Do you bother scrolling through others' Anime Lists?

On MAL....
Do you scroll through other users' lists?
Or do you only bother with your own?

I just wanted to see if there is some sort of consensus here.

As far as scrolling through lists, I find it useful for comparison as well as just pure curiosity about the user I am searching.

I honestly don't really see the point of looking at someone else's list.

The only time I look at someone else's list is when trying to find a recommendation for them in the recommendation threads. Even then, all I do is click 'shared anime' and look at my own list of stuff they haven't seen.

Of course. It's necessary if you want to give recommendations or if you are looking for someone to simulwatch a series with you. Or for people with good taste just to get some recs from their list of some reference. Or out of plain interest regularly taking a look at the list of someone on my MAL friendlist.
I probably regret this post by now.

Personally, I'm a little obsessive when confronted with database systems, so I enjoy taking in as much as I can.
I often just scroll through lists of people I don't know whatsoever.

I'm wondering if there are others that do that...

Sometimes I do - especially when I'm looking for something to read or watch. Majority of the time, I only bother with my list, keeping track of my manga list or what was the last anime episode I watched etc. etc.

When I'm checking what they give the anime I like, so I know their taste. Also checkig which anime they dropped.

Yep when I am giving recommendations I look through their list to see what they like and what not.

And sometimes I like to compare ratings between theirs and my own. Also like reading the tags.

When I find someone who has a similar taste, I will definitely scroll down their list to compare and see where I could find another series to watch.

I'll scroll though other people's lists if i think they may have similar taste but not if they have 1000+ listed.

Sure I'll look through other peoples list if I'm posting a topic that requires it. Otherwise I just stick to myself and my friends lists.

I usually click the all shared-button instead of viewing the actual list. I do that pretty much with everyone whose profile I visit. It's often just a quick peek, though.

Same here. I like seeing what other people have rated the anime I've watched. I usually only look through their entire anime list if I'm in a thread that requires it or if we seem to have very similar taste.

When giving recommendations.
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

If someone show signs of sharing the same taste/opinion as myself in forums, I sometimes do a quick check to see if it's true.

If I like his list, I'll take note of his higher rated shows as I might like them too.

I mean, without doing so, I'll never find shows like Serial Experiment Lain, Gunslinger Girl etc etc.

If I stumble across a list that has a really cool design, I'll look through it out of curiosity. I'm not really qualified to judge other people's taste, so...yeah.

If somebody also have short and funny tags on their lists, I wouldn't mind reading some of them. Then again, I rarely ever click lists at all unless I'm recommending anime. No idea how anime list views can get that high for some to be honest without some exploits or something.

Might be bots. I think they hone in on list tags. Or stalkers. I dunno.

I try to look at the whole list of all the people whose profiles I visit, which are not too many.
Don't really care whether or not people look at mine in return because even I think that it's a pain to scroll through it.

Plus, if the compatibility meter is high, I look for 9 rated series.

I might sometimes check peoples lists to see what anime they consider to be really great (don't bother with me tho, because it's rather subjective, and I give out more 10s then other users, due to my gradigs system being a bit different).

Same, a lot of the "custom" ones are a pain to the eye.

Although I only check lists from people who have similar taste, or to see what episode they dropped an anime at.
