It was nice that we got to see things from Hina's POV. Ah the bonfire events a staple of camps. Nice to see Hina be more pro active as well. If anything Taiki should had waited until much later to give his answer. Can't wait to see how this ends next week.

Hina keeps telling herself she can wait for Taiki's answer. Just seeing Taiki look Chinatsu stings for her, though. Oh, she spotted them coming back late together!

Ayame sees their interaction, thinking how nice it would be, but Kyo doesn't seem her as some expert behaviour since all her relationships are brief, this ticks her off. I can't unhear Suletta when Ayame speaks lol

She keeps remembering what Kyo said and decides to use Taiki forgetting something in the gym to get Hina alone with him.

Taiki was mature enough to say that, a weight had been lifted off his shoulders, no longer having to be distracted by Hina, he could pursue Chinatsu properly. Hina kept saying she'd wait for him to change his mind but when he feels pressured to give an actual answer it's too painful for Hina to hear it.

The insert song really added to the scene.

The Hina-centric ED hits different after this episode.

After that finale, the ED hits different. I haven't read the source material, but when they chose that song for the second cour I knew Hina was going to suffer.
I don't think I'll be able to listen to that song again without seeing an inconsolable Hina cry like she did here.

As someone who's not really into Romance drama stuff, I very rarely sympathize with the losing end of a love triangle. But man, I'm really feeling bad for Hina Chouno.
She's been handling the entire one-sided-love situation so maturely, open-mindedly, and considerately that it's quite sad to see that while she had an idea as to what Taiki's answer would be to her confession of love, she's still far from prepared to actually hear it.

I appreciate the existence of Chiinatsu's character now; She's not necessarily a leading lady that the third wheel is competing against, but the embodiment of a very strong special admiration of someone- in this case, Taiki's- towards something that would often overcome even the more senseful, logical, and flawless feelings towards another.
Simply put, Hina wasn't a wrong choice for Taiki-- he just has his heart already solidly set towards Chiinatsu.

I also appreciate Taiki being honest about his own position as well. Aside from his concern of hurting Hina by keeping her hopes up even with him already knowing he's in love with Chiinatsu, he also admitted that he can't approach his feelings towards Chiinatsu as honest as he could while being considerate of Hina.

Looking at the story this way instead of 'Chiinatsu vs Hina' makes me appreciate this show so much more.

Penultimate episode of the series. Hina's emotions are all over the place on her affections for Taiki. Somehow Ayame manages to makes a chance for Hina to be with Taiki on the last night of the training camp. It can only lead to some tears.

It's true that Hina already knew about Taiki's feelings, but it's pretty sad anyway.

Chinatsu is very cute and nice. However, I prefer Hina: her look, her smile, her personality... she's so adorable and interesting, and she's strong and weak at the same time.

I've seen animes doing a way better job at emotional manipulation than this ...

The whole beginning was clearly just made so that you get feelings for her and root for her, but we could see it come 100000 MILES away

I hate being taken for a fool and having this happen in front of me expecting me to bite when it's so obvious. Dropped a point more because of that ...

Hina literally has the best personality, the most mature, the most calm and not manipulative, she just likes him. And we have dummy Taiki that likes a girl with the personality of a wet cardboard, which is somehow dry. She's as mature as a kindergarden girl and somehow Taiki fell for her and not the more emotionnaly mature one, but the show makes it look like Hina has a single chance ...

Show doesn't have much in regards of sports either so I'm wondering what's the point here
@Atylgan 'wet cardboard, which is somehow dry' that was perfect

@OtakuKun1 those are in Hina too. Plus Taiki initially liked Chinatsu purely based on looks. Also Hina is taiki's best friend. In real life, the one who knows you like hell is your best friend. If you have feelings for each other, you will live an amazing life.

You’re right, but I just don’t like Hina. I didn’t liked her from the beginning, because I think she’s a bit annoying and stole the opportunity for Taiki to spend even more time with Chii.

