wow...

the OP is terrible.. were those real people hands?

Did these people forget how to draw their characters? The sound is is bad, the animation is bad, the art is bad. That doesn't even look like Jose-san....

Different voice actors...

dissappointing!!!!!!!!!!

For the animation studio who brought us Mushishi, I was expecting a little better (though I don't remember Mushishi having much action sequences). Henrietta and Claes look all right under the new character design, but Rico and especially Triela. Of course there's also the new voices may take a few episodes to get used to, especially the men (Guiseppe can get away with it but Hillshire sounds too young to me). While the new OP and ED are nice, they just can't beat The Light Before We Land and Dopo il Sogno.

It's only the first episode, but I am disappointed that the noir feel has gone by the wayside. I'll keep watching though, who knows, maybe things will get better but expectations remain low.

I totally agree, I had to think that I was watching the same anime, the eyes of the girls are bigger, not as good as the first series..

The first episode is horrible. No way around it. Nothing really happens. Poor drawing, worse animation. Long still shots where they move the camera around - maybe they were thinking that if you got seasick, you wouldn't notice how bad it was. The next few episodes aren't much better, but if you can stick it out until episode 7, it gets to "okay". Still not good, but okay.

There are two types of anime - almost as good as Elfen Lied, and not as good as Elfen Lied.

Distractingly poor animation and sound seem to have ruined whatever content was in this episode. The whole atmosphere feels different from the first season, especially with the girls doing 'cute things' which really feels out of place.

I'm probably going to force myself to finish this series though, as a huge fan of the first season.

I actually didn't find it that bad except for Rico i though it was a whole different person not only how she looked but also how she acted.

My reactions:
- WTF HAPPEN TO THE ANIMATION!?
- Eh... the music is pretty dam awesome compared to the first season.
- Is it just me or Triela is the only one that looks the same?
- So I guess Ange did die...?

seems many people have been disappointed by season 2.
still i prefer season 1, but i like this season too. it's not too bad.
one thing season 2 superior than 1 is that Triela is more prettier :3

The animation is so nice imo! I like how this first episode started. Henrietta being over obsessive as always.

Just finished watching season 1 and then started season 2 and I was blown away, in a bad way.

The whole feeling I got from the first season is gone. It's like I watched 13 episodes of Monster and then 1 Episode of Haruhi Suzumiya, while saying it's the same anime.

The opening was horrible. I couldn't concentrate on listening to the music because the opening wasn't even animated. It was a bunch of pictures edited together in a video editing program to make it look meaningful. I would accept the opening as an ending, but something like that being called an opening. sigh

The ending, when it started was horrible. It was like 10 seconds of blinding white light before anything happened. Even then the overly bright whiteness still consumed about 80% of the screen while small slideshows were being presented.

The still images during crowd sequences were horrible. They literally just got a picture of something going on, added some effects and shook it. They did this multiple times.

So many of the character's personalities changed. Henrietta would never go into Jose's room without his permission. Let alone smother herself in his possessions and then open a present on top of the table without him knowing. The only character that felt natural from this episode was Triela.

Not much of a fan of the new animation and character designs. It seems like season 2 is going for the direct opposite of what season 1 was.

I actually liked Rico's changes, but the new ED just isn't what the old one was and they botched Henrietta and Jose, and that's what's really unforgivable. And the cool gun designs, that's gone too. =*(

Gonna keep watching though, still has potential

Watched episode 1. Almost dropped it right away. Had to give myself a day to put some distance between season 1 (which was awesome and I begged my gf to see and she was really impressed) and season 2 (which is a lesser show in every way and made me seem like some kind of creepy perv).
I've gone and read reviews which say season 2 is worth watching for the story alone, if you can get past the horrible animation (waaay too bright and cheery and Moe), and the boring dialogue.

Still can't believe how much of a drop off in quality i'm watching! .. Soo angry.

Having finished this season, and seen some of the overviews of what happens, the characters changes actually make sense.

After reading what happens, then it now makes sense to see Henrietta being obsessive over Jose, and Rico's extreme childishness.

Finish this season if you can then go read the overview of the mangas.

Why did they make Laura Bailey to change her Henrietta voice? First season was nice, this season's was not the voice I fell in love with. I'm gonna reluctantly march on to the 2nd episode only because some people said the story is just as good if not better than the 1st season. Triela's appearance seemed like she had the least change, Henrietta looks way too moe'd, seriously Artland is trying too hard with having all the girls all moe'd up(Triela's was the most tolerable, besides the eyes can't tell I think she got a bit lighter though).

Wow, this was quite the stylistic change compared to the first season, but given how there were five years between the first and second season it is understandable. To be honest, I didn't like the style of the first season because I have already finished the manga before I started watching it. The first season was made when there was only one volume of manga to draw from and it over focused on the tragic aspect of the cyborgs because the tragic aspect of the girls gets downplayed as the series goes on.

I'm not saying that there is not tragic aspect to this story, but it was even clearly stated in season one that all the girls have come to terms with their own mortality. There is no need to use a dark color palette and heavy music to create a melancholy ambiance when that melancholy isn't found in the girls. The brighter colors do much better job of accurately describing the overall mood of the girls and it provides a nice contrast to the inevitable young death that the audience is well aware will occur.

