Damn that was such a great episode. Wit Studio really did a great job with the action scenes of the great assemblyman rescue

Too bad the ep didnt end on a happy note but it does showcase the two vastly different ideologies that Vivy and Matsumoto have. Rip Momoka

my stress levels are through the roof watching this ,i remember seeing the visual art for this and thinking huh this has some dark war stuff mix with bright colors on the otherside the opening act is my nightmare and its a future im glad is the focus on stopping but it was hard to figure out what the real tone of this was gonna be till this episode.. Matsumoto is some coldass AI thought with him coming from the future they could make this plot of a 100 years real easy but i'm glad but sad at the same time that isn't the case.

not sure if i'm ready for all the tragedy we might have to suffer through for the goal stopping that future

i will watch this with great interest too early to say if this will be a breakout hit or anything but it has a chance ,kinda surprised how few people are watching it though

Incredible. That was a breathtaking episode! This is a contender for AoTS, didn't expect to get so much emotion in the 2nd episode. I'm loving the characters, Matsumoto is fun and quirky, I actually don't how fast he talks.

Mannn this anime has absolutely gorgeous visuals, such a pleasure to look at. Also, RIP the 12-year old, Though we only saw her once I kind of liked her, and she was clearly close with Vivy so it's kind of sad that she's apparently dead..

The scene where she was running through broken glass pieces was sick, she looked a lot like Miku. Oh shit I didn't see that ending coming, felt really bad for Vivy.

Nobody foresaw that ending because it made no sense. They shook hands and on the next frame a construction mech slammed Diva into a wall. Was several minutes of footage missing from Funimation?

Very impressed with this episode, especially visually. Some plot devices with the bear were there, but overall, I was really gripped into the tone of this episode and interested with the themes involved with the world itself. Pretty great scenes too with some nice action too, complemented by how well the show looks with many shots looking wallpaper-worthy while fitting the SciFi theme really smoothly.

Is cool and stuff, but the time-travel is basically Steins Gate with just the date being able to travel, because Matsumoto receive live feed from the future?

And in this Japan, safety is for dumb people? We have a large terrorist organization. Highly functioning AI with body to withstand a huge piece of reinforced concrete, but dubious mechanics for a plane of that future.
Would be interesting be police, after all looks like you do nothing.

Looking at the first 2 episodes, wasn't a surprise the AI getting crazy in 100 years.

I didn't expect back to back episodes but hey, the more the merrier.
The relationship between humans and AI is taking even darker turn. This is not what anyone would like. These kinds of actions literally spark a war. The technological aspect is pretty advanced but not in a good way.

By sparking a war, are you talking about Humans vs. AI? I don't think AI are advanced enough at this point in the story to start a war.

The thing is if you've studied AI or how to design AI you would know that AI doesn't have to be advanced enough to take it's own decisions. Even a short AI code of 5-10 lines would make decisions on its own because it's an AI. And even if it didn't take any decision at that point, it atleast learnt from its past to not make the same mistake. Yeah, it's not advanced enough but the fact that a war would be there in 100 years proves that AI learnt about its survival to the point that they are now a threat to humanity. The way AI works is it is actually built to act like a human being and learn from its previous mistakes and not repeat them. So, if humans are threatening their existence, AI would definitely make measures for their survival. And in 100 years, the AI is obviously advanced enough to erase the human race completely. You're right but that's just how AI works. Idk... you might already be an AI expert who knows... Lol

Here's what happened: While the bear was showing Vivy the future article, she noticed another future article that reported an entire plane blowing up. One of the people who was on the plane was the girl from the start of ep1. Vivy wants to go save the people on the plane, but the bear stops her, because he doesn't want her to change the timeline more than is necessary.

The why was obvious, but skipping several minutes of content is amateur editing at best. Coupled with Funimation's streaming issues on Apple TV and WebOS puts me off. You say she noticed another article, but that was not shown in my feed. It was handshake, airplane sound, and then her flying into a wall nowhere near where they were. Sloppy.

Really strong start to this series. Wit Studio doesn't disappoint.

That ending was kind of sudden but damn that still hit hard :'(

I hope this gets more attention as the series continues, but I'm concerned the plot could go a little too crazy with the time travel shenanigans which could either be really good or too unnecessarily complex for a lot of people.

Other than the last scene which felt too compressed a whiplash and should've been saved for the next episode, this was quite an intriguing premiere.

I too felt that it should have been built up more and saved for the next episode. However, as a counterpoint, for shows like these (involving time travel gimmicks), there are plenty of individuals who have seen the device of trying to change history to save loved ones and have gotten used to it. I do feel there was a lack of emotion for this character but the audience is able to connect and fill in the dots as to what happened and insert some parts.
Also, I dont hear the bear. All I Hear is King from Seven Deadly sins. Also, I didn't know he was lelouch from Code Geass.

Every season there is an origional anime which has a good beginning but most of the time the ending is disappointing. But we still have hopes, the unpredictable plot is really attractive.