I understand that Hina is Taiki’s best friend, but I wouldn’t see further than that between them. With Chii is a different situation and I really believe Taiki should confess to her.

This might be my new favorite episode of the season. Genuinely sad to watch Hina get rejected but at the same time Taiki had to make his decision and keep giving her false hope. I even like how she tries get him stop but he knows it isn't good for either of them to keep their dynamic as is when he knows he likes Chinatsu.

I generally found Hina to have more chemistry with Taiki and largely more enjoyable to follow, so it says alot that I think the series conveyed very compellingly that she SHOULDNT be the one to win and make it one of the more memorable parts of the show. Hina works because shes the losing heroine and the melancholy of that makes the plotline work, this rejection was deeply satisfying and probably the highlight of the show, I felt horrible for her. Though i think the strength of the show as a whole is how this love triangle in general makes me feel bad for everyone. Hina cause she realized too late and kind of forced her way into the spotlight even knowing Taiki's feelings, I feel bad for Chi cause she basically spends the entirety of her realizing her feelings conflicted and thinking shes getting in the way of Taiki and Hina's percieved romance, and Taiki just got such a shitty deal cause he basically got a super lucky break with the girl he liked and was advancing in badminton only to pretty much be forced to be the bad guy to one of his best friends.

I strongly dislike love triangles cause almost always it just feels like hinderances to progression or tailor made to make you hate 1 of the people involved, or worse deflate the entire show if you like the losing person more. This show pulled off a herculean task with making me think its as good as it is I should be hating this. Its mature, it weaponizes the melancholy of the event, and makes a pretty damn great case for why Hina regardless of ones personal thoughts on her really isn't the one.

@animelovenow I love the idea of defining Chi as autistic when she is one of the most normal characters you can be She's a sociable teenager that goes to events with friends and takes basketball seriously with a proper work life balance for it.

The rejection turned out to be more brutal than I would've imagined but I understand that it had to be done. Hina did have a point when she said that Chinatsu doesn't appear to like him like she does but that doesn't matter since Taiki doesn't see Hina like how she sees him /sigh. Ngl when I first started watching this I thought Hina was the main love interest but part way through I realized it was actually Chinatsu even though I prefer Hina. Anyways, hopefully the finale will show Hina start to recover...

I mean, she acted out of jealousy and decided to insert herself into this after seeing that Taiki was making progress himself. It was annoying watching Taiki let it drag out for so long in the first place and it wasn't fair to Hina that he didn't draw a line from the start, but she also decided to sit in the cuck chair while using their friendship as some sort of emotional leverage. It felt like manipulation at times tbh. It was just a mess allaround. I'm glad it's finally over.

Really liked this episode. If Taiki had just let her walk away, I woulda been pretty upset, but he handled it very well. There's not much else he could say either. Like "you're one of my best friends but it's not gonna work" kinda thing won't help much either. Might just make her feel worse. They realistically need a lot of time apart at this point because there's no way a normal friendship can continue after that. Now with only one episode left are they still gonna beat around the bush with the Chinatsu thing despite them both liking each other at this point... probably. Idk how long this manga is, but it could be the kinda thing that drags forever and then ends 1 chapter after they go out.

Oh dear, poor Hina but it's better to set things straight and draw the line as soon as possible rather than letting Hina chasing for so long after someone which only sees her as friend from the beginning, especially when that person already likes someone else.

It must hurt for Hina, but with this she could move on as early as possible and find another love.

Please somebody tell me anything about Chinatsu's personality which is not "she's kind" or "she perseveres in her sport", two things that Hina does as well.

I don't get it. Taiki was so amazed at the kindness of Chinatsu during the previous episode that he doubles down on his love for her. Put Hina in that situation instead of Chinatsu and tell me how it would have been different.

Alright, Taiki has the hots for Chinatsu and I don't have to get it. But I'm also not gonna root for anyone else in this show - not bland Taiki, not bland Chinatsu.

Holy crap, did this entire show make me upset.