What's up with Rico going all kawaii and stuff... ;-;

This is more, hm, too colorful I guess... Somehow I liked the prequel kind of color (and animation) more, it added that dramatic touch to the story. But, I'll still watch it ^^

Not a fan of the new animation. And Henrietta sometimes has this evil look on her that I find kind of strange, considering she always had a cute look.

First impression 7/10.

Art doesn't really bother me. It's the change and OP and ED that disappoints me ;__;

Henrietta was about to go yandere mode there haha. Claes-sensei to the rescue!

First of all did they just retcon the memory thing. Its clear Rico and triela have memories of their past from season 1 so wtf. I wouldint call the animation bad but boy its different. I also wasint a fan of the music playing during the chase scene. Also after this episode henrietta is the creepiest character in this anime. I was expecting her to sniff the shirt. For god sakes your a child who he sees as a sister stop being creepy. Well besides that the action was still good and I like the new OP.

Artwork change is a huge difference. The 1st season had a more darker theme to it while this one is just colorful and vibrant. Definitely changes the mood a lot.

Oh wow, that OST... Dat OST! I think I'll just mute everything from now on as it's by far the worst OST I've ever heard and voice acting is also impressively bad.

And the (so-called) animation is horrendous. Art is totally bland and... empty. Disappointment level = full.

Oh well, it is what it is...

Wow... it is looking so... cheaper. Design, animation, music... even voices are different, aren't they? Iam not one who is too picky about graphics but it bothers me when show change style. First episode didnt even have feel of gunslinger girls, but there is 14 more episodes, so I keep giving a try.

I can see many changes already. The animation, art style and voice actors have changed. This is just the first episode so I can't say much about animation and everything else, but the voices for the girls have definitely been more 'lolified' and the art style to be more bright and cheerful I guess. Time will tell if these changes will really make a difference either for the worse or better (for me).

This was a great reintroduction. The opening and ending this season was way better than the first season in my opinion.

Cheap and tasteless.

The riot scene. The poorly animated action scene. The cheesy dialogues. The corny soundtrack that tries too hard to tell us when to feel intense and when to feel sentimental. The all-too-cheerful characters...

The OP? The song is nice, but the fact that they have chosen such an upbeat, intense song really shows that they've misunderstood everything that were excellent and unique about the first season.

Can't say I'm a fan of the new character designs or the animation style.
Also the girls werent nearly this infatuated with their handlers as before, especially Henrietta.
Sure they cared for their handlers in a love kind of way but this just feels odd.

It's trying to be way too "kawaii", hell we even get Henrietta sniffing a shirt of a man in his 30's ...

So far in just this first episode I can already see a decline in story telling and the vibe of the story unfortunately.

The voices, nooooooo :(
I prefer the monotone color from the season 1, I feel it more fit within the anime

Henrietta seems way more different than before, is she even the same person?

I like it but for first episode, there are so many different things to take it all at once

It's different. It's not as unique, black gray and brown nor piano violin like first season, but overall I enjoy the change

I like how riko and henrietta became more expressive, and the handlers dont have perma eyebags anymore.

what I dont like is how many voice actors have shifted, on few occasions for the worse

Finished S1 yesterday. Watched S2E1 today. Dropped S2 today.

Just kidding. I'll keep trying with it. But this was a HUGE step down. It's not the same show. The GSG I know is a solid 9/10 anime. This felt like an episode from a generic 5/10 show. Everything is cheaper and less subtle. It's WAY too bright. I got used to watching the first season with the lights off but I could feel eye strain watching this so had to turn them on. OP is nice at least.

Fresh off of season one, and I really enjoyed it. So, here's hoping it keeps up -- If nothing else, I like the OP better than the original.

Oof, this art and animation are rough compared to the original. And, it is incredibly bright considering the tone of the show.

It's like they were told that the original was too dark and were forced to adapt it to something "more suiting" of young girls. So they have them "make the bad guys hurt" instead of killing them, and resort to misunderstandings to create romantic drama. This is just all-around disappointing.

Some notable changes compared to s1. I don't get that dark feel as the girls personalities seem different which in my opinion is a step back. Hopefully the rest of the eps do it better.

This is vastly different to the original, lots of still frames and changes to character designs.
The Girls are on the hunt for Terrorist, Rico & Triella gun down the one's escaping.
Henrietta gets a gift from Jose.
4th time watching.

They've completely 'animecised' the show and removed any subtlety the series had. I think part of what made it so great was never fully knowing what each character was thinking. It matched the setting and the uncertainty of cyborgs and the organisation so well. It seems like the series is just going to expo dump every thought and feeling now

The setting feels like an Italian-inspired town in Japan rather than actual Italy like in s1, which is such a shame because it gave the show such a fresh feel to it

For me, the biggest offender was changing Henrietta's character from trying to figure out her muddled feelings for her handler to just straight up weird "I'm in love with him in some creepy and deranged way"

Based on what others have said, I think I might drop s2 and try reading the manga

I didn't know there was a sequel! So I was excited until I saw the new character design... too generic!
I'll still give this season a chance, I'll try to stay optimistic for now.
