I never watched the first adaptation of this chapter but this seemed rather succinct and empty.

3/5

@lelouch0102 He was raised (and found) by the man you saw in both episodes, he gave him his prosthetics.

Pretty good episode.

The fight scene wasn't that special and it was obvious from the start that the chieftain was the demon.

Still don't understand what Hyakkimaru gained after killing her, his veins? Nerves?

They've made Hyakkimaru quite vulnerable in this version.

In the manga he could talk to Dororo via ~his mind~ which was weird but fit in with the mid-century pulpiness of it all. In fact it's very different so far but I actually don't mind.

This is definitely gonna be a contender for one of the best shows of the year if it continues to keep this up for a whole two-cour.

I don't have any experience with this franchise apart from this anime, but I am loving it. By the sounds of this thread there are a few adaptations across various media platforms...does anyone think I need to try the manga or movie for instance to provide more context or is this all stand-alone?
Can I offer you an egg is this trying time?

Damn, I love these old-schooled anime with this kind of vibes. I love also the characters, especially Hyakkimaru. Can't wait for 3rd episode. Guess I'm going to watch the old, too.

Oh man, they should just do two episodes per week *-*
Probably going to check out the movie and the manga if I can.

Do you guys know how many episodes they are planning? It seems the kinda of anime to get a two cour, but I wouldn't know.

Also loving the opening now lol

I'm just worried that if Hyakkimaru regains his sight/senses, he'll lose the soul sight.

Dororo's a boy, something the manga even makes sure to clear up at one point.

I didn't feel the first episode too much but I really liked this one. Something about Dororo constantly talking to Hyakkimaru even though he can't hear is very endearing.

Another great episode!

We learn that Hyakkimaru may be blind but he can see the color of ones soul, letting him know if they are a threat or not. This is how he knows when demons are around.

The blind man is pretty cool as well. He definitely seemed to help Dororo understand Hyakkimaru a bit more.

Those villagers were pretty trash. They kept luring in travelers and feeding them to a demon because it got them money. Of course, Hyakkimaru took care of this demon and the episode ends with him getting something else back. I guess it was something to do with his nervous system?

I think that this episode was better than the first.

First half was very boring. The second half was very interesting.

The episode was ok, a bit predictable...Bandai being a demon wasn't really surprising but the gold monster being a haunting spirit was a good twist.

So, in the last scene Hiakkimaru gets back a part of him that was taken by the demons. Good.

The old man seems to be nice. I hope that the writers don't kill him.

Man, the opening song is so good, I thought it was mediocre at first, but then I went ahead on a replaying streak for almost half an hour and totally forgot about watching the episode.
I like how we managed to learn a lot about Hyakkimaru in this episode, this old man might become a great ally, I hope he sticks by for more.
Those were some concerning details that Dororo let out about his Mama, there might be an arc around that soon in the future, or maybe, because the show has his name as the title, it could be the entire story instead.
Good to know that Hyakkimaru is not alone, but I wonder, why couldn't he speak? Or maybe even hear? The old man seemed fine so it's not about how he was born or anything, and I'd assume that the old dude had the same life too.

I like the dynamic between Hyakkimaru and Dororo. The kid's really friendly and patient towards him while the guy accepts his companionship and protects him from time to time. It's definitely never a boring time with Hyakki because there're demons to slay and fish to fry all the time.

It just goes for show that not being able to see physically makes you able to see things for what they really are. There's no use tricking eyes that can look right at the soul and they've proven that with Bandai. It's no good of the villagers to use that fearful situation to their advantage by offering travellers out of greed. Bandai might be gone but the guilt that comes with the first victim's bell will last as long as they live.

I wonder exactly what body part Hyakkimaru got back. They showed his skeleton but it's rather vague.

Guess we can't be fooled by appearences =v= at least Hyakkimaru knew right away she wasn't normal. The villagers were a bunch of cowards! I felt bad for the travellers who got tricked and lost their lives :( Great episode!

People chill! Dororo's voice is not so bad! I heard a lot worse voices when it comes to children characters.

So each Demon he kills restores his limbs? I guess that mean the one in episode 1 was his first kill or that he just happened to kill one that was connected to the deal.

Lol at people who still question Hyakkimaru gender, clearly this episode showed his body.

I'm watching the 2nd episode now and there's something that's been bothering me since the first episode and is this:

The studio that made this anime are not even bothering drawing a proper feet, their feet looks like crap, they look like fucking camel's hooves instead.

This anime will lose some points on me because of that so if the anime ends up being a 10/10 I will have to lower it to 8/10. I just can't take an anime that seriously if they don't even bother drawing proper feet.

Let's see how this goes.

Edit:

Also, how is the guy even able to grab that fish afterwards if he has no hands? they are just prosthetic hands. I know I shouldn't been looking for logic in animes but I wish they at least try to put a bit of logic in those type of issues.

Dororo learnt something new here about seeing the soul and Hyakkimaru's name. I hope the old man accompanies them on their journey because it kinda gets lonely with only Dororo talking. So from Hyakkimaru's dad side I gues for every demon that is defeated, bad luck will befall upon his lands.
