I'm guessing Kodiwakai is someone that's been devoured by the forest and switched in the past..would partially explain his hate for Arata. At least I hope that's it, would be interesting. Parallel storylines are interesting so I'll keep watching.

wow! i didn't expected this to happen. i thought this show is just a boring with girls having a big breasts and they would fall in love with one guy.. it exceeds my expectations! Wow! This is epic. This is cool. ;D
I wonder where the other Arata is? Does it mean that the other arata with the long hair is in japan? HAHA. i think this is gonna be awesome! Especially because of their different personality.

leaving it on hold for now...
the plot is decent at best, but lacks the edge to make it different than any other generic shounen plot, compared to something awesome like psychopass that instantly lures in an audience. the execution of this first episode lacks and isn't doing a good job displaying the story. however, the premise is pretty good and animation is okay too.

kinda "meh" for me... will keep watching in hopes of
A) fantasy Arata kicks all the bully's asses in the real world
B) real world Arata goes from emo to hero

I actually did enjoy the episode, but this setup doesn't seem to have a lot of potential to me and has a lot of pretty typical and generic elements. I'm not very fond of the modern Arata at all, but the other Arata was actually interesting to watch for the bit of screen time he got. I don't know; I'm just not very into Yuu Watase's works, which is why I'm really skeptical. For me personally, I've tried quite a few of her manga series, and they've always gotten stale very quickly, so aside from Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden (which is the only work of hers I've truly liked), I've never picked up one of her series beyond a few chapters. I'm questioning whether or not I should keep watching this, but I'll give it a chance with one or two more episodes to see where it goes.

It wasn't that bad.
The details in the character designs are good, same with the animation.
Just the artstyle is completely unoriginal and bland.

Having desire to see an animation of the fantasy genre that had what it takes, I immersed myself in the vision of Arata, already knowing Yuu Watase. For now, I was not impressed a lot on the chart, I look forward to the other episodes to make me an idea about the plot, at least that should be interesting!

I'm enjoying the bishounens~~ fufufufu

Story's alright for now, nothing too too special, but enjoyable enough.
I love Hinohara Arata's seiyuu (Okamoto Nobuhiko) but I really don't like the other Arata's.

Wow... As a manga reader, I'm actually pretty okay with the series. I don't remember much of the beginning of the manga except for the later times when Arata is more than this wimpy kid. I think I'll enjoy a refresher course to the series and continue reading the manga as well o3o

I read the manga and dropped it.

I dropped the manga too a long time ago...but it's nice seeing it animated. All that green flames and other special effects were pretty cool to watch. I wasn't expecting Hamaji's voice to come out of Kotoha either so that was a nice surprise. I also liked the ED. We'll see how this goes, I have more patience with anime than manga, though looking at the number of episodes, guess it's going to be an original anime ending.

Yeah another reason i dropped it because the real Arata is way more better than that punk.

I must be used to this sort of thing more than others....

I've never read the manga and didn't really look into any previews besides the description on here and wasn't even a bit confused about what was going on.
Parallel words and different people switch places.
It's an interesting premise so far I think...hopefully they keep it up.

I love the ED song. It's a shame that the credits sequence it's attached to probably tells far more than it should, considering we're only in the first episode. >>;;

And of course comparison's between Japan's Arata and Amawakuni's Arata start. Always happens. For the record, I think both Arata's are stereotypical hero archetypes. One's the Idiot Hero (though downplayed in this adaptation considerably) while the other is the classic, original definition of the antihero. XD

To be fair to the latter, they've skipped over a large portion of the abuse he gets to make him seem more like an unjustifiably whiny git than he really is since they really only show the verbal abuse.

Ughh.... my experience with Hakkenden and Amnesia have not been good and I'm getting a lot of the same feeling/tone/atmosphere from this. So I'm gonna have to drop this, idk maybe a friend will tell me how much better it gets and I might pick it up again, but I doubt it.

Sigh, people just can't give moe or fujoshi shows a break huh? It's always 'moeshit' or 'fujoshit'.
This show doesn't have any Bl-Undertones in the first place and even if it did, it does not make it 'fujoshit' or 'shit'. It just means it's for a particular audience and that the audience is most certainly not you. And just because you don't like something not aimed at you, it's not shit.

1. Shonen fans have to deal with this all the time.
2. Moe really does need to die
3. You're right; this show doesn't feel like it has much BL at all. The fantasy world has a female lead, even.

Those who say this is bad by the first episode has shit taste, it's so interesting that you barely know shit, and couldn't predict shit, yet calling this shit, so what's the trend now? Aku no Hana I guess? Claiming that to be a psychological shit but it's actually 2 crazy shits doing crazy shits, nothing special.

On topic, awesome swap there the 2 Arata's did :D How will they fit in their different respective world.. I'll be looking this through :D

The anime totally skipped how bad Arata was bullied. In the manga the story starts with Arata going to school when a year starts (he spent his time at home before), how he started making friends until Kadowaki is transferred to his class and they start bullying him again. In the manga Arata overheard how his supposed best friend was part of the bullying stuff he suffered and that's why he felt betrayed.

I was disappointed by that as well. I loved that part of his story, his suffering really gets across and you do feel sorry and relate. The whole Kadowaki getting transfered and Suguru betraying Arata were pretty impactful scenes in the manga, but in the anime it was more like "oh hey, this happened, but we don't have enough time to show the details". Arata had a lot of depth in the manga. I hope they have some flashbacks on his past later so the viewers can relate.

Other than that, not a bad adaptation. I'll keep watching it, but I recommend the manga over the anime.

Also, that ED was pretty boss.

What? They skipped through all that? Damn I guess I'll be reading the manga too after the anime..

Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances.
He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.
Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel.

Terrible adaptation, I'll continue reading the manga and drop this.

This reminds me when people complained about Zetsuen no Tempest during the first episode being fujoshi bait *sigh* The manga has a couple of romantic subplots and none of them are guys being in love with guys. There's not hint of any shonen-ai.

IT IS PUBLISHED IN A SHONEN MAGAZINE, HAS SHONEN TROPES, FIGHTS AND THE ONLY SHOJO PART OF THE MANGA IS THE ART (but it's Yuu Watase what can you expect of the designs). Like I said it has romance but it's not like any shonen doesn't have it.

The anime totally skipped how bad Arata was bullied. In the manga the story starts with Arata going to school when a year starts (he spent his time at home before), how he started making friends until Kadowaki is transferred to his class and they start bullying him again. This is very true I dont really like how they did that
