Endorsi and Hwa-Ryun in the same episode is a blessing and that alone makes it worth watching.

Adaptation was okay, I didn't cross check with the manga but it does feel like they left out information regarding roles and the guardians or maybe that comes later, not sure.

thats stealing in my eyes

you cant just force someone to take a bet and then expect them to follow the rules of it

if bam wasnt a wimp he would actually fight anaak for it

what he did was really unfair to yuri

this show at it's current stage still feels far too fan fiction-ish of other shounen works but the ending for once had me intrigued on top of the layers of unclear mentioning's of things this show has been piling on from the start it leaves you with a lot of desire to learn what the hell anything means in this world and i can't tell if it's due to the anime or not since it appears their leaving things out (from what readers have said) which seems like a bad call since a vast majority of events that unfold are hardly explained till a new one pops up and thus the previous question is forgotten lol.

also anyone noticed the paint level pixel on Rachel's freckles in one of the shots of her was like wait that looks like someone just did those in paint !

"If we're together, we'll become each other's weakness". Reminds me of Hancock LOL...

The terms for the different positions in this show sound pretty cool... I don't know if that has anything to do with it being manhwa or not but definitely feels unique. Another unique thing is the magic, shinsu, having administrators and contracts.

Good ep, excited to see where this goes.

Can someone explain me why the guy that was stabbed in the back by Khun in the last episode (and presumably hit by his falling knives as there is no way they would have all missed) was perfectly fine and already fighting in the new test while Bam had to stay in bed for 5 days for a concussion? Am I missing something?

Finally Androssi said her name. I already know who she is, I haven't read the webtoon but I've read lots of spoilers online. Many people online keep saying she's best girl and I hope it's because she's badass and not some simple reason like her
because that would be fucking stupid.

I'm glad that we got to see more of the other characters. I'm really liking Shibisu. He is as clever or perhaps even more clever than Khun since he doesn't seem strong but he is able to think his way through things. He helped his team pass through that door test, after all.

In the webtoon it was not a bet it was a forced rule added to the game, I don't know the reason for the change.

So far the anime seems promising. Endorsi pretty cute and i alrdy hate Rachel for stealing Rak chocolate fucking bitch. Another reason prolly thanks to the fans hyping this shit up and throwing some spoilers or hint here and there. The action animation this episode is disappointing tho. Onward to next episode next week.

and its not like i hate tower of god because its korean
just recently watched the trailer of "god of highschool" and it looked amazing

I haven't read this part of the source material yet, but it seems like they're really rushing through this training sequence. The whole thing seems to be all over the place. The female characters plus the dude with the freckles are fine, but everyone else hasn't really done much for me yet. I'm liking Endorsi, and she's made me smile a lot more than Rak and his chocolate/turtle "humor." My biggest gripe though is that I'm just not really getting the whole tower thing and how it all actually works.

This is just the testing floor and no one can advance the tower unless the pass the testing floor. This will not change until season 2 because the prologue/season 1 revolves around this floor

Yeah, I get that. I just mean the whole presentation, or lack thereof, of the Tower so far just isn't doing it for me at all. I do hope that you're right, because spending a lot of time on this floor developing the protags' skills would be a positive in terms of storytelling and character development.

Yes Anaak asked him to make this rule after he grabs her weapon. Commenting on how Rankers doing the test can add rules, and really showing how much respect the Rankers have. As even Anaak and her power cannot challenge them yet.

It most likely will, but it depends on how well it does. This is one of the first Crunchyroll/Webtoon collabs so theres probably a good chance that there will be a season two. Also, theres alot of source material that can be animated and in sure that after hyping it up so muhc we arent going to get only a single season.

Fisherman - tank/fighters
Spearbearer - long range attack/damage dealer
Lightbearer - support (stuns enemies)
Scout - assassins (jungle/assist fisherman)
Wave controller - mage/damage dealer

I personally love Wave controllers since they are unpredictable and their shinsoo attack depends on their power to control it.

