Truly nothing but their fault for not picking up the pace on the whole burying part of the operation, which was literally the most important part, if anything... but yeah, gotta keep the plot moving. And this fucker Takopii, having the nerve to say he wants to “do something” about the whole thing. Dude, you’ve done PLENTY, I can assure you. Nearly gaslit Azuma into turning himself in, of all things. I mean, Shizuka being the Aizen-tier manipulator she is doesn’t make her any better, but sure.

Anyway, stupid plot aside, my GOD THIS EPISODE LOOKED FUCKING AMAZING. HOLY. SHIT. Easily tied with episode one, if not better. Honestly, just in terms of consistency, I’d say it is better. They nailed Azuma’s whole descent, his slow spiral into madness and despair. That scene with him and his mom looked absolutely insane and amazing. Oh, but I guess what isn’t amazing is the fact that Shizuka now gives like, zero fuckkkkks about Azuma. Straight-up told him to turn himself in... LOLL.

Oh, but at least he got a kiss and some reassurance, right?
No.
No.
SHIZUKA IS DEADASS AIZEN LEVELS, I SWEAR.

And fuck Azuma's mom, nothing new there. It was his brother who finally snapped him out of it in the end, and that sequence was yet again, AMAZINGLY FUCKING ANIMATED. HOLY. SHIT.

Ohhh but I mean... yeah, none of that really changes the fact that um, AZUMA IS GONE BRO. It's all up to Takopii and Shizuka now. Off to Tokyo they go!

I'm going to start with the positive. Outstanding visual execution, the mise en scene, the composition, everything was perfect.

The problem, the foundation of the story is shackled to the over the top melodrama and narrative whiplash from previous eps.
Azuma mother, again and again, they bring her up in the most dramatic way possible. Stop yelling at us to cry.
Also in the end scene of ep 3, Takopii finally understood the weight of his actions, and started to question himself.
I was hoping that when Shizuka told Azuma to turn himself in, that would be the moment everything built up with Takopii would finally shine.
I was expecting him to speak out, defend Azuma and confront Shizuka that she was in the wrong.
But nothing... The whole ep nothing... he did try a bit at the start and the end but this leads to nothing.
Also, Shizuka’s character development doesn’t make any sense. Unless I’m missing something, it does not.

Animation- 10/10

Ah, Shizuka manipulative behavior vividly manifests, she needs more time and she needs a scapegoat, it's Azuma turns on the chopping block.

Thankfully the power of brotherly love saved Azuma from making life changing decisions, good for him, but not for Shizuka. Her manipulation tactics failed and now the only option is strategic retreat, to Tokyo.

When reading the manga, I expected the handing over the camera scene and asking Azuma to turn himself in to have been a final scene in an episode as it did hit me hard when I read it. Having it where they had it did take away some of its impact for me, but I guess it was nice to have an episode finish with a relative glimmer of positivity for once.

Two episodes left and things are really going to pick up now. Let's go.

Wow, so the mother tried her best to improve her cooking skills out of love and caring for her kids yet didn't even (try to) see or understand how much effort her second child put into studying heh? Talking about random plot point and emotional spoon-feeding lmao

Arguably the best directed episode of the year oh my God, what have I just witnessed?? Artistry of the highest order. Congrats to everyone involved in the production of this series because your name’s going in history. Absolutely incredible storyboarding and animation today to heighten those emotional moments and illustrate just how broken Azuma truly is.

Still, I fucking love Shizuka’s villain arc and support her. She deserves revenge on this cruel world, BUT doing it at the expense of my boy Azuma and trying to throw him under the bus is CRAZY. Most toxic and unhealthy love story I’ve ever seen 😭 for a girl who’s basically interacted with no one besides her dog since she got to school, she is surprisingly adept at emotional manipulation and gaslighting. It’s insane how much she knows Azuma looks up to her and how he has a mommy complex for her.. I guess all that abuse she suffered just made her constantly strategise and think about what her revenge would look like, but damn this is wild.

