Gotta say, this was pretty weak for a final episode. While I enjoyed this anime enough to rate it a 7/10, I think it had more lows than highs. My biggest problem with Majo no Tabitabi is that they couldn't strike a balance between the chill episodes and the gruesome ones. It was like "here's a cute fluffy SoL episode" and then the next episode would be like "BUCKLE UP, IT'S MURDER TIME!" with violence and gore turned up to eleven, and with there being more of the former than of the latter it felt like this anime didn't know what it wanted to be.
I'm up for a second season of this, but only if they change the director so that it doesn't end up being like the abomination that was this first season.

Some of the episodes were great but I found most of the episodes in the latter half of the anime to be boring. Still a good watch though.

I just want to ask. Elaina goes to somewhere stating that their wishes will come true and afterwards encountering many Elainas with different characteristics. Meaning to say that was connected to what her wish was? And in what context? And who is Amnesia? Sorry, maybe I didn't understand the last episode fully, hooe you'll guide me and sorry for the wrong grammar. Hehe.

Tbh, I really liked this finale. Seems like a fitting end.
Also, it was really interesting to know how Elaina would turn out if she had choose different paths in her life.

The post credit scene kinda made me wish for a second season and to know more about Amnesia.

Well I hope that we do get a second season announcement soon!!

Overall a pretty enjoyable experience!!

Well Elaina's actual wish was to find out how she would have turned out if she had made some different choices in her life. So all those Elaina's there were actually what she would have been if she had followed a different path in her journey.

And about Amnesia, she's probably a character in the Light Novel who Elaina will meet somewhere in the future and travel with her.

Don't forget it adds dark edgy unnecessary gory in EPs 9 (similar to LN but hell it's really gory in anime).
The anime tries to give moral compass but some episode give tons of inconsistencies or nothing about it.

Yuri bait is an absolute mess, almost like a fanservice at this point similar of how LN describe it and I felt like Saya relation with Elaina barely have a point lol.

Amnesia bait? Possible season 2? I'll wait until it happens. Other than that, it's a pretty solid show. It has a good balance between wholesomeness and dark themes (Though I think we had too much lightheartedness this season). While I did enjoy her travels, I can't say the same towards its characters. Every single one is so one-dimensional (with the exception of recurring characters). Guess that's what happens when you create an episodic anime. Elaina can be disagreeable sometimes but I like it, keeps you interested in how it'll affect her character as a whole in future adventures. I'll give this show a 7/10.

I really hope this gets a second season, this was one of the best animes of 2020, no doubt about it, but sadly I can't rate it a 10/10, I mean I want to! But there is a big problem: Saya. I hated her to the very end, what an annoying character she turned out to be, 9/10.
I loved the fact that Evil Elaina was the traumatized Elaina from the end of ep 9, it was amazing. Having lots of Elainas is really a wish come true *w*
The new girl is called Amnesia, and that scared me! it made me think that Elaina is going to have amnesia in the future, and that girl is a reflection of that or something, after all she said "I didn't knew we were going to travel together in the future"... but thankfully it seems I'm wrong xD

And it was supposed to be family friendly show, anime for everyone? I wouldn't say. Also, this annoying yuri fanservice with Saya. I thought that would be all in the previous episode but there was a lot of it in this episode, as well. Overall, the show had its good and bad sides and most likely we'll get the second season soon.

I have a mix feeling about the finale episode. I get that this episode focused on Elaina who was trying to comfort the part of herself that cant rescue all the people that she had met in her journey. But for me, the finale should be focusing on Elaina travel to another new country and meet new people because that is the premises of this entire series. Nevertheless, I give this series 8/10 because it is one of my favourite series for this fall.
There is a possibility that this series would get a second season because of its end scene.

That was a really good final episode imo. It addressed a lot of issues many people had with Elaina and her lack of concern or empathy for people and situations that she faced on her journeys, her carefree nature and almost arrogant disregard for others.

It seems on meeting all the different versions of herself, that she indeed did have many misgivings and did feel sympathy for others, but she knew when best to leave alone and that alone she can't change all ills in the world. And that a version of her was deeply hurt every time she came across a tragic situation. At least that was what i felt the Violent Me was trying to say, "why weren't you more upset" and "how could you carry on whilst people were suffering". No one, not even a skilled witch can magically resolve every situation she comes across.

Elaina has a fairly stoic attitude i think, she helps where she can, as in many of the stories in this series, but she's realistic and knows when to move on, although we now learn that she isn't uncaring, but she tries not to let all the hurt and sadness she comes across on her journey affect her on an emotional and personal level.

It was interesting to see that amongst the versions of Elaina were 3 that liked girls (she said to Violent Me that each of them yearned for something that the others had & they were all versions of her, clearly indicating her preference for women), so i think we can say fairly certainly that she won't be having kids when she's older, maybe she'll settle down with Saya. And looking on her actions o ver the series I don't think she's ever expressed an interest in a guy in a romantic way or even mentioned it.

This show wasn't quite what i was expecting, but I've really enjoyed it & scored it a 9/10, the way her travels were animated along with the places and people were as fun to watch as Elaina. Hoping we get a second season.

