Pretty much all my questions have been answered and everyone being alive and well makes sense, I only have one thing that is bothering me which is The parents of Shinpei cuz if i remember correctly they've been killed by shadows aswell but they didn't mention them at all on this episode which is strange did the manga cover this ?

They were shown in the last episode, just go back to the scene where they are celebrating the festival and ushio and Alan are carrying the huge thing downstairs in one frame we can see shinpei's parents behind ushio and Alan you can confirm their faces from the episode back when shinpei was thrown into the past and he saw memories of when they were alive back then so you can confirm they are the same two people

Although I think this anime and especially the last episode is far from perfect, I'd give it a 10. I really like time travel themes in general, and there aren't many anime with that theme. Something that has a suspenseful story and makes you curious about the plot/lore. Basically a Higurashi.

Big props to authors, studios and other teams, I'm really satisfied.

I don't see what else it would mean. I took it as that as well. Which is why she says "welcome back" afterwards. And he replies with "I'm home". It's like the veil has lifted and they "merged" with their memories and awaken to see each other again. Quite wholtesome ending.

It COULD be interpreted as just a normal "Welcome home", considering he was gone for 2 years without them talking cause of how they said goodbye. That takoyaki thing, them sneaking into the old hospital, might've happened in that timeline too, just without shadows, and they are just happy to be able to talk normally again now, after all that time. I'd say it's ambiguous on purpose.

That being said, I'll go with "they got their memory back" cause I like that more.

We have ample context for the conversation with what we've seen in the show. And absolutely no context for it happening the way you say it. Their whole relationship should be a lot different since his parents didn't die and therefore their whole dynamic should be different. Which is also not shown. My point is you can see it as ambigious if you want but thats stretching it more then seeing it for what it is.

Anyone felt this chilling ominous feeling while watching the final episode? (Idk if it was the music in some parts or just me so I wanted to ask). I'm really interested in knowing if anyone else felt that other than me.
Overall really enjoyed this anime in many aspects, some people jump to say it isn't perfect, but what the hell is?
Loved it!

they did mention them in the anime, when mio asks shinpei if he was gonna stay at his house (which wasn't the case before since he lived with them because of his parent's death). He looks at the phone and they show us his conversation with his mother.
And by the way, great profile you have. big fan of edgerunners as well!

A Beautiful ending to the best series of the first half of 2022! I would have read this as a novel or manga any day!

I'm not a mystery fan, but this anime gets me on my feet--until the end of first half, where it lost its mystery charm. Doesn't mean it's bad, but for me personally it dropped from solid 9 to 8. Still worth watching till the end, although I agree with the others the ending is too happy to be true--even more after going through the grim 24 episodes. But hey, my boy Ryuunosuke is alive and well! And Shinpei deserved as much happiness as he & Ushio can gets.

A bit disappointed that ED 1 is not used as closure, it sounds more ephemeral and the lyric suits this series more.

To everyone saying this was a happy ending (it is though), how do you feel about "My name is Emporio" then? 'Cause this is very much like Stone Ocean's ending. Bittersweet, and with "versions" of characters who we grew accustomed to and the character growth they went through (Nagumo and Ryuunosuke) never ever coming back, but at least their lives are saved.

P.S.: Really glad to see "our" Ushio and Shinpei reunited.
P.S.S.: RIP Haine (Hiruko).

for me the most satisfying ending have only ever been kamisama kiss n furuba (yes I'm a shoujo addict) but summertime completely gave me breath of relief, the fireworks scene w that bg music at last was so beautiful it healed all the wounds i had to go thru all summerloops; i started watching this while it was airing n after first half i took a break for few weeks n now that I'm finally done w it i feel empty this was such a ride it had everything suspense, action, thrill, romance u name it. i heard there was a spinoff on hizuru wish we get a ova bc i am not ready to let go of them just yet :')

I’m so glad I watched it. Original plot idea, likable characters, I think we should really appreciate shows like this one. As some people noticed, the finale seemed too nice to be true :). I kinda wished at least for the majority of main characters to remember these 2 days they survived, but still it is awesome

Wow.
What!, A Finale!
A perfect conclusion.
A perfect adaptation.
I heard the conclusion was bit stretched in the manga that made it little annoying, but I think anime's pacing was perfect.

A very satisfying end, made me feel nostalgic, and very sad that this journey has come to an end.
The journey was full of pain, agony, suffering, despair, it was not only sad things only but, also love, happiness, and dedication to save everyone.

A great story, great storytelling, great voice acting as expected from Japan and great music with great animation.

I really got emotional at the end when the ending started playing.
Every great things always comes to an end and this time it's "Summertime Rendering".

We will meet again somewhere, sometime.

I remembered somewhere mid season, I was thinking to myself "what a great show this is", amid all the suspense, and great characters and storylines.
Then a few episodes later, the story got a little off, too much narration, instead of just showing the plot, and sloppy redemption trope. But it was still tolerable...
Well the whole show has its ups and downs with the story progression for me.

But I didn't think the last episode could confuse me so much about how I should rate this show.... Definitely took me from "great show" to "what did I just watched??" in a single episode....

I definitely need some time to think about how I can rate this....

What do you mean? I haven't read the manga, i mean judging from the last season it's obvious that they won't end up together, it was just that. My rationing lmao
Sorry if it sounded like anything else.

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

I am very conflicted by the ending. On one hand I am really happy for them. On the other hand, they could have ended it on episode 24 and it would be p e r f e c t. Anyway, it was an amazing show, just not 10/10 for me.

Amazing. It really brought back the Re:Zero vibes where your on the edge of your seat in anticipation and curiosity. I loved it!

The artwork was amazing, the action was smooth and the story kept progressing and throwing twists upon twists at you to crumble those predictions and guesses. I wish they'd extend the ending so maybe we could have seen the aftermath of Shinpei and Ushio gaining their memories.. maybe even some romance? Overall it was an extremely enjoyable watch. A solid 9.6/10 in my book.

What the fuck is that garbage ending? It seemed all the sacrifices and the dogshit adventures had been for nothing. They really pushed the "Disney ending" after the unnecessary dramas, especially at the last part. I mean, what were the dramas and the goodbyes between the two for?

I think that the last episode winded up the story in a satisfactory but unexpected kind of way, I wasn't actually expecting it to go that path but there were some nice surprises and most of all it was a happy ending.

The epilogue felt entirely undeserved, just like the contrived victory.
This might be the most disappointing anime I've watched to completion. A shame.. it started so strong.

The premise, production value, and character designs were all 10's, and the characters' decisions throughout were refreshingly intelligent. But for a show that presents itself as based on mysteries and logic, it throws both mystery and logic in the trash around halfway through.

In general good anime, although tiring specially after trying to binge watch in just 2 days. In the last episodes (the last seven episodes or so) I was already getting impatient and wanting to end quicker.

I had a few questions, but by this time I already forgot them and it does not matter much anymore.

The end was gladly a happy one.

7.5/10 (I am probably going with 7, although 8 is very plausible as well).
