| Not sure if a topic like this has been created o.o if so, feel free to delete lol... but in your opinion, what has to be the best thing about MAL? MAL is such a big community, and there's more that you can do besides just updating your anime list :] discuss~ and i'll add my opinion shortly~ |
| Above all else, for my list. It's a nice easy way to manage my collection in a simple format I can share with friends who may want to borrow anime from me. I'd like to customise the actual layout, but really have no patience for CSS. >.< Otherwise, the forums. As much as some people say these forums are bad, they're better than most other anime communities, and I enjoy my time here, and I appreciate the moderators for the work they do keeping this place relatively sane, yet not overly moderated to the point of killing all discussion entirely. The other stuff is just fluff. ^^ |

| Creating + Customizing my own list (your vote) Nothing beats keeping a record of everything I've seen/read, everything I plan to buy, their respective ratings and those I already own. Plus junk I dropped or put on hold... Also, being able to have a signature of recently watched anime is a nice solution to the "omg I'm so obsessed with anime I have an insatiable urge to discuss it with everything I find on the internet". Since I can live in peace with the fact that if other people are into anime and see my sig and really want to talk about it... they'll bring up the conversation. Also, as a forgetful person, the aforementioned record keeping abilities tell me exactly where I left off on things, otherwise I would /never/ be able to tell the difference :p I do have a lot of fun chatting on myanimelist related IRC channels, and some fun with the forums, as well. |

| Before I would have said clubs, forums, or even the IRC channel but now I've kind of died on participating in the community. There are a few branch channels with MAL users in them that I love though; the people in them are the kind of people I relate with easily. So my choice is other D: |

MAL is likely to grow a lot more yet, unless Xinil decides to shut it down, as happens with some other sites that can't handle the growth. =p I joined in late 07, and I'm member 20801, one of the latest members I can see in introductions is 69xxx so we're not even at 70k yet, but that's still more than triple more than when I joined. So yeah, people who were here in 06 and earlier 07 when the community was much smaller, may feel disenchanted by the growing community but that's to be expected. I've seen it countless times over the years. I don't know why some people are so vocal about it. Especially some of the people I've seen bitching about how much MAL sucks, yet still being 4chan lurkers. Talk about pot calling the kettle black. |

| I'm here mostly to keep track of the anime I watch. I love the list portion of this site, but the forum has some good people as well. |
| The Lists are very helpful. I can memorize which episode i did watch/read last. |
| The database. I like updating the database. No seriously. If I lost my staff position at this place I would disappear since 80% of the reason I still come onto the site is to update it. I'll give 10% for forums (mainly anime / manga discussion, like the individual episodes and stuff) and 10% for anything else. Not including the list feature which I would use no matter what even if I was not active in this community anymore. As I need that to be organised. Heh. I've had my list since 2004, if I suddenly lost it, I wouldn't know how to organise my anime watching anymore. O.o |
| what would MyAnimeList be without customizable anime lists? That aside, friendly community for the most part. Very nice people, easy to make friends, lots of discussion for virtually any new / ongoing series and a good database. |

| I'd say all off the above. The thing that reeled me in was being able to track what anime I've seen and what manga I own. But with time I discovered all these great little things that just makes it that more enjoyable and makes me come back for more. |
