For a 40-minute piece it did its job. Nothing too grand in scheme, nor any particular missteps. Appreciate it but probably wouldn't remember it for too long either. |

3 people. Ayane? Aoi. Tomoya. Ryou. The Summer Ghost? Roll credits. A woman in her early 20's? Committed suicide? Dat flashback. Roll credits. She's real! And pretty. Roll credits. Dat flashback. Within arms reach of death? She's in the air. Roll credits. Satou Ayane. She left. Dat flashback. Tomoya sees Ayane again. Tomoya came out of his body. They're flying. Ayane didn't commit suicide? She was killed? Her house. Her okaasan. Dat reveal. A date? Ryou asks the question. Aoi goes after Ryou. Tomoya keeps running out. Ryou and Aoi appear. She found her body. The suitcase. Tomoya opens it. Ryou passed away months ago. Dat ending. And that was the end. I wanted to see this since it was announced. Decided to wait until the 1st week of Summer to watch it just to fit with the title. It was good. It's crazy that Aoi gets bullied when she's so pretty. Those scum have their priorities wrong. Fock the driver who hid Ayane's body. Ayane best girl. She was too fine to die. I was shipping Tomoya and Ayane since the trailers. Wish he at least got a kiss, but hey, they went on a date. I'll miss you Ayane. |

Amazing movie. It follows a typical drama format, it has all the general dramatic plot devices, and it has even the "perseverance" ending. But it is all beautiful anyway. I like my shorts, and this was a short that was really good imo. It was quite fast lol. Had to check if I was watching this in 1.25 speed or smth lol. But that's just the film. Doesn't give time to absorb scenes too much, but it wasn't like too fast too catch anything. So I am fine but it was something that is to note lol. Good stuff overall. |

This film had potential for greatness, but only if it was a little longer so it could develop Aoi's and Ryou's backstories more. Additional time would also make the film slower, I had to rewind a couple of times. Pastel colors are a great choice for characters and backgrounds aren't lacking in detail. Music score doesn't feel original, it's like something you would find in your standard drama show, but it does its job pretty well. 7-7.5/10 |

that was fucked upppp💀💀 leading me up like that.. i went all "omg it's been a year, does that mean ryou survived?!😍😆🥳🥳🥳" but No. of course not. that was beautiful tho. the simplistic art, the music, the story, everything. mann i want to forget about this and watch it again. just to get maximum feels it was so good, i enjoyed it lots |

This sort of stood out on the "A Summer Out of This World" Challenge, so I'm watching it for good measure. The art and atmosphere were pretty interesting to look at -- there were a lot of engaging visuals. That was probably one of the strongest things about this little project/film thing. I wish it had been a little longer, as it felt choppy, and rushed, in places. I feel like there was enough there they could've explored more of the characters backgrounds and really developed them. There was probably even potential to make this a full on "whodunit" and fully explore Ayane's death. On one hand it's probably good that it left me wanting me more, on the other hand I feel like it was a bit of wasted potential. I will say, I didn't expect this to address suicide. It's somewhat crazy that of all the potential anime in that interest stack, I managed to pick one about suicide. Seems like they're always gravitating towards me, one way or another. Anyway, overall it was pretty good. |

That was absolutely brilliant, hit me pretty hard tbh, didn't know what it was going to cover. I thought the pacing was pretty damn good, all things considered. Easily the best short anime film I've ever seen. Incredible visuals, heart wrenching moments that felt real, I think this is a 10/10 for me. Ryou being dead at the moment was executed perfectly as well, ugh, extremely effective tear jerker. I've been in Tomoya's shoes when I was younger, I think that's why this film resonated so much with me. Hats off on a beautiful film. |

This was alright I guess, nothing spectacular but also nothing overly shit. I think the pacing was a bit too quick to really create meaningful impacts lol. Especially with Ryou and Ayane's stories they just felt like PV's and just there to increase the drama rather than worthwhile stories. Tomoya's was definitely better in that regard but even his I felt was also quite quick. But then again, these ~hour films tend to have absurd levels of pacing in general Honestly this was quite forgettable, mainly because of said above how the pacing was too quick to actually give a damn 5/10 |