Despite the absurdity of this episode (most episodes of the series are), I really thought it was a great one. The fight animation beats most battle fantasy anime out there, which is a feat, considering how Majotabi isn't even a battle fantasy anime.

The Elainas were really fun. Most of them were overly comical, but funny in the right ways.

Can't believe it's over! This was a rather fun ride. There's hope for a second season, so I'll eagerly look forward to it. <3

I think that was a really good way to end this season with the multiple Elaina's. It was also a pretty hilarious episode with those same multiple Elaina's. The fucking Russian Elaina killed me. This is my anime of the season definitely, though it could have definitely been even better depending on the stories they adapt or the way they adapted them but, I still really liked what they gave us.

And since there's only 3 volumes translated so far, I think I am going to go ahead and start reading the novel while they're still translating it. I don't have time to binge multiple volumes lmao so, now's a good time to start.

I hope that tease at the end is a sure season 2, like c'mon don't tease us like that if your not going to announce a season 2.

And of course props to Hondo Kaede, Elaina's VA. She better get paid for every Elaina she voiced lmao.

It ended with a very fitting episode, due to its episodic nature it's given that not all episode would be good, some will be bad but it doesn't affect the show that much.
Majo no Tabitabi is chilling and enjoyable anime, Elaina is a great character and a very likable protagonist, it's a fun ride hope season 2 will come asap, will be missing this anime a lot.

It's fitting that the series ends with an episode where the self-centered sociopath is surrounded by clones of herself all waiting on her hand and foot.. They literally put her on a throne. It's also fitting that it takes half of the episode to explain that there are a bunch of clones of her, each with some gimmick. And it's absolutely on point that it turns out that it was all just a dream. Who doesn't love it when nothing actually happened, nothing meant anything, and nobody learned anything from it? You also have to love the incredibly bizarre attempt at a cliffhanger. "By the way, I also bumped into some random person, and you'll never believe what happened next!" Elaina, you started the purge, helped murder multiple entire kingdoms, and have been an apologist for slavery and abuse. You may be correct that I won't believe what happened next, but for all the wrong reasons.

Not bad, I thought the last story would be darker with that Evil Elaina but after she met all the other me(mes), I understood it'd a light & funny episode. Sure was yeah, a bit confusing on some points but not bad either.

Pretty good show overall, with some very extreme difference of tone between one episode and another. Episode 2-3-9 were very dark & creepy for example, with very funny & peaceful episodes such as the one where she met the 2 villages fighting over wine production, or episode 10 about Fran & Sheilla's meeting.

Enjoyable overall, very pleasant & entertaining on some points : 8/10

I barely can stand one Elaina yet this final episode had the nerve to introduce sixteen more versions of her... and Saya didn't even show up this time. Man, what an "one in a lifetime" opportunity she missed.

And so it concludes. Honestly, I had some good expectations about this series before it aired but sadly, it ended up being a notorious disappointment. The direction it wanted to take was never clear and as a result, it ended up feeling like I was witnessing a game of russian roulette regarding the tone each episode would have. Sometimes the series tried to be lighthearted, others it tried to be goofy or plain stupid with its execution and of course, there were also episodes which tried (and failed) to be dark and tense. Not to mention that most of the stories presented left a lot to be desired in terms of development or overall execution, which resulted in them being rather shallow or just too simplistic for me to care.

Now, as for Elaina, I never connected with her as main protagonist. Her personality was far too unlikable and her way of acting (or not acting in some occasions) was portrayed in a pretty inconsistent way. Not willing to warn a city about flowers that turn people into zombies because "it's not her problem" (it was) but willing to attack a king and steal his magical sword in order to help another witch she had only met that same day. That kind of stuff.

To be honest, the only reason I didn't rate this show lower was because of its impressive production values. Was already expecting breathtaking backgrounds and scenography but the highly consistent animation during the many action sequences sure took me by surprise. In the end, the only aspect in Majo no Tabitabi I found truly stunning.

4/10 - Not really interested in a second season honestly.

This last episode was really lighthearted
no force drama no cliches as simple as this and good way to end season 1 knowing more about herself. Also she's love herself so much that she wished for more of her lmao. Who didnt love to see more Elaina's.

Overall, anime was great and pretty unique show. Didnt follow standard anime format in storytelling and pacing. Elaina was very likeable MC has self awareness and had pretty realistic approach of whats happening around her also very beautiful as she always says lol.

So theres a Elaina in other timeline that obsess to Saya

This is my top 3 this season
I will be bias on my score because i love Elaina
So 10/10

I hope for Season 2

Man, what an awesome show this was, at the beginning i was really skeptical about this, but turned out to be something really entertaining with a wide range of loveable characters! Story had its own progression, Elaina's adventures through diverse places, learning new things about the world around her and different realities as well, but felt like an episodic show as well, with each episode having its own case. Elaina's character development was quite concise and great to follow and that was what got me so much into this anime too, so i guess i can say it was also a character driven show. Fucking episode 9 dude, that really caught me off guard, wasn't expecting something like that at all in a show with a really chill atmosphere like this one, and imo, was the episode that really stroke the biggest of impressions on me.

