Edit: didn’t even talk about Annette and Shin’s flashback or the empty barracks scene which was heartbreaking. A LOT of great takeaways from today. |

Also Anna never hated Shin, she was only doing that because of social norm/pressure and she clearly hates herself for that. So it could be interesting "redemption arc" for her. Of course I doubt it will happen, even if Shin survive he will most likely end up with Lena (if she survive) but still it would be interesting to see. |

| Oi oi and then there was five? They swept up the 86 under the attack. This feels like the show is ending, but they already have a 2nd cour in place. So what could be in store yet? Also Lena and Annette's end of friendship was as harsh as it could be. Sometimes it good to be ignorant of things as to not get hurt, but feeling the pain is what grows us. That moment when Annette called Shin a colored one, broke my heart. When the people you trust with kind treat you like same as others, its hard to face the world. Its a harsh world even as kids. |

| From the beginning I never liked Annette and this episode really drove thatr home. Such twisted logic for a twisted character. At least Jerome just acknowledges that this is just how this fucked up country is. Anyway great sendoff with the 5 survivors going to their "last" battle. I do wonder if this really will be the last. For all 5 of them. This is still volume one of the novels ffs. And what is Lena going to do? I think it's time she takes a drastic move. It's crazy how fast everyone has died off. |
| I fucking love this show man, phenomenal episode! I have other stuff to read but, fuck it 86 is going on top the priority list. Why they gotta off screen my boy Haruto's death though damn. Annette was honestly speaking facts, it's not right but, it's reality. Most people in this world are like Annette or Lena's uncle. We gotta do what we gotta do to survive, that it's better to not get involved, stuff like that. I hope they do fix their friendship though, seeing how Lena is at least trying to help the eighty-six must make Annette feel like shit, unintentionally guilt tripping her and shit. She was out of line but, I can understand her circumstances. Pretty interesting that Annette and Shin were childhood friends though. It's only 5 of them left huh, seeing how there's less and less of them in that shot in the OP with the spearheads in the hanger and then more and more of them in that shot of the flower field is pretty depressing. It was right in front of us all this time, that the 5 of them will be the ones left based on the poster visuals. The irony how they're all happy before the mission and here I am only feeling depression. Really looking forward to the next episode, it better not be goodbye. That post credits scene though, Jesus. So, Shin's scar really was just from Rei choking him, not because of some head removing experimentation shit lmao. Man, the remaining episodes will be insane. And we're only in volume 1 like what the fuck. |

| Damn, A1 keeps topping themselves with every new episode. This is without a doubt the best anime any of their teams have ever put out and without a doubt the best LN of all time. Hopefully by the time the first cour ends MAL lets me give this a 12/10 rating. |

| Damn super heavy episode again. I hope it will stop beeing so forced melodramatic though. People said this in the past already and its definitely true, with the constant emotional hits but lack of character developement for the 86 it loses real impact. Also wtf is that republic? Only Alba are real humans for them so I always wondered how their politics with other countries looked like, apparently nobody knows how they treat 86? Wut? Maybe I missed that, but 86 arent a race right? They are just non alba. Isnt the world filled with non albas? How about you exile them? Or idk go for a more direct approach instead of basing your military on them? I guess everyone always drinks and stuff to distract themselfes but those arent exactly people I trust not to say "hey the drones arent empty". Like what? I really hoped this story would be a bit.. more solid overall. Animation is amazing though. |

| Still not really that invested in this, which is a shame because with that preview for that next episode, the interesting concepts just keep coming. I just wish I cared for the characters a little more, but I don't. It's all well made but the one thing I really like is the way they end each episode, not on a cliffhanger (well there's the preview but I don't think that really counts), but on note that says "that's the end of this chapter, all tied up!" Don't exactly know how to word it but each episode just ends very nicely, you know? |

It just feels like a series of events being ticked off. A good adaptation looks at the big picture and decides what has to be cut out for the story to adapt well to anime form. I have never heard of a LN being adapted so accurately blow-by-blow before (but that may just be inexperience) The reason why binging it all in one go would be able to determine whether I personally find this to be true is because it would allow me to experience the entire story at the pace I want it to. I will have immediate memory of all references and previous events to give better and clearer context not just to the story, but also the tone and pacing. You are absolutely right. I have debated a bit with someone else on another thread how the anime might not hit the right note for some people depending on what they are expecting. I attributed that problem mostly to the anime format that forces weekly episodes and how some charm of the first LN might not transition that well because of it. I definitely think that for some people, marathoning the anime can result in a better experience because of how you can dictate the flow of the story instead of being time-gated for weeks on end. I do recommend you to try to marathon it and see if it works better for you! Also as a side note, I believe Durarara 1st season is a similar type of accurately adapted LN since the first cour(first 12-13 episodes) adapted only a single LN similar to 86. I haven't read Durarara though so I can't say for sure if it's that accurately adapted, but I do recommend you to check it out if you're interested. |
| The relationship between those two brothers is so interesting yet frustrating and sad. Because they could never show what affection they had towards each other after all of that happened. I loved this episode like this whole show but it is so dark and sad whats happening right now. And it's even worse to know that we had societies like that in the past of our world, too. |

| Man, this anime is probably one of, if not the, best anime of this season for me. I have no idea what’s going to happen next but it seems as if next episode would be a finale, though apparently that isn’t the case. I’m so sad with what’s happened with the 86’ers, but it’s good that we got more insight this episode regarding the lore behind them. |

| Why does everyone blame Lena when they are the idiots, that maintain status quo of evil. They believe that the Legion will stop after 2 years and the threat will be gone. Anette the rage bomb, what actually was her problem. Sure that are haunting memories she had from the past, but Lena has nothing to do with it. R U S H E D after the previous episode that was a fast progression, but they don't have enough episodes to make it any different. I just was like "uhh, already?" The final march of Spearhead already looked bittersweet with the epic sunrise and cute transport units, also they looked kind of happy to be out of the loop very soon. Let's see what they can do with 5 people. Just would be curious as to how fast they have that outpost "refilled". When Legion would be serious that would not even matter honestly. |

| So it looks like Henrietta's friend was actually Nouzen? Loved it, it probably won't happen, but I really wanted to see their reunion, at least she could ask him for forgiveness. Maybe I'm saying nonsense here, but Nouzen's mother died in one of Henrietta's father's experiments? His older brother blames him for some reason, I was thinking that maybe could have a relationship with him trying to be friends or just play with Henrietta. It's very sad to see them going on a suicide mission, I'm waiting for someone to come to their rescue, probably Lena will try to do something, It's not possible that everyone will just die, Nouzen hasn't even met Lena yet. |
