Miko and Shiori are at odds, and this rivalry could get heated very quickly...

I'm pretty impressed that this isn't your standard love triangle, but that involves a rather twisted backstory that goes back years, since Miko was watching over Hinako as a kid. With how Miko has her innate wanting for human flesh, I'm surprised Shiori has held herself back for so long, waiting for the perfect moment to devour Hinako. For now, I'm pretty firmly rooting for Miko, but I'm not sure there'll be a definite loser here, and I wonder what the endgame for this series will look like. I'm quite intrigued though for sure.

@Yhoto At what point in the show did you get the impression that Miko might be evil? You must be an astronaut or rocket engineer with the exceptional way your brain operates.

I like Miko, so I'm glad she was not killed. Well, I would like to know more if the decendants of the monk who captured her are still around. Anyway, not reading the manga until the anime is over.

Hinako now has two powerful youkai watching over her. I guess she's lucky? She would have got eaten by those things a long time ago if Miko had not guarded her. They just now need to cure her depression.

omg so if miko was the sun that was always there and kept hinako from sinking to the bottom of the sea, now that shiori, which is like the deepness of the sea itself, is there,,, hinako is presented with the choice she has always avoided

if she's the one who has to solve the conflict, she'll basically be choosing between dying with shiori or keeping on living whilst abandoning her biggest wish of "being eaten by the sea"

glad to see her having to be an active agent of her life, not just existing passively anymore

Miko's yokai identity exposed by Shiori is not a good sight, and it pretty much invalidates the childhood that Hinako had with this seemingly cheerful girl who promises to be by her side. That said, the battle between yokai as dastardly and heinous as this one does, pitting the psychology and time together for Miko who seemingly knows Hinako's family history from scratch, as the famed Okitsune.

The shrine which Hinako's family sent their prayers to, it's clearly to Miko as the protector of their land and the family's wishes, though she was never revered as a god all this while, and ultimately failed to honour her family's wishes from an accident. Still, Hinako honoured Miko's presence as the only friend who carried her all this way, even if she has to deceive her way to convince her so.

To eat, or not to eat, that's the question. What a well-done episode, along with the OST.

Who knew! A masochistic six-tailed fox yokai. Even Japanese demigods have psychological problems.
But seriously, who is the more admirable? A yokai that sadistically tells her victim what she plans or a yokai that holds back endless hunger to fulfill moral imperatives?

This was another great episode in terms of story, but the animation's limitations are really showing. For one, the fight between Miko and Shiori was lackluster to say the least; there was hardly any action, and Miko in kitsune form moves around awkwardly despite her chara-design being so cool. I also dislike the lack of tonal consistency that arises every time the characters turn chibi in serious scenes.

Other than that, I absolutely loved this installment. The truth behind Miko was very moving, especially considering that she knew Hinako's family, which is one thing I didn't expect. The fact that she's so old and yet behaves so childishly adds another layer to her character; is she consciously shaping her personality to be like that and fool those around her, or is this just how she is? I truly love her relationship with Miko!

And the music was once again beuatiful! The song that played toward the end was touching.

I can't stand Hinako's voice at all. It's not even the voice actors fault I just don't think the voice suits the character or maybe it's just the delivery. Whatever it is, it is just bad. Her dialogue is just ruining this show.

As for the episode I didn't really care for the conflict because

1. Shiori looks dumb because she believed that Hinako would actually let her kill Miko
2. Miko is also dumb because she could've told Hinako all of this last episode and spared us of a Tokyo Revengers like action scene
3. If this is indeed a Yuri then we are stuck in a love triangle
4. 5 episodes into this show and the plot is
MC wants to die, Best Friend wants to protect her, Random girl shows up and wants to kill her.
Best Friend and Randon Girl fight over MC

This show is like watching one of those seasonal romcoms with the awkward ugly dude MC having a harem with multiple women. It's just so generic.

Even if Miko really ends up consuming Hinako now, I’d still say she’s been a reaaally good friend for taking care of her for so long.
