I'm trying so hard not to get emotionally attached to Hitomi and Yuito because there are a lot of reasons why it may not work out (the "grandpa" theory being the most popular) but God freaking darn it, I can't help it!

They're just so, SO perfect for each other that even though there are signs of tragic flags everywhere, I still choose to continue it.

Yosh, full steam ahead on this ship that's doomed to sink (I still hope not though)!

P.S.: I never thought I'd desperately wish for an anime to have a source material because God, I really, really, REALLY want to know the ending now. It's so painful to wait week by week. ;-;

i feel like even though they're from different timelines they'll do something to stay together, like,
maybe she'll stay in the past, or take him to the future..
i hope she gets to see colors normally soon.

and also, that damn scenery and plot. i'm honestly loving this

It's so blatantly trying to appeal to empathy. as if that would change my mind and decide to go out and have relationships with people.

This is literally Abe's propaganda 2.0 of "marry and reproduce". You have to be denser than a harem protag if you can't see this.
>I had no brain when I was 12
>Then everyone must had no brain when they were 12
>I experimented 100 samples and proved that they had no brain when they were 12
>Therefore children cannot consent

This is what science has done to humanity.

Outstanding visuals as usual.
I like the OP and the ED is not bad either.
I really like the character interactions in this anime and I look forward to see how Hitomi will develop as a character.

I am looking forward to this series. Hopefully it doesn't fall flat. Even with or as a cliche, if it's well executed, I might buy into it.

One thing that have been bothering me is the MC's nose... She looks fine from the side, but I can't really get used to it? Yet I kind of like her style; matter a fact, I like the character design of most of the characters~

I am even more interested for this story! Art and animation are wonderful as last episode, hope this stay like that until the end! I love how i get addicted of watching this!

Hitomi is really shy, but its normal, i i really like how calm she is and cute! Other characters were really funny to meet them, they are really sympatic and well disposed! Yuito looks he is really reserved and only wants to draw, but i think Hitomi will change that!

I am waiting for more of this beautiful and fantastic show! Art and Story are satisfying me a lot!

Good episode.

The visuals are absolutely stunning. Some of the shots are just breathtaking, like wow especially that rooftop one with the sunset, like damn.

The characters seem nice, kinda warmed up to the gang. I initially took issue with Yuito putting Hitomi on spot like that but after the rooftop scene I can see that he's a real nice guy at heart.

Loved the final scene with Hitomi trying out her magic.

Grandma is looking good in her youth, hope we see her soon. XD

Ahhhhh that ED. Nagi Yanagi never disappoints.

There still isn't much to say about this show besides its magical animation and art style, but I did appreciate the lukewarm reception the MC got from her class. Despite her being considered physically attractive within universe, the show doesn't play the cheap "OMG THIS TRANSFER STUDENT IS SO BEAUTIFUL" card with all the guys fawning over her and girls getting annoyed. Granted, the show does provide a good reason that explains this sort of reaction, but its just another little detail that makes this show all the more respectable. Similar to how they gave up the obvious opportunity for an accidental pervert moment in the first episode.

I also appreciate that the guy acts like a normal person would towards a stranger who just got caught entering and leaving his house, despite the fact that the stranger happens to be a beautiful girl. Once again, respectable writing.

Though one thing that does weird me out is how casually adults are treating this whole situation. I get that they are magicians, but aren't they taking time travel a bit too lightly? "Oh, you got sent back in time for an unknown purpose without anyway to get back? Dont sweat the little details, you should worrying about going to school instead!" Unless they are also familiar with time travel magic (which doesn't seem to be the case), this feels like the writers not wanting to deal with writing a plausible scenario for putting the MC in a high school and hand-waving the issue altogether.

I kinda wish we got a little more first-person POV cuts from Hitomi's colorless perspective; rather than having a few sparse shots with the woosh sound transition. The background art and color design are gorgeous as fuck and shouldnt be taken for granted.

Pretty quiet and slow anime. Have to say though, none of the characters particularly stand out.

Can't wait for her granny to come back, something important obviously happens then. So important that her granny decides that it is absolutely critical to prepare that whatever thing to bask in the moonlight for 60 years, just so she can send her granddaughter back in time.
If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Yeah, no character really stands out, it ends up being like Kimi no na wa and other movies like that where you don't really know much about anyone and no one is really that special.

Perhaps, but it's important to note that the critical difference is that Kimi no Na Wa has far far fewer characters. Also Kimi no Na Wa is shorter and you likely finish it in one go. You just don't get the "Wait who's this guy again?" quite as often with a short length movie with less characters.

I think you missed something, there was no personality shift, you know her for like one episode and she is pretty much the same in the second.
(the only difference was that she was pretty much lost and now she knows a tiny bit more about the place she is) .

HA... this is why i hate people who loses their mind just because of good visual and cute "realistic" anime girl, but in reality it is not even close to good chatacterization.
What i mean about personality shift is,
Yuito is introduced as someone who strict, cold, and too serious. When he talk to stranger, and teased by his friend, his reaction is way too serious and seems not interested to make any more friends, or befriend he even look not interested when he talk to his friend.
He even manage to bitch slap hitomi in public and did not say anything afterward make the situation not comfortable.

then Hitomi come to him only want to look to the picture again, and guess what what he said? some awkward shit like he want to hit her up or something that i did not believe it come from this type of character.

then about Hitomi "i hate magic" turn 180° in a sec is so bad. The narrative doesnt really trying to portraying what the characters thought and the reason behind it.

