All I know is when I get a child, if he's male, I'm naming him Gaara, not only because it's a character from Naruto, but it can be pronounced in literally every language.

You don't have to be Japanese to have a Japanese name.

If you're going to name a kid smthin like Yuki or Kira then I really couldn't care less but if you're naming someone smthin like Hiroshima or Goku then I'm sorry you need to look at yourself in the mirror and just ask what you've just done.

How is that messed up? And how is it any different than naming him Alaxander for an example? It's pronounceable in like every language, we didn't name him Toushirou Hitsugaya lol

I used to think that if I get a daughter I'd want to name her Nausicaä (from the manga, haven't seen the movie). The "ä" can confuse people though. It's a dieresis, not an umlaut as it is in the Scandinavian and German languages.
Might add that one of the reasons I'd be ok with that name is that it's Greek, so it's at least part of a shared European culture. Greek names are already extremely common among non-Greeks.

Well, there are some silly names out there.

Still, there's plenty of normal Japanese names out there. My name is short and simple.

How about name your own kid with your own country character on anime? thats more fair i say.

Unless you want 50 year later the world filled with japanese name from anime.
Oh and make sure to make them like the character their name from or they or someone will suffer.

Yup, proud of it to. Besides nobody even knows where the name is from. Most people just say "oh what an unusual name" and that's the end of that

Basically this^

It's hard to explain but it's just you'd have to be a very opportunistic father to force your appreciations on a child in such a manner.

I will never do that, or specifically I won't name my children by thinking about anime character.

Too niche and far from the known acceptable culture can be messed up and ruin that person life, especially we're talking about kid.

I hope he grows strong...

You're naming your kid after an anime character, if you don't see anything slightly wrong about that then I don't know what to say lol. Guess this might be a downside to being having kids at 22.

It's not like I can do anything about it either way, good day to you.

As a matter of fact I don't see anything wrong with it. Just like i dont see anything wrong with naming your kid after a random famous guy, i got a friend named Elvis after.. well Elvis. No one has ever even bat an eye.

Downside to having kids at 22? Almost everyone I know of around here even had kids before that, it's the norm here. Got a feeling you'll never have kids, but if so I'd feel bad for them having such a uptight parent.
