| Hmm... that was a great ending! I still liked the first season a lot more---this past arc just felt all over the place and poorly written. Didn't feel connected to the characters and had my immersion broken a surprising number of times. I don't think the admittedly-wonderful finale saves this season or anything, but I'm glad we left on a high note. |

@LordCrueltyV It was her way of returning it, sooner or later that hair pin will come back to Jinshi (this is royal hair pin after all), it was the only way for her to live and try to return it. And since she has to flee it was her last chance to return it.

| Maomao didn't already know that the children weren't really dead? You're smarter than this, girl... I'm glad Jinshi and Maomao seem to be growing even closer. That bite was a little weird, but really enjoyed the "I have something to tell you" / "okay, go ahead?" exchange. The season kinda suffered by keeping those two apart for like half of its runtime with no good replacement. Still, it's been a decent season. There's still really nothing like it airing these days. |
| It has been a wonderful journey watching this anime. I already loved the first season, but this one, in my opinion, has completely surpassed it. It has been a fantastic ending, having bittersweet and emotional moments. The good news is that, as expected, the children didn't die, they just took the elixir of resurrection. And the promise made by Jinshi and Shisui was fulfilled: the children were protected, as well as Suirei, and they will have a good life with Ah-Dou's help. XIAOLANANNNNNNNNNNN 😭💔 Although she found a good job and we know she is happy, I couldn't help crying, just like Maomao when she read her letter. The beautiful friendship between Maomao, Xiaolan and Shisui has come to an end. Even though Shisui is still alive and Xiaolan went to another job, this felt less like a "see you later" and more like a "goodbye forever". It really broke me.... I'm really going to miss watching them have fun together. It was a wonderful season, and with a sequel already confirmed, I'm so relieved. Especially since Jinshi is so hot now that Maomao knows who she really is. Fingers crossed that the new season won't be too long in coming. |

@iluvmozu i think it's either shisui may have lost her memories after the fall and that's why she doesn't remember the hairpin's worth (she did mention to maomao before it's a bit one of a kind & she may sell it) OR she did that intentionally hoping it'd someday be a sign that reaches maomao that she's still alive. i sure hope it's the latter actually i want them reunited with xiaolan at some point again :( i cried during her letter too
| @malice505 That would be really unfortunate if that's the case but if it isn't, I also don't want to believe she was being malicious by selling it although it still sucks. My girly Xiaolan deserves to know what happened considering how much she loved both of them, I'm glad she's doing better though. |

| Yep, this is what PEAK looks like, people!!! Honestly, I never imagined myself getting so invested in this series. I'm so glad I gave it a go. The way they tied up all the loose ends in the finale was amazing! The kids are alive and well (well... mostly, to say the least, I feel bad for Kyou-u. Not only did he lose his memories, but he's now partly paralyzed) and they've been adopted by former concubine Ah-duo. Jinshi somehow managed to stay in his position after everything that transpired in the last four episodes. Maomao is back at it again with her poisons in the pleasure district, and most important of all... Shisui IS ALIVE!!! I knew she cooked something up to escape the empire. She's got the intellect and the drive to do anything she puts her mind to. Now I'm sad that we won't get to see the trio of Maomao, Xiaolan, and Shisui anymore, hopefully we get to see them furhter down the line. But also I'm glad Xiaolan is doing well and working outside the palace, and I really want to know where Shisui is headed next! She did say she was going west, so I'm assuming Europe? It’d be wild if she somehow got involved with those blond princesses later on in the story. The only thing I didn’t understand was, why did Maomao return to the pleasure district? Didn’t Jinshi “buy” her as his servant, so to speak, and then have her work for concubine Gyokuyou? But then again, it was mentioned in the official palace statement that Shisui and Maomao were transferred elsewhere. Can anyone explain or clarify this for me? Either way amazing season and I can't wait for another!! (By the way it has been confirmed that a sequel is in the works, so hopefully we won't have to wait long for S3) I guess we are at a point where now we have passed the manga? Can anyone confirm this? If so, damn I need to start reading the LN. I need my weekly dose of detective maomao and Love struck Jinshi!!! |

| Beautiful finish to this season ❤️✨ Jinshi's attempt to kiss Maomao ends in futile again and again 😄😄😅 That bite was really something lol But nothing fazes Maomao. Jinshi using Maomao as a lap pillow was so cute 💖💖 Xiaolan didn't even get to say goodbye to her friends 💔💔.. I hope she gets to live a happier life and meet Maomao someday. Glad the kids survived and Suirei gets to live. It's bad that Kyou lost his memories but it's better that he doesn't have to live with those bad memories of his past. Seeing Loulan alive was so comforting. I hope she continues to live the life she wants from now on.. Already season 3 got announced..so excited |

I think Shisui lost her memories -- some might think she is pretending to be another person but I don't think so because if that was the case she wouldn't have traded the hair pin

| @UaEfAlCoN83 Trading the airpin is so that it can go back to its owner. It was already stated by Shisui herself that that airpin is so peculiar that it would probably catch too much attention on the market and end up returning to its original owner (IE, Jinshi), that was why Maomao originally discarded the idea of selling it. Also, Shisui didn't take that drug (she would have definitely died in the snow if she did), she has no logically reason to have lost her memories. |

Intimate moments between maomao and jinshi feel awkward and I’m never a fan of them because of how maomao isn’t showing interest and jinshi seems like he doesn’t want to ask before starting. Something needs to change there for that aspect of the show to be likeable. It’s been my only (I don’t want to say complaint, the show is good) complaint

It feels like it's portrayed as something the viewers are supposed to root for, but it's just so obviously not something Maomao wants, so it feels just as uncomfortable for us as it seems to feel for Maomao. I'm usually a big hater for interrupted kiss scenes, but for this show I'll make an exception. Please never let Jinshi's creepy ass behavior be rewarded |
| Shisui lives! Nice. Although it seems not even Maomao will meet her, but once details about hairpin eventually reach her, she'll figure 2+2 out. Damn Jinshi was THIRSTYYYY! Annoying F-ing interruptions though. Sequel announced for total happiness. |

| Best girl lives! Please dont tell me the little shit will show up in future seasons?! The rear palace politics were my favourite part about this show, so Maomao leaving is a clear downgrade to me.. I dont know how to feel about the romance here, this is very popular with women in japan right? So the "say no a dozen times until it means yes" thing is on purpose? Somehow I took two seasons to notice, but this is yet another "male love interest is a prince" settings |

| Will the adventures of Maomao and Jinshi continue? I wouldn't mind it, not one little bit. But they certainly seemed to tie everything up in a nice little package this episode, so I am afraid we have seen the end of our intrepid duo. |

| And thus another incredible season of The Apothecary Diaries comes to an end. If S1 was a 10/10, then S2 is an 11/10. The intrigue just kept building up with every episode and every plot point was resolved perfectly. P.S. Shisui lives! But she betrayed Maomao by selling off Jinshi's hairpin... |