Well done C2C! For such a great surprise! 8/10

I enjoyed the first half so much that i even forgot that it was the same VA who voiced all "characters" xD Elaina's VA did a fantastic job!
It was like Elaina settle her inner problems and doubts with herself, it was great but what about that ending.

I mean, she finally found the name for the book but that book swap, what it was supposed to mean? Like she basically gave her whole adventure to her, even tho we know that they will travel in the future, but when? how? At least some hints? And the fact that her name is Amnesia and she looks very similar to Elaina, makes me think that it wasn't random.

But still, we don't know anything.
I think this anime had it's ups and downs, more than i expected for sure. The episode 3 still bothers me today, the way she acted when at the next episode she was already helping everyone, like make your mind.
I for sure wouldn't mind a 2S just to see how this will all end, and who knows a redemption for the 3rd episode? That would be great!

Sad that there wasn't any more Saya but i guess it is what it is. I get it that the last episode was focused on her but i wish we have seen more of the other characters.

Well, I had a fun ride. I guess one of my only gripes is how oddly they portrayed anything with girlxgirl vibes. It almost always came off as creepy, obsessive, and sometimes incestual. Like, I can't even really get a good idea of how the creators really feel about such relationships, but I enjoyed watching the show anyway.

This last episode just killed the entire serie for me. It reveals that everything thing that happened so far did not really happen with the "Protagonist", happened with some of the various white haired girls (or at least something like that, we cannot really say what happened to Protagonist girl and what did not).
For example: everything thing that happened in episode 9 results in "Violent Eleina", Violent's cliche phrases like "When you do not have the power and bla bla" is the same type of phrase that the Elaina of episode 9 says after getting back from the past. So it evidences that episode 9 Elaina is the Violent. Plus, the anime had a misinterpretation of the novel. In the Novel, if you search, Protagonist Elaina will say that she did not time travel like Violent did.
That is: Elaina does not have any character development, the same Elaina of episode 1 is the Elaina of episode 12. What we see in the show is a "What if" story (or at least most are, like I said, we cannot really know) of things that happened with any of the multiple Elainas and not our "Protagonist Elaina".
It makes everything easy to write if you do not have to do a connection of the story and just write various and sorties stories.

What are you talking about? Everything happened to Protag Elaina. All of the alt Elainas are just Protag Elaina with one small change that altered her person/personality. That was the point of Protag Elaina's wish, what *could* have happened, so everything aside from the small change is going to be the same story as Protag Elaina.

Protag Elaina did time travel in episode 9, she just did it *after* the doll town whereas Violent Elaina went to the time travel town first and the doll town second which left her too shell-shocked to deal with the Ripper and get her hair back. This is why Protag Elaina says "Your journey was very different than mine".

If that's the case then it's not a misinterpretation but a complete reworking of the story. The anime would have had to retroactively insert an entire episode about the time travel town. I've never read the LN so I can't say if it's for better or worse. *shrug*

So Kino's journey light comes to an end. Was a pretty decent final episode for the season. I always appreciate a good title drop reference like that. Show had potential and some episodes really worked (like the princess one). A lot of others felt like they would have worked much better with a slower pacing. And some kinda felt like Kino would have done this concept way better (looking at you land where no one lies). It was a pretty decent ride anyway, and having random magic battles with nice visuals is cool sometimes.

Well that was a wild and wacky end for sure lol. I loved it, she met so many of herself, each with their own story and journey, as if she was at a point where alternative timelimes could meet one another, and it was handled really well honestly.

Gonna miss this series, though might just read the manga now.

I'd suggest reading the LN instead. It has a better sense of storytelling than the manga. The manga is kinda doing its own route right now. While the anime does change some stuff here and there, I thought it was quite decent in terms of adapting stuff, though some of the much stronger story segments were missed out on for the sake of a more manageable audience, in which the staff did try their best to work with, despite what many of the doubters here say otherwise.

I don't like judging shows based on fidelity and parallelism to source material, anyways, personally, cause that'd be just more unnecessary nitpicking.

When intellectual Elaina said, "you have no personality, so you can be whatever you want to be. It’s perfect for a protagonist”, I actually broke into laughter after what felt like so long. It was as though the writers recognised that Elaina is literally the most insipid protagonist for a story revolving around exploring a vast fantastical world.

Throughout this whole series I found myself hating Elaina more and more, from the weird narcissistic tendencies (that the writers even reinforced in certain scenes) to the inconsistent motives. I felt like she was overall just really flat, to the point where I saw literally no noticeable development from episode to episode.

Another problem with the show was the fact that it was trying to tackle these dark scenes, but the setting and characters just didn't seem like ones you would find in a dark fantasy world. Worst of all, the majority of these "dark" and "dreary" story lines felt rather predictable in your stereotypical modern fantasy story.

Overall, I found myself disenchanted with this anime. While it was not horrible by any means, it was just so disappointing on many fronts. I can see its appeal, and that is totally okay, but for me, it just did not sit well with what I was expecting after starting. Definitely will not give the Light Novels a read nor will I watch any other media related to this if it ever gets renewed.
Have a great day!