The way my jaw dropped when she asked him to turn himself in for her, I couldn’t believe it. “I’ll be here for you after juvie” like bro what.. the fact he was legit going to do it too after his grades started slipping because of his focus on this and his mom being a POS.. thank GOD his brother is legit one of the best big brothers you could ask for and talked him out of it. He’s probably the only healthy family member relationship in this series actually.

Presumably Azuma’s involvement made the mom close up the clinic? Deserved honestly she was an absentee mother and horrible person so maybe losing money will make her reflect on her actions and grow. Hopefully Junya will have told her off too now that Azuma has said everything that’s weighing on him. But what’re Takopi and Shizuka going to get up to in Tokyo? I still feel like the only way this ends is with Takopi redoing things and helping Shizuka and Marina become friends and understand one another. Things might get quite a bit darker before then tho.

This anime is a competition to see who has the worst parents... Azuma had 95/100 but she treat him like he didn't have the average, it really pissed me off. How deranged can you be to look down on a child who is so brilliant?
It was a really poignant episode. Shizuka is really terrifying everyone is losing their minds but she is living her best life as if nothing had happened, and she doesn't even hesitate to sacrifice her ally lol. She is really deranged, the bullying she suffered really made her lose her mind.

Man, Azuma's mom absolutely sucks; And her way of manipulating is so toxic. Azuma just trying to reach his mom's expectations while his brother is always exceeding them like nothing hurt to watch, and I can totally relate to wanting academic validation, but never recieving it. Azuma's feelings are so real it hurts.

I'm genuinely so scared for the next episode. It's gonna take way more than a miracle for Azuma's situation to be fixed- There is no way there is going to be a happy end after all of this, but I'm still hoping. 5/5.

Yet another amazing episode.

Now that the police know about Marina's death, Shizuka and Azuma are on thin ice now. And of course Takopi comes in and says, "OH, lets just tell the truth. People will understand." NO, ARE YOU STUPID TAKOPI? LIKE DAMN. Anyways, the rest of the episode after that mainly focused on Azuma and damn it got emotional. All he was trying to do was be as good as his brother when it comes to, well, tests. But he didn't end up being like his brother and which that STUPID ASS MOM OF HIS KEPT GATEKEEPING THE DAMN PANCAKES. LIKE, GIVE THEM TO HIM, HES TRYING HIS HARDEST TO BE LIKE YOUR SON AND YOURE JUST, "haha, nope. YOU didn't get a 100% on your test therefore you can't have these "scrumptious" pancakes." LIKE DAMN, SHE PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH AND NOW SHE DOESNT CARE ABOUT WHAT AZUMA DOES ANYMORE? Anyways, Junya is such and I mean such a good brother to Azuma and that ending sequence with them was so emotional and so well animated. I love Junya, wish I had a brother like him. Looks like Azuma turned himself in, what's that manipulative Shizuka gonna do now, huh?

This episode was shorter than usual. But the visuals were still 10/10. Maybe even better than the last episodes. The first-person scenes were just amazing. I'm guessing this show had the budget for a 1-cour anime despite having only 6 episodes. That'd explain how they could focus so much on making each scene perfect. It was probably in development for years too.

An Azuma-focused episode. Makes sense as a follow-up from the last episode. I feel so bad about him. Poor kid got manipulated into doing so many shitty things. I'm starting not like Kuze anymore. Tho I can't really blame her that much either. Poor kid's practically insane after having such a fucked up childhood. And she's probably going to be arrested as Marina's murderer anyway even tho Takopi did her in.

Azuma's mom giving up on him and telling him she doesn't care anymore and he can do whatever he wants hits so hard. The parents are the real villains in this series. If only Azuma wasn't such a good kid. If he just told his mom to fuck off and did whatever he wanted from the start he could've avoided all this suffering. But it's never really that easy, is it?

Thankfully, Junya saved him from ruining his life. He's not just a model child. He's actually a great big brother. I'm so glad. Tho him saying he was bad at Monster Hunter as if it's a big character flaw was funny. Could've picked a better example lol.