We all know Nagatsuki Tappei who writes enjoyble Re:Zero, but few one knows his another work ,Sigrari ,is a complete trash. However,I still believe in him and Wit Studio. Hope their cooperation can bring us a surprise.

These two advanced episodes are of high level ,especially the music,Kousaki Satoru is god! !The toy bear's seiyuu is Fukuyama Jun,his very fast talking and robot-like intonation are really amusing. Some funny lines with a cold face of Vivy is really intresting. But it's a shame to see the last scene that the little kawaii girl died because of the air crash. She knows the end but doesn't have the ability and permission to change it,that's too sad.In addition it still tells us,it might be an anime with many tears...

This show is fucking gorgeous, that was another really great episode, I really hope it keeps it up. If this show can give me the existential dread that Nier: Automata gave me or even somewhere near it, then this show will be fucking amazing. Vivy and Matsumoto are really great, especially Vivy.

That end scene was pretty sad though damn, but that eye shot was so fucking beautiful. I wonder how Vivy and Matsumoto will see eye to eye, no pun intended. They definitely have clashing beliefs. That kid terrorist that Vivy saved will either be a bigger threat later on or he'll become a supporter of Vivy, I hope it's the latter. Well, this show is exceeding expectations so far, really looking forward to the next episode.

So this is like super simplified and super edgy version of GITS (plus some other famous cyberpunk titles) for teens...still the saving grace is that Jun Fukuyama and Atsumi Tanezaki are doing mazing and a bit crazy voice acting. Also nice visuals.

Hm, kinda weird they give such a sturdy body to a robot with a simple A.I. which programming is just sing.

Also Matsumoto "mission" seems like a fool's errand, sure it's unlikely that most if not all A.I. be it in a robot or not will get "human rights" but IMO it seems unavoidable that someone will make A.I. similar to us, with feelings and being able to suffer, so it's almost guarantee that people eventually will see those as our equals and demand they be treated not as objects but as living beings.

But I guess that's where the show is going, something like beatless, just that instead of the pro-robot side they're showing the anti-robot side.

Totally missed out on the fact there were already 2 episodes out... oops.

I am sold on the setting already. Animation and sound is so phenomenal and I am honestly in love with the characters.

Eventho Vivy/Diva (not sure how I want to call her right now) managed to save that one guy, but damn this journey to prevent a war won't come without sacrifices... OMG that plane scene stings... The one friend Vivy/Diva probably had and Matsumoto didn't allow her to save the little girl. Cause on this 100 year journey, you can't save everyone. That is truth being spoken, but still that hurt.

I wonder how future established events will play out now that Matsumoto is ''adjusting'' the past/timeline.
Will Vivy manage to find a way to repeat incidents again (and again?) so that she can save her first human friend or is will that really the end of the line for the people on that plane?

Wow this exceeded my expectations, amazing start. Shows a lot of promise. Definitely looking forward to the future episodes, hope it won't disappoint. The visuals are stunning, especially the close-ups on her eyes and face when she saved the guy from the rock. I usually don't like characters with not a lot of emotion, even if they're AIs/robots, but I'm already loving Vivy. I also like the bear, his fast way of talking is hilarious. The last few minutes threw me off though, that transition came out of nowhere and I had to go back a few seconds to double-check I somehow missed something. I feel like it would've been better if they just ended it with Vivy shaking hands with the bear and placing the rest after the ending credits.

Really like the almost existential vibe this show has in the first 2 episodes.
What makes a human human? Ghost in the Shell type philosophy.
Does AI deserve death? Can you really consider it human as well?

Also purpose, if the purpose of AI is to serve humans, then what went wrong in the future?
Did AI just get sick of following orders?
This part gave me lot of Nier:Automata vibes.

As a person who works on AI I guess I can try to answer some questions
"What makes a human human? " Consciousness, something which we right now don't how to replicate or even how to define what it means in a scientific way. Some people say basic form of consciousness is knowing that you exist and despite what you may think vivy probably doesnt have that ability, after as specified before in the series its just using programs to pretend to be human
soo I personally thats what makes humans human

"Does AI deserve death?" I dont get what you mean AI is good and helpful
If you mean if AI is slightly harmful should we kill it or give it mercy?
nope nothing unethical about killing a AI if you ever close a game with a chess bot? guess you killed it.

"Can you really consider it human as well?" nope

"if the purpose of AI is to serve humans, then what went wrong in the future?"
<<serve humans>> is vague term and AI wont be able to understand
better goals would be <<cook food for me>> or <<stop global warming>>
so to stop global warming the AI kills all the humans, but there would have precautionary rules like <<stop global harming BUT dont harm humans>> but because the naming law was passed AI has equal rights as humans in the future so since humans don't have precautionary rules It was removed and that caused the war? maybe a computer virus? or a bug.

Did AI just get sick of following orders? does your calculator get sick of calculating stuff? AI is just complex mathematical functions can't sick of stuff if we don't program it to get sick of stuff