Oh yeah, i play MLBB. 😂

King Jahad is a fisherman. Most of high rankers are fisherman. 😉

I have no idea what are talking about. People do talk about the bad side of MHA especially Season 3 and 4. Season 3 story were fine, but the worst part was the opening song done by uverworld were clearly out of sync with the animation and autotune yet people hype for no reason calling it good op. People praised uverworld when they don't even know about the better song they did in the past without autotune. As for S4, problem with adaptation pacing issue and overused flashbacks.

Is this the new SAO because it certainly reeks off it.

I just don't get the appeal. I mean, SAO was worse and all but at least I could understand in theory why people were drawn to it. This all around feels like those amateurish Chinese anime in terms of writing.

It actually reminds me a lot of HxH's Hunter Exam arc and Alice in Borderland, just... bad. The episode itself also didn't help matters whatsoever. It's nigh impossible to care about the princess/weapon conflict at all. The part at the dinner table was more interesting than that for actually letting characters interact organically.

They cut the scene when Lauroe taught Bam to form a Shinsu-ball (?) for the first time. That's an important scene in my opinion. Why? Because it tells you how difficult it is to control Shinsu.

Yeah yeah, Bam is the main character and thus he's predetermined to be a talented person and he can use whatever power as he pleases without many explanation beforehand. But hell... When you're being considered as a weakling and able to form a Shinsu ball then got acknowledged by a Phonsekal family member - who is literally born as a Wave Controller - left a huge impression as a character for Bam and those around him.

Conclusion? Go read the f*cking source material, guys...

My thought exactly. They are forcing this into the usual trope where mc uses overwhelming powers and doesn't know how to use it the next episode. Bam's attack on Hwaryun wasn't even that showy in source material.

I feel much like you do. A lot of the storytelling, feels...stiff for the lack of a better word. There's a lot of characters running around that feel like pieces in a board, but without much of character. So far it's really only Khun that I feel like "real". Bam is a self insert avatar at this point. And there' s waaaay too much exposition on the tower itself and the princesses and such. I'd like to see more and hear less, and be more blown away with a sense of wonder.
I want to keep on watching because a lot of people rave about the source material, and there's plenty of series that have started off slow and become something special later on. But it's gonna be hard with the series fanboys mercilessly policing the threads, cracking down on dissenting views and vociferously demanding people drop the show if they even breathe a negative word about it. Reminds me of Fate fans in the early days.

Edit for spelling.

Maybe that is how anime is directed. I only watch anime(don't read manga) but I got curious and went ahead and start reading the webtoon. Anime and manga are completely different as to how to grab the viewers attention. The webtoon showed a great detail in explaining the world, character description, their actual thoughts, and a lot more additional info. But in anime, it is more like giving the viewer a sense of mystery and then catching up to it.

They might elaborate about the princesses at a later episode. My assumption is that the anime has it's own story progression by inculcating all of the info from the webtoon.

I won't argue that the art on those parts could use an improvement, but you have to remember that is was in the early chapters. The art kept on improving.

Except that part is important though? It shows that Bam could use shinsu without an equipment despite not being from Ten Great Families. The anime is weirder. He used a large amount of shinsu and practically no one talked about it except the examiner. (Which is also on the webtoon)

Omg, I loved this episode

Khun isn't having it with Rachel at all lmfao, like cut the bs fake bish I know what you're up to. Khun is just as possessive of Bam though lol

I can't pick any favourites I pretty much like all the characters wow... Anaak is portrayed how I envisioned her and I like Hatz even more in the animation... also hory shet it's getting intense with that ending battle wow.. I'm addicted now I hope they make a 2nd season too since there's SOOOOO much source material and they're barely gone through the tower. I'm sad because Ho though D:

Probably only a little thing but I wish they would just say Baam instead of Yoru since that seems too translated idk, Baam also sounds more affectionate.

Fcking lol tho:

I am talking about a specific scene. But in retrospect, it makes sense they didn't put it. We've seen enough of Baam the monster now so we know. Besides, the flow of the classes would have been wrecked I guess. But it doesn't mean a certain character can do it in a later episode which.... i am not sure is going to be shown as it has become a little irrelevant now.