Guess Shizuka and Takopi are on their own now. Wonder how they'd react to reality hitting them when they go to Tokyo.

For all the animation and visual SB/directing power they really put into this episode with much passion and soul into, I give much props from purely a technical standpoint.
Alas, in terms of the storytelling, though, I knew this was gonna really drop off towards the deep end at some point. It's kinda crazy in a commendable way with how the production quality has really bolstered this adaptation up til now, and probably might still do so even after this, but with how perplexing the plot direction has gotten, I question if that'll last.

Aaaahhhh!!! This anime… Oh my God… This is the episode of the year for me! A true masterpiece — in terms of story, writing, directing, visuals, artistic expression, music… aaahhhh what else can I even say! I’m speechless!

Last episode, I said I wouldn’t talk about Azuma… Not yet, let’s wait to learn more about his identity, his story, and so on! But now I think it’s time to dive deep into Azuma’s character too!

He’s such a dedicated and hardworking person — he just needs emotional support. And where did he find it? From Shizuka! Not because she actually supports him, but because he *thinks* she does! And Azuma, my friend, there’s a famous Arabic saying I want to share with you: “Some love can be deadly.” Hahaha it really applies here!

As for Azuma’s story — it’s incredibly realistic. I personally went through something similar… Not the same level of drama, and my parents aren’t like that either, maybe just 1% of it. But actually, I’m the older brother — the one carrying all the expectations. I even got into med school and will be graduating next year! Believe me, it’s a huge psychological burden. Any failure, any mistake, even the smallest slip-up, puts you under scrutiny. You’ll hear hurtful words from people you *hoped* would support you. You’ll get into conflicts and clashes… Even if you’re top of the country. Eventually, you might rebel! (Okay, I’m just joking about the last part haha.)

In short, Azuma just needs emotional support — and he’ll become the genius of his era. As for his brother Junya… I honestly think he’s a cheater hahaha. I mean, if he failed at *Monster Hunter*, how can anyone expect him to score 100% on a test? That’s just madness…

Wait wait wait!! At the end of the episode, Shizuka put the hat on Takopi!!! Is this the Will of One Piece?! Hahaha? I felt like I was seeing *Luffy*, not *Takopi*…

Anyway, I laughed when they put a flower on Marin’s desk hahahahahahahaha — they’re mourning her, but honestly it’s kind of funny.

Thank you for this incredible work! The joy is indescribable!

I’ll leave you with some frames! Enjoy, and see you next week for the next episode! Goodbye!

That brother confession is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen out of an anime. It looks like it was ripped out from my real life experience and they managed to reenact in exact detail here. Having a little brother that struggles to be better and seeing this was just beautiful, almost shed a tear watching this.

also best episode so far. my respect for Shizuka lowers everyday, but HOLY Azuma's mom is NOT FAIR. 95 and a disappointment, tf? but I don't care how stupid this is and how nonsensical the plot is, this episode was amazing. I lost my respect for the first episode because of how bad Shizuka is acting, I'm starting to hate her. her gaslighting ability on Azuma got him to turn himself in, but good thing someone who doesn't just care about himself stepped in to give Azuma some encouragement. Shizuka was straight evil for hugging and kissing Azuma before sending him to juvenile. oh and the animation on this one was superb, 10/10 I only saw better animation in Mob Psycho and anything MAPPA made

Junya absolute GOAT. Perfect big brother, perfect guy, he deserves everything , so do poor Azuma. It's refreshing to see finally a good healthy relationship for once.

I loved this scene so much. In a show all about negativity it's good to get some positivity. Junya saved Azuma from the brink. Best episode by farrrrr.....

I knew this anime follows shitty parents formula and their mother was horrible but man this is too much. Sad thing is it's not very unrealistic as well. Brutality is bit exaggerated but people like these so exist. Upset over not getting full marks, not giving snakes but having problem when your son wears glasses is beyond fucked up. Some people just don't have the right to become mother/father.

