It was a good episode.
It was shown in this episode what happened to Metropoliman's sister and also how he became a candidate, I thought she had some illness, I didn't think Metropoliman himself was to blame for what happened to her.

Great episode! We got to see how Metropoliman's sister Rea died. They had a perfect relationship but he was angry that she was asked out as he wanted her to remain untouched by filth...
She fell and banged her head on a piece of stone and he preserved her in ice.
He was upset about that and was about to kill himself until his angel made him a God candidate.
Mirai and Metropoliman fight with the rules that they shoot each other with their arrows and close the between them until one gets shot...
Metropoliman's ideas for the world once he is God are very extreme and they have been broadcasted to the world. His friend also knows he is Kanade...

Another cliffhanger...
Looking forward to the next episode!

I hate pretty much everything about this anime and what it stood for up to now. Yet, I can't bring myself to stop watching. I'm really conflicted about this.

Maybe I just want to see if Mukaidou will see things through.

This "battle" is pathetic. If only the action was enjoyable and fun to watch. It's a story with angels and people with powers ffs.

Kanade is batshit insane and is saying some fucked up things but he's one of the most interesting characters at least. Others are just standing there. lmao Mirai is "nice" but has no plan.

What Kanade said about how no one would check the coffin though, it was weird because yes, there are people who check and all, it's their job? No? But it's the writer's fault and not the character I guess. Oh well.

I guess I wasn't the only one here expecting a new OP/ED songs. Regardless, the tension between Mirai and Metropoliman's duel was still high, although their battle still isn't done at all.

What we did get was an insight into Metropoliman's backstory and what he was like when his sister was still living. His views were already kinda warped, but it all went downhill when she wanted to date a boy that she liked, which had him make really stupid choices which led to her nasty fall.

He was brave, or rather foolish, to voice what he would do if he did become god, which unbeknownst to them all, their battle was being livestreamed by the kid that was allied to him previously. Hopefully we'll get a conclusion to this duel next time. A decent episode, but it still has me interested in seeing what will happen next.

This episode was the worst for the show so far, by showing us that Metropoliman is a bigger moron than Mirai. Metropoliman was a straight up groomer sis-con. Calling your sister unpure because a guy asked her out WTF. Its a good thing she died from the comedically high tower that you Metropoliman caused. Intentionally and unintentionally he straight up killed her. Oh boo hoo your sister is dead, but you are one of the richest, most beautifully educated people in the entire world. And then your answer for making everyone equal is by killing poor and stupid people. Man all that private education couldn't save your rotting brain.

To quote Rocket Racoon "I don't care if it's mean. Everybody's got dead people! But it makes no excuse to letting everyone else around get killed along the way!"

Damn, that was how Kanade's sister died? It really puts his and Minamikawa's past time of ogling middle school girls 3 year under them in a new light, now we know how he acted towards his 14-year-old sister. From the reason she fell, to the Kanade choosing not to call an ambulance, it was red flag after red flag.

Minamikawa now knows his friend is Metropoliman after the wishes of ridding the world of ugly girls was spoken aloud in the duel. He'd probably go to the cops (did the kid in the mask broadcast the duel hoping people could identify Metropoliman by his personality/beliefs?)

Since Metropoliman used a body double at the stadium, Mirai's thinking he's doing the same here.

You know how when you first see Metropoliman you kind of like him, because he does look good, and he's very intelligent and strategic? And you think, something bad happened to his little sister and he really loved her and he's doing all that because 1) he thinks the world that killed his sister should be punished (and he's enough of a psycho to be that extra but okay whatever) and 2) to bring her back. And then the anime slaps you in the face with, you overlooked his terrible mindset and ideas because he's good looking and tried to give him a tragic background while he's just that f* up. Yeah...

Sorry but, do you call having that kind of twisted behaviour and grooming your sister "moronic"? Most people would call it criminal and even more proof that Kanade is a full-on twisted person from start to finish

Oh that's my bad I was trying said he was moronic in his plans in dealing with the poor/stupid people. How do we deal with inequality, oh lets just kill anyone I deem unfit to live. Which in his mind must be like 90% to 95% of the human population. No, he is straight up a psychopath.

