Early premiere than usual broadcast time, 1-hour premiere.

Novelist Hiromu's series, since its anime announcement last August, has been one of the most anticipated works to come out in anime form for quite some time, in the same vein that series like the classic OreGairu and Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun a.k.a Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki, have already made their footsteps on.

The self-inflicted "manwhore/playboy" protagonist of Saku Chitose, along with his classmates of Yua Uchida, Yuuko Hiiragi, Kaito Asano, Kazuki Mizushino, Haru Aomi and Yuzuki Nanase, they're like the Super Peace Buster group of a close quarter clique that bonds together like glue. More than their homeroom teacher of Kuranosuke Iwanami tutoring them, and him needing someone who's outside of their circle, Kenta Yamazaki, to come back to school from being a shut-in for quite some time, the chosen class rep Chitose is dealt with do the unseen work by his teacher. That said, while both Yuzuki Nanase and Asuka Nishino have quite the similarities to Tomozaki-kun being Aoi Hinami and Fuuka Kikuchi, the latter that he met on an off-chance for a small conversation, her looks are just as beautiful as it comes towards Chitose, but in the realm of the bleakness of life, trying to find Kenta sure invokes a lot of thought.

As expected, Nanase can see something amiss within Chitose to speak out, and with him and Yua being on the job to seek Kenta out, the latter missing her band practice and the former just enjoying more than just her presence and her slim boob feel (which sure invokes quite the joke from Chitose), the two reach Kenta's place to try talking to him and his mother about the former's condition. And sure, his criticisms of Chitose being the playboy and Yua being part of his "harem" sure is Catch-22 on anger, but Kenta's ranting is clear and concise that his AniManga otaku hobbies that are not reciprocated by anyone, the two at least want to attempt meeting him on middle ground, though he shrugs it off with his bad attitude.

The next week, Chitose comes armed with Yuuko Hiiragi for another round of persuasion, though she has quite the waifu energy towards him. And Round 2 of the confrontation, Hiiragi tries with her light-heartedness, and at least it did help negate some of the negative energy, though when it's between men, Yamazaki's stuubornness would just not budge...until Chitose literally used his bat to smash through his window and give him a push to reach out.

Masterpiece series, translated into a great start. To fans of the LN, this split-cour series is already doing a lot justice to the source material.

The show is full of cringy characters and cringy phrases. It seems total opposite of Oregairu in a sense.

That was certainly an interesting start, the "harem"/team dynamic and characters are introduced well.
Can wait see how each member of the harem/team interactions with each other and what are their relations.

Cheesy inner monologue? Check. Generic, by the book waifus straight from the harem starter pack? Check. Annoying characters that make you want to mute the show? Big check. Oh right, it’s a harem LN adaptation, isn’t it. Honestly this might’ve been one of the hardest watches if not for the top-tier direction and visuals that, for now, feel completely wasted on this mess.

I don’t care if this is supposed to be the premise; it’s still just an excuse to fill the cast with the most bland, irritating leads possible. And that’s not even mentioning the most annoying one of them all, the protagonist, Chitose. They threw around about six or seven names in this episode, and I couldn’t tell you the first letter of any of them if my life depended on it. And really, you expect me to believe someone in this so called “popular crowd” doesn’t know what a simple word like floozy means? Come on. You can’t just chalk it up to “she’s naturally blonde” and call it a day. Be serious.

And speaking of that “popular” circle, no one in real life would willingly take a shut-in loser and parade him back to school like that. That kind of thing only happens in anime logic. So I genuinely have no clue if this show’s going for realism, parody, or something in between, because this premiere gives zero indication of what it wants to be. And that’s a problem, especially when it’s supposed to be 20 minutes longer than usual. Oh wait, no, that’s just a lie, 15 of those minutes are a voice actor celebration segment about how the show even got adapted. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it. So yeah, the actual episode’s just 30 minutes long. What a way to mislead your own fanbase into thinking they were getting a full length special.

Amazing stuff here truly, no really amazing indeed. I heard the start of this is terrible and that it gets better later on, but this start is beyond just terrible, I’m struggling to see how the stuff from here could make it better, but the directing here is too good to just drop, so we’ll keep on to see.

Pretty standard personalities displayed in the first episode, overweight otaku is depressed so lets put a radiant self aware popular douche on the case and see how it plays out. The introduction to the characters in the harem, they are all stereotypes. There probably is more to Chitose's character I'm guessing but in this episode he is basically Masamune-kun on crack.

The direction is really good and visually, everything looks great.
I'm not familiar with the source material at all but, I really hope something happens with the Saku character quickly. He is insufferably awful at the moment and it actually made the first episode quite difficult to enjoy for me.

I started to binge read the manga when I heard about this anime in hopes of it being similar to Yugami-kun has no friends (will sadly never get an anime unless a miracle happens) and Oregairu. I must say I really started to like Chitose-kun story, I'd say the harem part is unnecessary but kind of what makes Chitose himself. He could be a total lone wolf like Yugami or loner like Hachiman (Oregairu), but decides to actually be popular and in the most logical sense ever.