I have nothing to say for Shizuka she tried to use Azuma now gets what she sowed. I hope she "magically" gets away, but probably won't.
The fact Azuma had crush on he because she had similar looks to her mother who avoided it so he was prepared to give everything for her. So messed up. Thanks Junya.

Well... We're going to Tokyo, somehow.

Even the cops already know "who did it" at this point, but Shizuka, in all her degeneracy, is floating. She's in her bubble now, since her "main problem" is indeed gone.

I know I didn't want my Fridays to be this depressing, but I still watch the series. It looks pretty good, considering the somber atmosphere it has.

The best part? Not all adults are dumb. There's Junya, a proper one, saving his bro. Funny how inexperienced Azuma is, that he was convinced to change his life for Shizuka because of a little kiss. It's like the knowledge we got from someone like Kazuma didn't work at all!! (for that time in Konosuba on which he didn't accept Darkness' little kiss)

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Why are so many people here hating so hard on Takopii? It's basically the most essential part of the story that Takopii is absolutely oblivious to all the pain and suffering of humans because he only knows happiness and joy.

And yet people here are judging him like he's responsible for everything. Those who really fucked up are all the parents and not some dorky alien who just wants others to be happy.

TakoPEAK has another amazing episode!!

The police found out about Marina's death, and it's really weighing on Azuma because he's just a little boy. It's not weighing on Shizuka, though, because all she cares about it getting back to Chappy.

Let's get the obvious out of the way, the animation is fucking amazing. They went SO hard with it this episode it's unreal. The directing of it is amazing, too.

Shizuka's development is really interesting, manipulating Azuma to keep helping her. Throughout the series so far, Shizuka has only cared about people who help her get back with Chappy, which she said to be the only good thing about her life. This is shown best with Takopi. At first, she doesn't give a single shit about him, but when he kills Marina, she is overjoyed, thinking that she can now get back with Chappy with her out of the way. She also has no reaction to the police finding out about the death or interrogating her because all she cares about is getting back with Chappy. She's even willing to manipulate Azuma to get back with this canine. My point is, despite being a victim of extreme and cruel bullying, she isn't a good person herself, which I really like.

The main focus of this episode is Naoki Azuma. He has a huge inferiority complex towards his brother, Junya. This inferiority complex was the result of his mother constantly comparing him to Junya and constantly belittling Naoki's accomplishments. Hell, she kept away pancakes from him being like, "If you get a better grade than your brother, you can have these scrumptious panacakes." However, after Naoki fails a test because of his guilt from his involvement in Marina's death, his mom thinks that he did this to get her attention and she says that she will no longer care about his grades, giving up on him. This understandably makes Naoki devastated, but Shizuka shows up and is like, "You have me." This makes Naoki fully devoted to her, not wanting her to give up on him like his mother did. However, she then asks for him to turn himself in her place because she wants to see that damn dog so badly. He has a little flashback and it's revealed that he does everything Shizuka says because she looks like his mom, projecting his mom onto her and getting the praise that he never got from his mother from Shizuka. Naoki is about to turn himself in, but Junya then comes and is like "whats wrong bro". After a few flashbacks, Naoki says that he has no one (except Shizuka). Junya then, with amazing animation, yells at him that he has him and that he loves him. I really like how Junya doesn't think he's better than Naoki, him just being a genuinely good dude.

Anyways, at the end of the episode, Shizuka and Takopi are ready to head to Tokyo to see that fucking dog, so we'll see what happens next week!!

Animation- 10/10
story- 5/10
@JustDefending damn. this has to be the most nothing opinion I've read in the episodes reviews section yet. like wtf dude ?
so you hoped that takopi would do a 180 degree change ? no buddy, this only happens in your mediocre stories. not in my peak takopi.
judging by the quality of the series. takopi would take time until he realizes how far shizuka's psyche was damaged.

I don't think shizuka had any character growth. which is perfect. we are exploring how she will react in situations and it is all masterful

story is a 10/10

@Marinate1016 No, that is exactly what Marina did. Shizuka and Marina are the same shit.
