their fault for not picking up the pace on the whole burying part of the operation
True, but can you really blame them? It's actually surprising they managed to do it in just one afternoon. I also want to the take the chance to address one thing: I've read some comments saying that they buried only half of the capsule, which is just not true
They did in fact bury all of it. A very sloppy job, that is true, but again, they're just two 10 years old and one dense alien. I repeat, it's surprising to me that they managed to do that in just one afternoon. Maybe they could have returned to the burial site, but what if someone saw them? They say a criminal always returns to the scene of the crime, so maybe they actually did the smart thing by never returning there.
Shizuka being the Aizen-tier manipulator she is doesn’t make her any better, but sure
It's not Shizuka being a master of dark psychology, but rather our boy Azuma being easily manipulable, which makes total sense! Not only he is 10 years old, but he also has evident self-esteem issues caused by an inferiority complex and constantly feeling overshadowed by his seemingly perfect brother. Add to that mommy issues, caused by his mom never rewarding him and showing proper affection, and you get a 10 year old that would do anything in exchange of approval. In other words, a person that would even turn himself in for something completely unrelated to him, just for some affection that he deeply lacks in his life. A person stupidly easy to manipulate for women.
Shizuka just so happened to meet all the criteria. To Azuma, she reminds him of his own mother (they share an identical facial feature), and is a female herself. When she shows him affection, Azuma gets his fix of love that his mother never gives him. It's not just a crush, it's a way for Azuma to feel approved and loved. Even if he doesn't realize it, Shizuka is filling in for his mother. Azuma also craves approval really badly, so he lets Shizuka walk all over him, to extreme lengths.
So, yeah...
...He strikes again...
As for Shizuka's sociopathic tendencies, I think it makes complete sense too. You can't expect someone who is living that life to not be messed up in the head.
@JustDefending
Shizuka’s character development doesn’t make any sense. Unless I’m missing something, it does not.
I wouldn't say you missed something, but you have to be a bit more understanding. See what I wrote above regarding Shizuka. LMK if you want me to elaborate.
Azuma mother, again and again, they bring her up in the most dramatic way possible. Stop yelling at us to cry.
We are seeing her from Azuma's POV. It's not her character that is dramatic, but the situations she's in, and to Azuma, it's a very dramatic situation. No matter how hard he tries, he never gets her approval. That takes a big toll on his mental health. He feels like he is a big, huge disappointment to the family. Every confrontation with his mother makes him believe even more in that, to the point where he develops a fear of confrontation (his glasses aren't good anymore, but he's scared to bring that up to his mother)
I was hoping that when Shizuka told Azuma to turn himself in, that would be the moment everything built up with Takopii would finally shine.
I was expecting him to speak out, defend Azuma and confront Shizuka that she was in the wrong.
Give him time. You can't expect those changes to happen almost overnight, especially from someone like Takopii.
@Marinate1016
I'm surprised that you're enjoying this show, despite missing the obvious point it's trying to make.
