder will they add L'arc's team into the forces trying to stop the tortoise when it awakens and attacks again.

Okay, I understand now why Rishia's so dead lock on Itsuki. Thanks to her backstory, at least my irritation will just be solely for that meh bow hero. Despite a lot of people getting disappointed, I'd like to say that the character backstory and developments made up to the lacking parts. I'd still give it a thumbs up.

Enjoyed this one, as I can feel the tension continuing to rise as the mystery of the tortoise continues to deepen. And now the three heroes from the waves are here? Maybe the have to do the with 7 that's keeps popping up. 4 cardinal heroes and 3 other heroes makes 7. Perhaps that's how they'll seal the tortoise?

The backstory of Rishia was welcome. She was unlucky to be dragged off and locked up due to some crappy lords, but it was where Itsuki rescued her from her dilemma, one of the few things he's ever done right in this series, only to get rid of her in the present day. Ah well, his loss is Naofumi's gain! =P

The episode itself had a complete different contrast to last week, where it was all focused on the battle, whereas this one was more focused on adventuring on the spirit tortoise itself, finding out about the people who lived on the tortoise and also finding out more about the info left by the ancient cardinal heroes.

Eventually, with the threat of the tortoise reviving, Naofumi's group went into its insides (lol) in order to take it down once and for all by destroying the heart. However, the trio that they encountered were suspicious and Naofumi and Raphtalia acted upon it, revealing the trio to be the same group we saw back in the last arc from season one, glass, L'arc and Therese.

It'll be interesting to see if they'll join Naofumi or not next time. =)

Glass is hot af, especially with these twin tails, and she was always the only character I liked and was interested in S1 as well. However, S2 is so bad (and half of S1 as well), that I won't pick up again the show now, just to admire her. I assume the writer will butcher her character anyway :(

Probably lack of character development. The closest thing we get is flashbacks explaining the back story of characters that have been on screen for 4 episodes now that they were expecting us to care about.

Ralphtalia just says the MC's name over and over, that's all she's going to do for the rest of the season. Basically gave her the Asuna treatment from SAO.

Bad animation compared to last season

the plot is a giant turtle and not revenge anymore

all of the heros in the show act autistic constantly to the point where it's not even believable that they make the choices they make, besides the MC. However he's just kind of boring now so there's that. He has the same expression and attitude the entire show at all times.

the fight scenes aren't remotely interesting, they're boring. It also no longer shows him gaining new abilities or using them in interesting ways.

hmmm what else?

the cast you see on screen are background mob characters that for some reason got thrown in as a main cast. Old lady monk character??!? why is she taking up any screen time?

green hair girl that wears a chicken suit while being shy and that's her defining feature/personality

I'm just not rooting for any of the characters at all, and quite frankly i don't care how they defeat the girant turtle, which apparently can be one shot by the judgement beam from hundreds of miles away and be down for several days, so they don't really need the heros anyways.

I am certain the adaptation is far from perfect, but my main problems with S1 lie with character and story writing, which are exclusively the author's fault. The direction actually seemed pretty decent (unlike in S2), so I just assumed she will get the same treatment from the author as most other characters.
