So we all know both of these.
If you don't know about r/Anime,
r/Anime is the biggest otaku place on reddit.

Which place do you like to spend time and to talk about anime?
(I am talking about forum , Anime Discussion, Anime news and people)

I haven't really spent time on reddit. The most I have seen from the subreddit are just a few posts. Not really a fan of reddit, I'll take MAL.

Reddit for fun discussions and jokes. Can't have same fun on MAL or at least I haven't seen any fun happening in MAL episode discussions. But still I prefer MAL and go to r/anime only for few popular animes, rest I discuss only on MAL.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

The (relatively) decrepit and wild wests of MAL are infinitely preferable compared to the saturated echo-chamber of /r/Anime

[Although the occasional episode-dedicated thread will sometimes be very palatable]

Reddit is for zoomers. Their mind is gone from eating tide pods and playing Among Us.

One major difference between r/anime and mal forums is that on reddit, people post videos of various anime scenes, such as comedic anime scenes or slice-of-life scenes. MAL is my preferred forum for anime discussion. In addition, r/anime has its own official anime of the year awards.

r/anime is a bit too normie for my taste and everything becomes an echo chamber and gets stale really quick for me. That's the thing with social media, if you don't agree with something that everyone else unanimously does, you're gettin' lynched!
Well, in the case of this subreddit, I feel like it doesn't really have much of that but more so just gets boring really quick. There's anime + episode discussions and the occasional hot-ish take here and there and tons of random anime clips. For me it's just really boring.

MAL on the other hand, while having more "interesting" discussions, is prone to becoming an uncivilized cage of barking dogs. Go onto any discussion regarding a popular ongoing anime... it's a mess! XD

both suck tbh

on reddit i tend to get dogpiled and downvoted for posting unpopular opinions (ie: lust from fma is an example of a sexualized woman, and even though it's entirely intentional in the narrative, does not fit op's request for an anime with no sexualization, including big boobs)

on mal my posts keep getting deleted when i mention op's mom's sex tape. i really wish the mods stop trying to cover it up, it's a masterpiece and should be respected as one of the anime of all time.

If there was a downvote system, I'm sure people would have downvoted the posts here as well. But, yes, people on Reddit will downvote you if you express your opinion. I remember saying once that Naruto fillers are terrible. I was downvoted four times in a row.

I have never posted a single post on reddit and only really visit the site when I google something and a reddit thread about the question pops up as one of the first results. I've disliked everything about how reddit works since as long as I can remember so I never had any desire to be active there on any subboard.
I probably regret this post by now.

I've pretty much given up on posting in r/anime due to inconsistent and confusing application of rules that resulted in a couple of my posts being taken down that were essentially the same sort of content as other posts that were allowed to stay up. I'll still post replies there from time to time. I'm also fairly active on a few other subreddits where I haven't encountered such problems.

I thought reddit was only good for hentai memes occasionally, otherwise reddit is what it is, a joke to use.

However in using MAL, conversations and good debates do happen from time to time.

Reddit has always lead to bad or useless misinformation.

MAL isn't great, but it's way easier to meet anime fans with the same interests if you know how to navigate it. That's a big part of why I'd prefer MAL. I already don't like the umbrella-like nature of the anime community that forces people who have no interests in this medium in common right under the same roof, making it a clusterfuck to navigate and find the right people to hang out with. We have clubs, profiles, et cetera, that streamline this. r/anime has pretty much nothing except the text they post and the thread they're posting in.

Better community experience, or at least a way more accessible better community experience. MAL wins. There's a lot to dislike about MAL, but they've got that baseline down far better than anything on reddit can offer.

Reddit can be absolutely hilarious when it's goofy as hell.

otherwise it's pretty much just hivemind echo chamber and only really worthwhile for popular series'

not like MAL is a saint by all means (especially popular series' can also be just as bad) but reddit is all about dem updotes