Honestly at first I was giving him the benefit of the doubt and thinking woaahh he must be so deep and complicateddd and then during the scene with the other dude 'babe-watching' I was just... hmm. ok. maybe I'll start pulling back a bit.........

Going by the comments, the show finally created a character that people reacted to. It took this show long enough. Can I just say that in this world of siscons and brocons, a villain with just an "unhealthy" relationship with his sibling is breath of fresh air. Especially in a show that has no problem clearly spelling out how messed up it's characters are.

Kanade is a stupid kid going by stupid kid + anime logic. There would never be enough slaves if he killed all the ugly people. If you take slavery off the table, there will never be enough pretty people to sustain life on earth. Plus he expects rich, beautiful people to do things for themselves. I don't see the point in getting offended by a plan as dumb as this villain. Even if I wasn't an African guy, I still wouldn't be upset.

I'm just curious if this show will dip in quality like Death Note, or remain where it's at to the finish line. Can it maintain that 6 out of 10 or not?

yes i'm nitpicking about rea's death here. wtf is it with anime characters & having a giant raised platform in the middle of a room? i really hate this whole accidental death thing. of all the ways she could have died, she died because she randomly became afraid of her brother and decided to keep walking backwards along the giant raised platform in the middle of the room, and somehow manage to fall off?? did i not see handrails along their giant raised platform? how did she STILL fall off? what did she even hit her head on and how was it positioned so perfectly that it would actually hit her head?

not to be annoying by bringing up death note - but i actually kinda liked the parallels we saw. both light and kanade want to turn the world into their ideal place by getting rid of those they deemed unfit for the world (though their ideals are very different from one another). thought that was cool. but it was way easier to understand and kind of resonate with light, if that makes sense? kanade just wants to kill all the ugly and poor people (which would be a double strike for me lmfao) so they don't taint his world. my god like i don't understand this man lmfao. my dude will literally commit mass murder and see nothing wrong with it, but he has a problem with a poor person working as a cashier to be able to afford food for their family. lmfao okay bud.

All this while I thought that Metropoliman must have some really good reason for why he turned out like that - like his sister got murdered by someone or got tricked and driven into a corner to commit suicide or maybe had some terminal illness or something but what was revealed in this episode is absolutely sick! The guy is just a siscon with some really fucked up ideologies. I'm disappointed!

Probably the best episode so far but that's not saying much.
Looks like we got introduced to bootleg L this episode, and Kanade was outdated as being anime Hitler #99.
The main character is still such a pussy though I'm rooting for Metropoliman to win.

It wasn't an accident. She didn't die because she fell and hit her head, she died because her brother chose not to call an ambulance afterwards.

Metropoliman is a true psychopath, he understands the problems that the world brings but his solutions consist of killing, killing and killing again based on his "beauty" paranoias. On top of that, idiots like his friend reinforce that thought ...

Many who have seen this episode will have been horrified, but I am clear that many of those, if they had the power of this crazy, would be even worse.

THIS MAKES NO SENSE, DIDN'T MUKAIDO SHOT A RED ARROW TO MIRAI FROM BEFORE? Why is it that Mirai won't listen to what
Mukaido does?!

Oh great, but this time it's funny, the death of Rea, it was so awful that it's hilarious

It's as if Metropoliman was not bad enough, by how he plans to "eliminate" poverty (totally impossible economically),
we get Mirai with his typical recycled "You can't take peoples potential and happiness away" CAN THERE NOT BE ANY MORE
ALTERNATIVES?! JEEZ !!

And Ironically, in real life, there are rich people that are depressed, and poor people that are happy.

So erm.. also, how the hell did Metropoliman knew about Hajime getting facial surgery, and living an ugly life with poverty.
LIKE?! who told him that?! HOW DOES HE KNOW?!?!

Even worse, the dialogue at the end killed it for me...

Kanade may be a massive piece of shit but he's one of the only things keeping me from dropping this series. Despite how fucked up he is I'm just glad at least 1 character in this show is somewhat interesting. Kakehashi is still a terrible MC and I've given up hope that I'll come to like him in any capacity. Reminds me too much of Steven from Steven Universe with his moral grandstanding and forced spiels about happiness.