Fair, I don't remember if it was that important in the webtoon though, I was thinking you were talking about his shinsoo scenes which become more relevant during the team matches iirc. They're still in like pre-lim so nothing fancy has happened yet lol

It's becoming very interesting, I like it ! I'm a bit confused though, "Anaak" isn't Anaak but Anaak's daughter, right ? And Khun said that Anaak's dead ? But her daughter said it's her husband who died... I think I didn't pay enough attention.
Other than that, I'm starting to understand why is Khun so popular, I'm liking him more and more. Rachel, in opposition, seems to be portrayed as quite a toxic person right ? Interesting.

"IT GETS BETTER I SWEAR" barely ever happens at all actually. Especially at this point.

I think it is more your fault for believing in the hype, as a manwha/webtoon reader I would say this series doesn't become great until the last dozen chapters of the first season, the first couple of chapters were mediocre at best (until I realized what they were trying to do).

I always thought that was the general consensus between most readers. I nearly dropped the series a couple of chapters from now because I thought I knew where the series was going, but I read a few dozen more and found out that I was really off the mark.

This might be an unpopular opinion (and a controversial comparison), but I didn't think HunterXHunter was a good show until the Heaven's Arena arc, I even dropped it a few times in the Hunter Exam. The arcs were filled with cliches and while the fights were good I didn't find the characters interesting or engaging. Though after they revealed the battle system I started to realize that the show had the potential to be great, so I kept watching. However, I firmly believe that this first season (at least the first season in the webtoon) is better than the first 13 episodes of HunterXHunter, for reasons I can't explain without spoiling Tower of God.

For those who dislike Bam, you are right to dislike him. Bam is like Gon in a way, everyone complains about his naivety to the world around him but at a certain point in the story you realize that he was created like that for a reason (Unlike Gon, Bam actually grows emotionally).

Luckily enough for you guys, the end of the first season is an event many consider to be one of the best parts of series (including me). So don't listen to the fans calling you uncultured or the hype-beasts that are saying that the anime is a masterpiece, this anime isn't a show that everyone will like, and if you still don't like the show after the plot-twist in the finale then perhaps it's not the show for you.

Anaak, Endorsi, Hatz = fishermen
Rak = spearbearer
Khun and Rachel = lightbringer
Shibisu = scout
Baam, Lauroe, Hwaryun = wave controller.

Hatsu is scout i think. He doesnt get the same training course like Anaak and Endorsi and getting same task as Shibisu

I think it is more your fault for believing in the hype

There really isn't anything in my post suggesting that I believed in the hype. On the contrary, I fully expected this to be underwhelming and that's what I got.

As I've said before, source material loyalists praising anything getting an adaptation above and beyond is the norm and after 10 years of following seasonal anime, you just don't buy into any sort of hype anymore unless you're familiar with someone's aligning tastes.

The 4 strongest characters in universe are all men (well pentaminum is unknown). If anything this story implies that women are often deceitful and manipulative and that gender is irrelevant to being strong.

The reason theres princesses and not princes is because the dude in charge is a guy and not a woman.

wow, Hoh seems like such a nice guy.

I read this episode in the manhwa a few days ago. It's interesting to see what changes when its adapted.

I was just wondering: are all the instructors people who have climbed the tower succesfully? What's the difference between Lero Ro and the guy who moderated the "door" test?

there was nothing fair and square about this bet she literally threatened his life if he wouldnt accept it

thats stealing in my eyes

you cant just force someone to take a bet and then expect them to follow the rules of it

if bam wasnt a wimp he would actually fight anaak for it

what he did was really unfair to yuri

In the webtoon it was not a bet it was a forced rule added to the game, I don't know the reason for the change.

They did convert it into a forced rule after Bam agreed to it in the anime

Yes, all the people who are administering the tests are rankers. The difference between Leroro and Hansung is that the latter is the superior of the former. Basically, Hansung is in charge of all the tests on the 2nd floor and he delegates administering some of those tests to other rankers, like Leroro or Quant (red haired guy who screwed up team Rachel's first test). The positions instructors are, let's say, hired to evaluate, train and prepare the regulars for the upcoming final test.
