| "Abandoning your uniqueness is equivalent to dying." -Ryo Yamada Ryo shines so much in this episode! <3 This is not only something that is important when creating art, but it's something that can be expressed as well in the concept of who we are. As people, we tend to bend to society, to our own communities, and to things that limit us from truly being who we are. There's no one like you in the world. You are a unique being. And abandoning that light that makes you who you are is really sad and painful. This is the reason that we listen to music or try to connect with a form of expression on a deeper level. Heck, this is the reason a lot of us watch anime as the beautiful art form it can be at times. There's nothing more important than embracing who you are and sharing that light with others because, at the end of the day, we all want to be embraced and understood. We all want to be accepted and loved for who we are and we feel like we need to change in order to get that from people and we turn our back on ourselves. This show is so gorgeous and I really don't want it to end. With that one line from Ryo my heart melted <3;-; she's so special really. "Bringing a variety of individuals into one sound... | Loved this episode, they focused on the musical side a bit more which is great and Ryo got fleshed out a lot. Not sure if her or Bocchi are my favorite. Hopefully Nijika gets an episode focused on her |

| There's something peculiar about Bocchi the Rock's visual and verbal jokes. For visuals, they're immediately striking in their high energy and expressiveness, somehow making even depressing thoughts visually spiral out of control. This gives the anime plenty of opportunities to flex its animation, of which is actually vibrant and full of personality. For its dialogue, I love how fast the anime transitions from joke to joke, creating a sort of blink-or-you'll-miss-it pacing. Sometimes, you'd still be thinking about a previous joke before the show swiftly transitions to the next one, or just leaves the joke lingering such as the ending bit with Bocchi's maniacal laughter getting cut by the ED. Bocchi the Rock is self-aware enough to recognize tropes and clichés in its genre of cute girls doing cute things, and it doesn't particularly stray from patterns of the past. The show is certainly charming and has a main lead who's easy to follow and support. Although, all of Bocchi's traumas have been portrayed comedically thus far, so I wonder if the show would ever consider going more dramatic, and if that would stray from the show's optimistic, high energy aesthetic. This is just a passing thought though, as I've seen significantly more drama from other anime portraying shut-ins, loners, and the socially conscious. Bocchi the Rock is the first time in a while I've seen such a depressing main lead get dropped into a full-on comedy. |
| I loved the bonding scene between Ryo and Bocchi, it was very heartwarming. The anime is taking a really happy direction, which makes me depressed for my life, just as how most slice-of-life animes do, but the episode was great! |
| They are on a quest to be more 'band-like' They are so real for the feeling like an attention whore on social media bit. Lmao Bocchi quite literally started glitching out after hearing that. I love how Ryo appreciates originality and not just generic motivational lyrics. She basically told Bocchi to embrace her uniqueness and not try to fit in just for the sake of it. Lmao did she really cover her room with those promo photos? ๐ญ New ED? |

| So many memorable moments from Hitori’s mum thinking she was possessed to Hitori herself glitching out, it was funny from start to finish and looks like we got some development on Ryo’s part. I love that she encourages Hitori to write her own lyrics to spark some creativity rather than follow with what everyone else in the business is doing which I think is a very poignant message to have and she’s clearly speaking from experience when it comes to this sort of thing which I thought was very sweet altogether. Again I’m really enjoying the show, it’s just that good, nice new ending there simple but effective. Also Hitori covered her entire room with the promo photos. Priceless. |