The pacing is abysmal to top it off. I LOVE slow burns and series that make you think, and this show is trying so hard to be that but all it's doing is falling face first into the mud. It's trying so hard to be something that it's just not. The writing feels like something an angsty middle schooler would write. Such a shame coming from the creator of Death Note.

I won't drop it since we're already halfway through, and I do enjoy Kanade and Revel. Wish it would show more of Revel because I'm a sucker for characters with bob cuts apparently.

Metropoliman was slowly becoming light but it turns out he's just a sis-con in the most disgusting and unhealthy way...and here I was actually starting to like him as an antagonist but his beliefs are too ridiculous. I and my whole family would be dead in his world XD

That's a good thing that Mirai noticed. After giving it a little thought that kid running away like that does seem a little fishy when it is said that he was shot with a red arrow by Metropoliman. Now it's gonna be really strange if it turns out that it's the kid who is the actual antagonist and he is the one who shot Metropoliman and is controlling him.

No new OP or ED. I guess it'll probably start from episode 14 but it'll be boring if both OP and ED stay the same till the end.

Well I won't defend this trash but in this episode, they mainly focused on showing how f*cked up mentality Kanade had, so that makes sense that yeah he is not an antagonist or anti-hero, he is a total villain, so atleast this was still fine but once a trash forever a trash

This show is so goddamn tone-deaf with everything it portrays is absolutely insane. The fact that was so much moral cringe in this episode standalone makes it the absolute worst by now by a large margin (that's what I continuously say myself by the last 4 episodes but yet I can't comprehend how this is getting so much and much worse. beats me)

Completely agree. I even wonder if it so bad on purpose, but unfortunately I don't think so, there is not even a slight of comedy to make you think so. And this episode is by far the worst I've ever seen.

BRuh...

I am now convinced that everyone that was chosen for this game is functionally incapable of being a god anyway. This is why you shouldn't look for heroes among cowards who had already decided to give up and die. I guess we shouldn't really be shocked they all suck.

A terminally ill man whose cancer is literally growing worse the more he interacts with these idiots...
A cat girl who does nothing...
A morally upstanding idiot who somehow is more powerful than the red arrow that he won't even listen to his own teammates request? Great plot hole there!

Also Mirai is right about one thing, Uruyu is lower than a cockroach. Anybody who would let their sister die just so another man couldn't have her is literally the most disgusting thing I've ever heard. This author is literally obsessed with pedophilia and I'm not sure why everyone else is shying around this reoccurring plot device.

So Metropoliman confirmed to be basically a nazi, not that we needed confirmation of that anyway.

Terrible episode all around due to pacing, the mc being braindead and the unfathomable amount of dialogue all around. It's funny seeing how some of the people watching the broadcast didn't even seem to care about what that psychopath was saying.

I'm here only for the morbid curiosity of seeing how this could get any worse.

A crazy siscon-maniac lol. They should at least have tried to give a good background story as to why he turned evil. Instead of saying "hey he was just crazy from the beginning".

Also with the stuff being streamed by the young boy ... and police watching it ...
I really wished the police would have been more involved. Big difference between this and Death Note. Some normal people trying to stop crazy god candidates ... would have been more fun. (With no super power but just with brains and knowledge.)

[spoiler] As disturbing as Poliman's sister's death is, Healthcare savy fans would notice that it provides an interesting example, the only one I've seen in animation at least Of how an epidural hematoma manifests. She hits her head on a Hard surface and she's out cold at 1st But then she wakes up minutes later And sees and talks to her brother (lucid conscious stage) Before falling back into unconsciousness again. the comments here really made me laugh. this was seriously the best episode so far. finally good adaption to ohba's work.
i don't expect though that only anime watchers to understand since the studio ruined roughly ohba's script, but the manga is much more complex. the whole battle royal is kind of ohba's "playground" to his ideals, lol

kanade's past was really pointed that out. kanade may be fictional character, but his kind of ideals are perfect for his playground. and also his "speech" about his being kami, it was damn deep.
but as i said in the manga discussions, ohba's playground doesn't necessarily means it's good playground lol. the story is still shit. so i get the critic.