I'm a bit amazed how polar opposite the beginning is to Oregairu. Instead of one guy saying some poetic things, the whole group is - since it's their stance - logic here is that a loner would say it alone, popular kids would say it together. Not sure how many people would make the parallel here so I thought I'd try. For once we see things from another perspective. Consider it refreshing.

The animation production is really surprising in this one, beautiful. Will definitely be one of my must watches this season. The first story with the otaku boy will be a promising watch since MC comes out with really interesting ideas on how to fix situations! When I read some of the upper comments here, many of you are expecting and labeling before actually seeing the solutions, I recommend not to, as everything will make sense once you see it.

Don't sleep on it ;)

I don't have anything amazing to say like my friend @KANLen09.

BUUUT, damn did they say blue a lot in the intro :}
And this anime looks stunning and also sounds stunning thanks to the stacked cast of VA's they've got in this show!

Also, starting to feel old these days watching anime like this when I'm no longer in school or university...unc otaku status right here :{}
Still, this looks very fun and interesting so I'll be giving it a chance :}

6:30 is insane for a premiere time lmao. Good thing I just happened to be up as I checked Crunchyroll’s schedule. This is a bit of a sad day for me as Chiramune is one of my fave ongoing LNs and an all time great romance drama, so I’m sad it’s going to explode in popularity now after being niche so long 🥲 BUT, couldn’t ask for a better debut for one of my fave series. Studio FEEL nailed exactly what makes the series special. The girls, their relationships with Saku, how everyone looks to him as a bright beacon and for support, the banter, ah it’s all perfect.

If you’re someone that’s grown so tired of soft and lame romance MCs who act like they’ve never talked to a girl before and have no social skills or awareness, Saku is exactly what you’ve been looking for. Saku is THE guy in his friend group who everyone looks up to and it’s how he helps others thru their problems that makes this setup so special. People often compare this first volume to Tomozaki-kun and it def has some similarities, but it very much becomes its own thing later on.

Can’t believe best girl Asuka finally animated on my screen, she looks amazing and Anzai Chika is a great casting choice for her! Second best girl Nanase looks amazing too. They really did a great job showing you all the different types of relationships Saku has with the various girls and how they’re all vying for his affection. The fact he’s aware of it all and just not freaking out about being surrounded by so many beautiful girls who like him is such a breath of fresh air. Dude just wants to chill.

The ending scene of Saku breaking thru Kenta’s window was so fucking cool. Shows exactly why he’s such a great MC. Dude refuses to take no for an answer and has to see anything he takes on thru to fruition. He has inadvertently become this beacon of hope to people and although it’s not necessarily something he wants, he does take it seriously and wants to live up to people’s expectations of him. Can’t wait to see the rest of Kenta’s arc play out, but man that ED ED credits= chills. Great start here and if FEEL keep up what they’ve done here, we are going to be eating so good

I also love the post credits Fukui tour with the seiyuu because Fukui culture is a big part of the books and this allows them to focus on the story in the episodes, while highlighting local stuff afterwards. Best of both worlds.

I guess this is new? The main character is a hottie who belongs to the highest caste in class instead of a loser dork. Characters feel tropey (maybe because they are) and the way he introduces them is very cringy. Actually, the dialogues are either cringy or straight up unfunny.

Let's see where this goes.

Seems like a good start, this. Extended runtime, that’s always good to start off with. Got to make the first impression strong, after all.

So that sorry aunt was for breakin the darn glass open, lmao. It’s nice to see that he was able to see through his classmate’s tough facade.

Wasn’t expecting a live action promotion in the end though. The VAs nailed it when they said viewers might be surprised with this and not continuation with episode 2, and that’s exactly me, lol. I love seeing real life places references across Japan so I didn’t really mind it one bit, just a little surprised at first. Fukui dinosaurs and gluttonous food sets, I’m definitely going to check it out one day.

Wasn't expecting an extended premiere for this but great. The starting scene looked really good. I liked the dialogues there as well. The intro for the characters and their interactions were a bit cringe but rest of the episode was nice. For once the mc isn't a nobody and popular instead and is part of the king group. I like the white hair and black hair girls for now. The bit with the neet was pretty nice too actually. Decent start, not sure where this will be going but lets see.

I feel cheated that the episode was only 30 minutes long.
Anyway, I liked how many of the scenes were executed, but it would’ve been better if they had used the full 50 minutes, a lot was cut, and I also feel like much of it was toned down. The argument between Yuuko and Kenta is way more intense and shows how incredibly brutal she can be when she wants to, despite her innocent appearance. Many other parts were rushed or cut as well, but I think that was the main one.
Well, I hope things slow down a bit and that they show the full conversation between Kenta and Saku.
Btw, they dedicated special time and care to the Asuka scene lol

I know many people criticize and will keep criticizing this anime for having drama and lots of dialogue filled with subtlety and subtext, but for those who don’t want just any random romance or slice of life, this one is amazing (even if the adaptation might stumble a bit).

