Leastways I've never seen an anime about it.

Billiards and Ice Hockey are two I'd love to see.

There's probably billiards in anime (there's a lot in manga), though probably no anime focused on it.

The horse sport is commonly referred to as polo, however I suppose your description paints a more detailed picture

If we're being loose with the term 'sports', I've been dying for a Texas Hold Em poker anime.
Or like poker representation in anime besides shitty 5 Card Draw...

Oh yeah and ever since Teekyuu introduced me to kabaddi, I've been hoping for a kabaddi anime. It's such a weird, but interesting sport.

Its not poker but Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor has high-stakes betting and is one of my favorite shows of all time

I feel like a competitive gaming anime could be pretty cool. Although designing the game they play may be a little too much to ask.

Well they didn't turn laser tag into anime, and I think laser tag is a sport. I'm really just righting all of this because MyAnimeList says I need to type at least 30 characters.

I've been waiting for a fencing anime. (It's actually kind of funny to me that I haven't been able to find out, because the majority of my old fencing team was made up of anime fans. So those two things have come to be related in my mind.) Though I understand that kendo is more Japan's thing, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised... Still, fingers crossed!

I think a good fencing anime would be cool because there are so many levels it could be taken to, or adapt Kokuo no Hito which is about rock-climbing.

I'd like to see an anime about track and field, but I could see making the events (sprinting, long jump, etc.) interesting as they are mostly individualized sports.

That shit's almost 40 years old, I'm sure the landscape of Japanese fishing has changed since then. Actually, it would kind of be interesting to see what that change would be.

DotA. We already had Lu Shidai for League of Legends. I want a more serious one though, somewhat True Sight-esque in its coverage and respect for what e-sport is.

And board games. Game of the Generals comes to mind.

Well yeah, I've seen Kaiji and its awesome, but I'm thinking about something specific to Hold Em. As someone who's a total nerd specifically for the global poker scene that would be a dream come true.

Yeah, as much as I love Tsuritama, I think its a perfect example of what Scotty means when he says the sport is reduced to a background element. Besides, I think the show approaches fishing as more of a hobby or occupation than as a sport.

How about some racing anime. Realistic ones, and official one. Long enough without one.

Then, some olympics. And lastly futsal (is it its english name?), basically a small version of soccer
Life isn't as fun and easy as anime.
Watch anime to bring that fun!!

I desperately want a football/soccer version of One Outs, or alternatively Haikyuu. Days was just a bloody disgrace to the sport. If there is even an anime about fuckin professional Karuta and Shogi, there should really be an anime on all mainstream sports that has already been mentioned on this thread

Kokou no Hito and Kamigami no Itadaki (climbing), they have the potential to become popular and loved by the anime community if well adapted.

But it's better if they don't adapt them, Kamigami no Itadaki would be the next victim of the shitty elitist meme. It's a good thing if they are known only by the manga community.

I can't imagine an anime adaptation of a Jiro Taniguchi manga. Maybe because they are more like an european comic than a manga.

It is... from my point of view. Tbh I don't care about gaming at all and so I didn't care so much about the rules and esports-insiders, but the battle scenes and the camera in them were great. ;*
But yeah I guess, you are right, the MC is a little bit overpowered.