As a longtime fan of loundraw's artwork as well as his anime trailer project, I was so excited when I learnt that he had made a movie! And what I can say about it is that it was a great movie. In the short 39-minute runtime, you get the hook, the story, the good characters, and the emotion. Not to mention, it was by no means a shallow movie. There's really a lot to think about, and doubtless more than one interpretation of the events and message. I loved it, more than I expected to. And glad to see his artistic style still preserved even in animation format. 9/10. I look forward to loundraw's next works. He might just be another favourite director of mine after Makoto Shinkai. A longer, more fleshed-out version of this would be welcome too! |

I watched this a little over a month ago, but at the time didn't have time to write down my thoughts, so I decided to watch it once more. It hit me just as hard the second time, if not harder. Especially in the beginning since I already knew that Ryou passed away. I still can't believe they tricked us that like, I cried so hard during the reveal at the end the first time. The second time around, I was able to focus a bit more on the visuals, and they were definitely a bit rough and at times the movements were a bit stilted, but nothing major that detracted from my enjoyment. I do love the simplistic style anyways, especially since I've been following loundraw since before he made any animations. I think his main strength is in the lighting and how it can evoke certain emotions. Additionally, the soft and ambient piano tracks were such good accompaniment to the story, as well as scenes which lacked bgm and only had sound effects were well done. I can understand if some didn't feel impressed. For me, it was an incredibly emotional ride during the last third of the film. Like other people who have commented, I also didn't expect this to be about death and suicide, which I find to be an emotional topic. It hurt when fake Ayane asked, "Why would you cling onto a world that only makes you suffer?" And then Tomoya said, "You're not Ayane-san. You're the part of me that's looking for a reason to die." While each characters' struggles were different, I was still able to connect with them in certain ways. I also felt particularly proud of Aoi for finally standing up for herself, even if her voice was shaking when she told those kids off. Lastly, I loved Ryou's last lines, they were so uplifting. "I'm sure things will work out for the both of you. I don't have any proof of that, but I guarantee you they will." I think believing that everything will be okay is how (some) people keep moving forward. |

It's incredible how much this movie has to say in only 40 minutes. My only complaint is that I wish it was a bit longer since the pacing is quite fast. Ost and especially the artstyle are magnificent. Composition is really good, some shots are going straight to my wallpaper folder. I watched it dubbed in English, the dub is good, nothing exceptional. The emotional punch at the end 100% worked on me, bawled at the end, 10/10 Loundraw's artstyle continues to blow me away, I hope he gets to do even bigger projects, he has the potential to become a powerhouse in the industry. |

I had a feeling this anime was going to hit for me but didn't think it would hit this hard. All 3 characters provide something to potentially relate to in a way depending on your personal experiences in life and really provide a sense of authenticity as it's executed in a manner that feels balanced. Despite it's shortness I feel it's really able to hit it's marks well if you're able to fully interpret everything as it occurs. As someone who can relate to many of the points this brings alongside the initial concept of suicide, this really hit and is something I can come back to down the line to remind me that I have many things in life that are worth living for. 9/10 |

This was a lot better than I expected. I thought it might be all style over substance, but it really wasn't. Quite a lot of stuff happened, so the 40 mins went by very fast. I figured the guy they were with at the end was a ghost, but was holding out hope he survived at first. |

29 tracks wut? Not the biggest fan of how the characters and backgrounds were blended but that's a given with how exceptional Loundraw is at drawing his idiosyncratic backgrounds. Wonder if the main character is based on himself but I'm not going to try to go deep. The script did feel like running through a number of points, especially due to the short runtime but I'm glad I watched it. Sending just her brooch to her mom was a nice touch. The sound direction did feel a bit weird in the first place though. |

overall this anime or movie(?) is good. my honest rating is 8-10. this is like some kind of short story that tells the story of 3 people (Aoi, Tomoya, dan Ryo) who want to die because of a problem experienced in their respective lives. in that city there is an urban legend about a ghost that will appear at the airport if we set off fireworks. they went to check if the ghost really existed because they wanted to ask the perspective of life from the ghost's point of view. it turns out that the ghost does exist and is named Ayane. In my opinion, the depth and experience of these characters is not very deep because the duration is very short. if the duration is made like a film in general. maybe it can make the audience more aware of the ending of the story |