The beauty of causal time loops is that sending granddaughter back in time is easily explained by grandma knowing it'll turn out great because she already seen it turning great 60 years ago.

And it was so great that she was sufficiently motivated to spend next 60 years working so that her granddaughter could experience it.

One thing I'm loving about this show is the art, it is completely on point. It immediately fills me with warm, peaceful vibes.
The show seems to be slow, and that is something I appreciate, as I can see the characters developing over time better and I personally feel more connected with them.

Hitomi seems to be a well made character, and I really like how genuine her personality feels, and how easy it is to see through her. I'm not sure how they will approach her relationship with Yuito, but I hope it doesn't turn out to be a weird "he is your grandpa" thing. This said, given there are only three main characters listed, I'd say it is very possible. She'll most likely join the club, getting closer to the members, and maybe using the club to develop her magic, somehow.
On the other hand, I'm not very sure about how I feel towards Yuito character. I think he is purposely being characterised in a slower way, and we'll only have further developments on his character when Kohaku returns. Still, the last scene was lovely, with him asking Hitomi to see her magic again, and understanding he made her do something she wasn't comfortable with.

I'll keep my 7/10 for now, as the show seems to have potential to be quite good.

I have a feeling that this anime is going to capture my heart <3 The visuals are wonderful and there is already a relationship that is under construction between the main girl Hitomi with Yuito. Lovely episode! Very simple and I am already in love with this ^-^

It's already starting to capture mine.

I loved the scene on the rooftop when Yuito tells her that her magic was special. I think it is allegory for when you don't feel good about yourself and then you meet someone who sees something special in you for the first time (outside of family).

I think the series is just very subtle in many ways, and people should take more time to pay attention to the underlying themes. I rarely find male characters interesting, but I think Yuito is my favorite in character in this series so far. He's cynical but thoughtful, based on his experiences in life so far. He has a real history, which makes him appealing. All of the characters seem to have potential depth and weight, so I am really excited to see where they all go.

The whole thing feels so weird for me because whoever gets shipped in the end it will be incredible awkward the moment she goes back into her timeline.
Imagine she falls in love with one of the guys and than she goes back to find the person still alive but an old grandpa (or -ma) because of the 60 year difference.
Same thing goes if she stays back in time and ends at the same spot 60 years later.
The whole setting is just set up to end up weird any way you slice it.

It was also weird the way her looking at the picture was directed. The first time she looked at the picture we got the highlight of the show so far and now we didn't even get to see the picture?

The most beautiful scene was the direction for the rooftop before she goes out when they use the flash of the sunlight to change between the color and uncolored world. That was simply elegant.

The main girl and the main guy are okay but I think the other characters are really annoying. They just like to create drama. But it did have a emotional response?
Her gaining and losing the ability to see colors hits pretty close to home on what a lot of people say about depression.

What I mean is that due to the lack of character exploration; they give us no real idea of an actual character past 'she is depressed'. This leaves an uninteresting husk of a character that somebody can project themselves onto. The fact that they keep the source of her depression and her dislike for magic vague, supports the idea that they want to have the viewer project themselves onto her, similar to how harem protagonists are bland 'nice guy's'.

The example of the colours is just an example of what I call: 'second hand feelings'. That you feel bad about something because you've been through the same thing or can imagine doing so, not because you genuinely care about the character. A good anime will let you experience those emotions as if you're going through it even though you're not, or at least as if it's a close friend going through it.

Furthermore, if you take the loss of colours as a metaphor for depression, the fact that a good drawing is all it took for her to see them again feels cheap, as if PA Works just really wanted to show off how beautiful they can make an anime without regard for the story and themes. Similarly, the fact that they put the MC in a boy's room arbitrarily to force some drama, makes it seem like a generic RomCom than any serious attempt at exploring depression.

TL;DR I don't think that it has earned my emotional investment and so far I can't see any indication that they'll handle the themes well.

Hitomi realizes that she could see colors in some Aoi's drawings. Finally she came back home and eventually got enrolled in school. It´s time for her to go to school and socialize while she waits for Kohaku to arrive. There she met with the guys that helped her when she was lost and convinced her to use magic, unfortunately the only thing she could do is a little shine. Finally she go and met the guys at their club and asks for Aoi, by the evening she found him in the rooftop and they both shared their skills, Aoi his drawings for her (so she can see colors) and Hitomi her magic for him (new and interesting for him).

Beautiful episode, a ton of things happended in pro of building up the story. Obviously Hitomi is not that good at magic, so she is frustrated about it, but if is needed to use magic to discover why she can see colors through Aoi's drawings, she's gonna do it. Shou's personality is very mature, hope he could help her.

This show takes me from one high to the next. From the non-sensical magic system to absolute boredom, because of the generic characters. I mean yeah the visuals look pretty, but I feel like half of them are pointless and don't add anything to the show, like what is the point of two shots of paintbrushed in close proximity to one another ? Tbh. YagaKimi is much better in terms using it's visuals as an enhancement for the story.