it looks like this is close to snafu? i didn't watch it but I'd like to

liked the vibes and the characters i feel it's gonna be a top 5 to 7 anime this season, we start off by seeing every character talking abt their dreams or something like that i didn't focus a lot, then we know our MC ( hero ) chitose saku who is a famous well known student in the high school and he is between 4 girls that i feel this ep and the next will try to introduce their personality bcs we saw yua who likes chitose but hide her emotions, and we see yuuko personality too who loves chitose and js tells him straight forward even tho he doesn't respond to her

and it looks like it has some philosophical depth in it, cuz u can focus on at least 5 to 7 sayings that doesn't have simple meanings instead u gotta focus to understand them

4 / 5 tbh & fair that's a great start and I'm interested sm in this

Of course, the next logical step to take when talking through the door doesn't work—walking through (what remains of) the window. I'm just curious what kind of slick talk Saku used to convince the dude's mom to let him end the premiere episode with a bang.

Can't help but find friendships (and potentially more) between students from different schools really cool. Not sure I want her to win yet but I definitely want way more of Asuka.

Well this was something, this anime gave me a really weird vibe about half way in I realised its because the school uniform plus the actual school is so similar to mine on a freakishly high degree it completely threw me off. Like holy hell that was weird.

But as for the actual show Im kinda surprised I hadn't heard anyone talking about this. Its actually fairly good.

The mc's a little weird but its kinda refreshing from your typical male mc. The girls are all generally fine nothing too special though I like Yuuko and Asuka quite a bit. Idk this show has like a really good vibe to it in a weird way.

An interesting fact about this one is how the LN writer is more involved than usual, witting the scrips.

So anything that gets moved, changed, added, cut or wtv was with him heavily involved.

LN Anime adaptations rarely get this lucky.

Wait, he broke the window to his room in order to get him out of there? And not by his choice?

So not only destruction of private property (I hope he is at least paying for the window), but also forcing the individual who does not want to interact with you to get out or else?

Just how many best girls do you need!?

A highly capable guy surrounded by highly capable friends, with such high ego and confidence, Chitose's reputation with both parties (those who admires him AND those that hates him) is quite something else.
Absolutely love all the girls so far, it was so interesting how open all of them are and how they interact with the MC. Asuka's scene definitely got me the most.
Oh and of course I like the MC too.

I actually thought Chitose will read those Light Novels so he can have something to talk with with the Otaku, but that guy just forced his way in lmao, now I see why he bought the baseball bat with him.

I did get a bit of similarities with Oregairu in this, like with Sensei and how Chitose seems to be the guy that help others, except he's the total opposite of Hachiman.

Seiyuu part at the end jumpscared me, but it was nice to see Ikumin and Rumirumi enjoying food and introduce places that will be in the Anime (maybe). Now I'd definitely keep watching those every episode lol.

Have only listened to Cidergirl (and Yurin) a few times but I really like the ED too!

This is kinda like Bottom tier character tomozaki but the person getting helped is not the mc... Mc's mentality is lil similar to Hikkigaya from oregairu but his social status is more like Rentaro from 100 girlfriends.

Anyways, that was a banger first episode! I love all the girls they introduced! I'm looking forward to each of their arcs to learn more about them as a character, how they fell in love with Saku, and their perspectives on life! I really love Saku as an MC! He is a man of culture lmfao, he's hilarious, love his vibe, his energy, his charisma, yeah he's very entertaining and looking forward to seeing what wacky things will happen! Yeah the music in this first episode was beautiful and a lot of the establishing shots was really cool! Loved the animation too! Yeah this was awesome! I'm hooked in and can't wait for the next episode.

Decent job introducing and ensemble cast and launching the story. More that many viewers, I like large cast of main and secondary charters with a variety of relationships.

Damn good harem for a high school setting. MY #1 so far is 'weird' girl Asuka for her personality, with bubbly gyaru Yuko, athlete Haru, and thoughtful Yua all being contenders.

Quite an entrance there at the end, Saku.

Wasn’t expecting a chunk of this to be live action, but hey I don’t mind it one bit, it reminded me a lot of the live action segments of “Let’s Make a Mug Too”, I really miss those. The episode itself was pretty good, many are mentioning Oregairu but I actually got Tomozaki-kun vibes myself, I don’t see a lick of Oregairu in this personally lol, but that aside, I did like it, the production is really nice and all the girls are cute, Asuka I think is my initial favorite but Yua and Yuzuki are hits with me as well, it’s just too early to say for sure who I like the most.

As for our MC Saku, he kinda annoyed me a bit but I imagine he’ll probably get better over time, as of rn tho he’s an absolute asshat lol, definitely not the person they should’ve sent to help the shut-in guy, but hey he did at least manage to get into the fellas’s room, not without causing property damage but he got in there lol. Although I can’t deny that was quite the impactful end to the first episode, regardless of how bad an idea that would be. Also, not sure if you can use the color blue for as many things as they did in the opening lines of the show lol, but with this being a LN adaptation, I’m sure there’s gonna be a lot of dialogue like that so it is what it is.

And no OP or ED yet, not sure which one we heard at the end but it was pretty good, looking forward to getting them next week hopefully.