Pain is immeasurable about the truth of life but it still moves on and that what hurts the most. There is no gain without struggling and suffering. This one shows us just that. But sometimes people are not always strong to get back on Their feet like the two characters of this anime. If you're wondering what happens after the last scene? Well you have your own story of life to figure that out in reality. Sometimes they just need some hugs About the anime, it was good in whole but it was sad that Ayane wasn't there at their last reunion. Also Ryou dying and coming back as a ghost remained a mystery as his situation was different from Ayane's. So pretty sure that Ayane could've come at their last meeting or it was that she was just too tired of being a ghost, after finding her body decided to free her from it herself. Where the souls live to not feel alone. |

Decent Adaptation of the manga. 5/10. The cinematography was as great as the composition of the manga itself, even if some scenes and imagery was different, along with the character design. As intriguing and somewhat great as this story is, I thought the manga felt dull. My biggest issue with this story was how lacking their halt to suicide is. There's no sign or proper insight to their psychology as to why they decide to not commit suicide anymore. I skimmed through the manga to refresh my memory, but as unclear as it is afterwards, I think it's partly out of rebelion and pride. Tomoya to go against his mother for his dreams, and Aoi partly to not commit suicide when Ryou told her out anger in their argument (in the manga). For a 40-minute adaptation, this anime was surprisingly not a full and faithful adaptation. I believe if it was over an hour, it could fully adapt the manga as is. The first half is similar in 'presentation' for the most part, but there's quite a difference at the second half of the story. Although, from the beginning, a lot of dialogue is cut or even change from Ayane, to everyone else. Ayane seems far darker, from bitterness of the living, while frequently questioning their psychology and reason for commiting suicide. As for the trio, while Tomoya is visiting Ayane, Ryou and Aoi hangout alone, each hiding their secret. Aoi of getting bullied, and Ryou nearing death. In detail, aside from their hangouts and hints to their secrets or Aoi's attempt to support Ryou... The manga cuts out practically all of their self struggle. Tomoya's arguments with his mother. Aoi getting bullied. And Ryou struggling in the hospital. The biggest change is excluding Ryou's arguments with Aoi, along with Tomoya later for his hate of nearing death while they can live. The guy in the anime who he lies of his joking death is a girl in the manga. Ayane herself also shows stronger signs of being "depressed" of her death, being worried of her mother, and regrets not doing more. ... Finally, the Epilogue of the manga is brief, but it shows a bit more insight towards Aoi, along with her and Tomoya's feelings for the future. |

Meh. They tried too hard to make us cry. I mean it's not even the guy who found the body, it's the girl. But he still get all the credits from the ghost because he's the MC ? I hate how they're clearly playing favorites here. It says there's 4 MC, but in fact there's 2. I know it's a short movie and they don' thave time to do things... but really it's not that hard to make people cry with ghost stories, so I don't think something is great just because it's sad. Also yes, it's clearly the ghost who put the brooch in front of the door of the mother. There's a gate and barriers around the garden, you can't just ring and dash this kind of house. |

Beautiful short film. Although I think it needed a bit more time to truly tell its story, it gets its message across at the end. Life is worth living, not matter how hard it may get "I'm sure things will work out for both of you. I don't have any proof of that, but I guarantee you they will. Live your best lives." |

@curvedtree Yeah that's the one thing I didn't enjoy here. What is the mom supposed to think? "Oh the killer / kidnapper just left her brooch here to torment me further" or "My daughter wants to let me know she's alive but not ready to come back home" Fantastic short movie. I think they did a good job touching on the subject of suicide with the limited time this movie had. Sadly there is no gain without the struggles and suffering of life and sadly some people can't deal with it as well as others. Finding a purpose in life is so important, doesn't matter how small or insignificant. Even the small gestures like a hug can change so much in someone's life. |
